If my understanding is correct, the lore must be used on Strago for him to learn it. So you have to wait to kill Hidon until after he uses Grand Train on you.
FYI, this type of thing can usually be found in the guides and walkthrough on this site. -------------------- Status: FF6 -- Finished! Yeah! In order for Strago to learn these attacks, he needs to be both present and conscious at the time of the enemy attack. This means he won't learn new skills when he's suffering from Wound, Petrify, Zombie, Dark, Sleep, Muddled, Stop and Freeze. What happens after he has correctly witnessed the attack doesn't matter, be it Wound, Zombie or rheumatoid arthritis.

As stated by BDZ
Possible spoilers: highlight to view strago must be attacked by the desired enemy skill and survive the battle. Grand train is a multiple target attack si if he uses it and Strago survives then you should be good. In lesser creatures, if Gau rages them and usae the attack or Relm COntrols them and uses the attack with Strago in your party then he will learn it. i ALSO believe he can learn only 1 per battle, the most recent one used in the battle. Also, dont forget to take Strago up when you fight Doomgaze so he can learn Aero from him -------------------- "Death to Mystic Enemies" ~ Heckran "Say yer prayers Lynx! Wait, what is this about him having to be hit by the attack?
I recall quite well from my playing FFVI (technically FFIII, US version, for the SNES), that Strago, UNLIKE OTHER BLUE MAGES from other FF games, could learn lores by just seeing them cast, as opposed to having the lores hit him directly. Maybe they changed that for FF6a? -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! Nope, that wasn't changed. As long as Strago is in the battle when the lore is used and meets the requirements in Djibriel's post, he'll learn the lore. There's no need for the lore to be used on him.

Strago most definitely can learn more than one Lore per battle. Get in a tussle with a DarkForce (you can fight them in the indoor portions of Kefka's Tower) and you'll see what I mean. DarkForce uses all but four of Strago's Lores (he won't use Big Guard, Pep Up, ForceField or of course, GrandTrain) He uses Aqua Rake, Stone and Revenge and you already have those regardless of how much you ignore Lore acquisition, so you can learn 17 Lores from him. I learned about a dozen in one battle. So yeah. You can learn more than one.

i came up with an very good idea to make strago learn a lot of lores easy.
u need to have relm or gogo in ur party with the relic (dont remember what its called) that turn sketch into control and then in a battle u take control over an enemy and pick the enemys lore and the enemy will attack the lore and then u learned it ![]() This post has been edited by Sabin_ on 24th August 2007 11:27 -------------------- Sabin lvl 99!!! i defeated doomgaze on the first encounter :D i hurt cactuar on 9999 hp |
