Here are some random thoughts I had while playing the game:

During the Phantom Train fight:

"How the heck does Sabin Suplex a train!?"

After realizing he's an undead enemy-- "He is Cornholio! He needs PhoenixDown for his bunghole!" I did the same thing with Evrae Atlanta in FFX .

When Umaro throws an ally:

"Fighter-Douken!!!" It's an 8-Bit Theatre reference for those unfamiliar. It's also mentioned in the excellent Zelda parody "Four-Swords Misadventures" on Newgrounds.com It's also my forum name, heh.

On the Veldt:

"Why are there Imperial troopers here?"

When Kefka is "swearing" in the desert:

"Son of a what now?"

When Ultros refers to Chupon as "taciturn":

"Uh-huh, sure, you just wanted to use that word in a sentence, admit it Uncle Ulty!"

Relm : "Stand back, I'll paint your portrait!"

"Funniest. Threat. Ever." Seriously, ya'll, for all Relm's sucking that one line alone merits her appearance in this game, never mind

i sometimes talk back to a character after they say something, but i don't think i get quite as into it as you do.

funniest linie ever: (FFV)
"That over-sized lobster just got served!"
"With mashed potatoes and (just forgot the second part )"

my reaction "uh... what? that has got to be breaking some sort of law on victory comments."

I haven't played FFV yet, but after I go stomp Kefka (I've done everything else) that's next on the list.

Speaking of our good friend Mr. Palazzo, here's another one.

Upon seeing his final form (I haven't actually, I just saw that enemy file for it on here)

This one always gets me. At the opera, Ultros is sitting there with his 4 ton weight. He tries to push it, then says, "N'ghaaa! This is heavier than I thought! It's gonna take me 5 minutes to push this thing off!"

I thought, "Ultros is the master of physics!1!!" Seriously, how does that figure? How can an octopus push a 4 ton weight to begin with?

I have noticed. And it's not really that much of a big deal but it's still interesting.

IIRC, wasn't it "gravy"? FFVa could have been even better if they didn't modernize the dialogues so much.

my first thought was that it was gravy, but now that i think about it, i think it was a multiple-word food item. but maybe not. and i really wish that they would not have had so many cheezy/modernized dialogue. it just made it so... uncomfortable.

It's been a good while since I've played FFVII and I didn't get that into it, so I didn't pick up on that at all. That's actually kinda cool though, Aerith just scored some points in my department. Celes' theme was one of my favorites.

More random thoughts:

"The HadesGigases are taller than the buildings here... and yet I have yet to see one just walking around..."

"How did Gau learn to talk?"

"Fighting by taking turns isn't realistic? Yeah, well encountering giant monsters while walking through a bad neighborhood isn't realistic either, so why not start there. It's a game people."

Anything said here is a caveat, not a critiscism. That's kinda what this thread's about.

They traveled from Vector to Narshe, and still don't know.

ultros must be good at math if he know exacly how long time it will take to push the "thing"... i think personally that square enix shouldnt have make ultros say how long time it would take, instead he could have said like: "N'ghaaa! This is heavier than I thought! its gonna take me some time to push this thing off! that sound a little better than saying how long time it will take

And how on earth did Celes manage to learn a complete play script in like, 5 minutes? (Suppose it makes sense to have the little Guess the line thing in the play.)

Theres a port near vector, that has magitek transport boats.

Do people even know where the opera house is?

Actually, in WoR, when you got Daryl's airship, I thought it was kinda awful for Celes to just leave her father-figure Cid (if he was alive) on the island alone like that. I mean, she could atleast take him aboard the airship instead of making him live there on a secluded island in a one story house with no one else to keep him company.

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

he died before she left the island.

however, i think it would have been nice to have a little optional scene, should you ever re-visit the cabin with celes in your party, where the group gives cid a proper burial and final farewell. (banana suit and all)

You can save Cid. At least on the SNES version. Just feed him the faster fish (the good fish), and he recovers. He then tells you about the raft & to go and save your friends, or something along those lines.

wow, i guess thats my fault mogmaster and samauri bob. does that work in the PS1 version? because i caught every single fish there was, and when i brought them back he still died.

Me too, hence feeding him the bad ones. Cid died. No big. From what I hear, he jsut stands in the house and whatnot for the remainder of the game. Talk about a boring existence. and he NEVER removes the bloody raincoat thingy!
