i too am a ratchet fan i have all the games except the 1st!
Whats funny is that the 2nd game was made in the shortest amount of time compared to the other ones and yet i think it was best all hail the RYNO 2!! -------------------- Rudy: "You did all this to become immortal. Why?" Castillo: "To live forever." -The House of the Dead |

The only Ratchet game I've played is the first one, and it totally surpassed my expectations. It was really fun. Now I think there are three or four PS2 Ratchet games, and I should probably check them out at some point; that trailer was pretty amusing.

yes there are currently 4 games on the PS2 each one better than the last except for the 4th one that one was not as good as Up Your Arsenal or Going Commando
there is also the new one that just came out for the PSP -------------------- Rudy: "You did all this to become immortal. Why?" Castillo: "To live forever." -The House of the Dead |

The second and third are better than the first? Well then, I might have to go shopping soon. I made a thread earlier today about how the Mega Man series isn't what it used to be; the first time I played Ratchet and Clank, I was totally thinking "wow, this is like 3D Mega Man, only it isn't garbage." You hear me, Capcom? This is how 3D MM should feel like. -------------------- |

yeah, the third and second are MUCH better than the first. i was completely blown by the first, and have been for 2, 3, and Deadlocked. one thing of many that is better in the sequels is the fact that the weapons and you nanotech increase as you kill enemies. they COMPLETELY ruined the RYNO 2 in 3 though with the "Im absolutely uselss in the last battle" AKA Rynocirator or w/e

what i liked about deadlocked was that once your weapon goes to level 99 or 100 it shoots pretty rainbow bullets of death

love the ratchet and clank video, I'm a fan myself. the only thing I am bumed out about is that it is on the PS3, which is too expensive for me, I wish they would make it for the PS2
I dont think I have played it long enough to get the weapons to LVL 99, I couldnt really find the game in stores so I had to rent it (before there was no late fees), I wish I could have seen the rainbow. -------------------- "Speak louder. I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am." |

I´ve got them all and all i can say is:
Racheth and Clank 1 was okay 2 and 3 were realy fun. 4 :storyline was bad realy bad, but the weapons on the other hand were nice and customizeable. -------------------- It takes 2 people and a weapon to commit a murder Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift, thats why we call it the present. |

Lots of interesting news the past few months. We already knew that Tools of Destruction will be going to go back to its roots and has gorgeous visuals, but did you know that there will be two-player co-op segments, or that some of the weapons can be guided by the SixAxis motion sensors, or that there are a series of characters parodizing the recent stupidity of the "console wars"?
Quote In the PlayStation 3-exclusive romp, you'll run into a Lombax orphan called Talwyn, who's protected by two aging robots. Which is where developer Insomniac gets to work on some blunt-instrument parody - one robot is called Cronk, and boasts Blu-ray tech, while the other, Zephyr, has superior online abilities (remember Zephyr was the code name for Microsoft's worst kept secret, Xbox 360 Elite). Both Cronk and Zephyr will be squabbling like babies throughout the game over who's got the best hardware, according to an indepth-preview of the game in the new issue of Official PlayStation Magazine. But what's really tickling our funny bones isn't this gently mirthsome dig at Sony and Microsoft, it's the metal duo's absent comrade. Excitable, small and with a habit of throwing his arms around, Willy unfortunately never survived the trio's last battle. How about that? I love those guys at Insomiac. I just finished Deadlocked a few days ago, and now I'm convinced that Ratchet and Clank is one of the best series of the past generation. I'm now firmly in the PS3 camp, with a lot of thanks to Tools of Destruction. This post has been edited by laszlow on 14th July 2007 07:07 -------------------- |

E3 has given us a ****ton of new gameplay vids. Check them out. There's a weapon that launches sixaxis-guided tornadoes, the discoball grenade from earlier, a new morph gun that turns enemies into penguins, and a bunch of other neat stuff. The visuals are absolutely gorgeous, which probably is to be expected.

how did you like deadlocked lasz? i thought it had more of an adult feel to it, and it lost (some) of its slap-stick humor. but it was a great game none the less.
oh and in Game Informer, they said that Tools of Destruction had no story relation to Size Matters, so if you dont have a psp, dont worry. -------------------- Aujourdhui a commence avec toi. |

I thought that Deadlocked had the best controls in the series, but it also had no Clank gameplay elements, the smallest arsenal in the series, and the least-entertaining storyline (even if it was still pretty funny for the most part; especially all of Dallas and Juanita's lines) of the four for PS2.
I'm probably going to pick up a PSP when the new one comes out, because getting the slimline, a game, a DVD, and a 1-GB memory card for two hundred bucks is a pretty sweet deal, and the fact that I've saved up a lot of money this summer helps as well. With any luck, I'll be playing Size Matters before the year ends and Tools of Destruction before I turn thirty (depending on how much PS3s cost by then). They announced that news on Friday. Well, they didn't announce it exactly; Kaz Hirai sort of declared it, only to have Sony deny it immediately afterwards. It does look that way, though.
And to be honest, the difference between $500 and $600 isn't much if you're willing to invest that much into a game system anyhow. I'm still probably going to wait to get one, but more for games reasons than for price reasons. Edit Not to mention that Tiddles brings it up here Edit Ninja edit: A new trailer! Gamespot has given us a nifty preview. It's overwhelmingly positive and also manages to crank up my hype meter on this game just a bit. I mean, look at this:
Quote However, the best new toy had to be Mr. Zurkon, a crabby yet lovable killbot that Ratchet can call to help him take out foes. Besides being armed with a powerful blaster, Mr. Zurkon comes packing an arsenal of one-liners to menace his foes. An added bonus is that one of the unlockables in the game is a new skin for the surly bot that's based on James Westbrook, a young boy that Insomniac put in the game after hearing he was paralyzed. That's just awesome. Not only do we get an awesome-sounding weapon, but they do a good deed for a paralyzed kid. Man, I love those guys at Insomniac. -------------------- |

Boatload of new gameplay vids; the ones here are only six of seventeen. Those glider sequences look way more entertaining than the ones in Going Commando, and it's nice to see an Infobot back in action. Gorram it, I need to get a PS3 sooner than I had originally thought....

We have our first review. It's a little dubiously early, as the game doesn't come out for another month, but at least it's positive. Here's the skinny on what's good, from Gamefaqs:
Quote -Confirmation of a weapon called the "Reaper Shotgun." -Confirmation of a weapon called the "Electric Ravager." -Skill points unlock cheats. -Gold bolts (yes!) apparently unlock new skins (damn!) -The review states that the new characters that are introduced are "a cut above past casts," I'd be inclined to agree after seeing the smuggler character in a video. -There appear to be arena battles, although I can't confirm this 100%. -Combat Device ammo can only be bought at vendors, not found in crates. -Raritanium is used to unlock weapon upgrades and it can be "found in abundance in the game world." -The sixaxis features are apparently well implemented! -Clank has new abilities, such as levitation and the ability to slow down time and the power to rebuild objects. -The PAL rating appears to be 7+. -A new planet called Murkov has a funfair of death! (Read: hi-tech platforming bit) -In one level called Planet Kortog you can roam the entire level using the robowings at your leisure! Sounds pretty sweet so far. 93's a good rating on any 100-point scale. -------------------- |

It's out! I played it briefly yesterday, and it's great fun - basically what we're used to, but with absolutely gorgeous visuals, better physics, and some very entertaining new weapons (the Razor Claws are far and away the best Ratchet melee weapon ever). Other than a confusing GS review of 7.5 (for trite humor, being too easy, and having too many different gameplay styles), ToD's been quite critically-acclaimed. Here's what's what:
Quote (Wikipedia) The game has been met with mostly positive reviews, and has been largely heralded as the greatest game on the PS3 so far. On Metacritic, it has received an aggregate score of 90 from 27 online reviews, giving the game a ranking of "universal acclaim". IGN, who gave the game a 9.4 out of 10, said "Not only has it supplanted Going Commando as the best title in the franchise, it's also the best game of any series on the PlayStation 3 thus far -- and that's saying a lot when you're up against Oblivion, Ninja Gaiden, Warhawk and Insomniac's very own previous effort, Resistance: Fall of Man." GamerNode, who gave the game 9.5 out of 10, said "In Tools of Destruction, Insomniac is back doing what they do best, and they do it better than ever, This is the best Ratchet & Clank adventure to date, and at this point the best game the PS3 has to offer." On the other hand, Gamespot gave the game 7.5 out of 10, claiming that the story "isn't very interesting" and that the game "lacks an identity." However, they did praise the game for its core gameplay and graphics. -------------------- |

Well, I hate to give this a bump, but I'm strongly considering picking up the Ratchet PSP game, Size Matters, now that it's available for around $15 to $20. I've heard that it has camera issues and that the mandatory racing sequences are really terrible; both of those would be serious turn-offs for me. Has anyone here played it? I mean, I love the four PS2 Ratchet games to death, but if the camera's really that bad....

Quote (dont chocobos rule? @ 13th April 2008 15:06) it came out for the ps2, and supposedly its better than the one for the psp if that helps I've actually heard the opposite. The resolution is the same on both games, so the PS2 version looks terrible while the PSP version looks great. And according to the Gamespot review of the PS2 version, they didn't make any fixes to the camera at all, or even implement a control scheme more like Up Your Arsenal or Deadlocked. Plus, it costs about $10-$15 more. If I get the game, it's going to be on PSP. I just don't know whether I should get it or not. -------------------- |

Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty is dated for September 30th of this year. It's a $15 downloadable game with four playable stages continuing directly where Tools of Destruction left off, and bridging the gap between ToD and the next full R&C Future game. Sounds pretty sweet.

No idea about prepaid cards. If you live in Europe, then you can pick up a Blu-Ray version: http://kotaku.com/5026134/rc-quest-for-boo...blu+ray-release
If not, well, either get a credit card onto your PSN account or hope that they come out with those prepaid cards. -------------------- |

I didn't want to make a new thread just for this so....
they announced the new Ratchet game. It's Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time and it's coming out this fall. Here's the very first trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47275.html Pretty obvious that the theme is time travel and that Ratchet has some Clank-finding to do. I still need to play Tools and Booty, but that time will come. And also, I'm very, very disappointed in Sony. Apparently the original title was Ratchet & Clank Future: Clock Blockers, but SCEA said no and forced Insomniac to change it. Boo. -------------------- |

Drop-in-slash-drop-out online co-op, lots of platforming. First project of Insomniac Games's North Carolina studio (the California studio is working on their new IP). Looks neat. -------------------- |
