Final Fantasy 6 is a game that managed to keep me engrossed the first time I played through it, and even though that was years ago, I still find myself reliving the opera scene from time to time.
I liked both the original and the GBA versions of Celes' aria. Each of them has its beautiful parts.

Recently, after playing FF6A I've been looking for a vocalised rendition (in English). I found a few but none of them were doing it justice. That was until I stumbled across one of the Advance version from "Dear Friends - Music from FINAL FANTASY" on Youtube, a while ago. I was expecting another butchered attempt but it turned out to be quite impressive.
Yes, it's not really the kind of operatic voice I imagined Maria would have, but all in all, it's beautiful.

I still wonder how the impresario relied on Celes' resemblance to Maria when it wasn't even near as essential as her voice.. Didn't her audience notice? >_>;
Anyway, that will always remain one of my favourite bits in the game. I just wanted to put up the link for whoever else is interested. smile.gif

that was actually pretty cool. if they add real voices to the game in an updated version they need to do something similar for the opera scene.that wuz cool

Heh, I love that clip. Incidently that's my favorite performance of the Aria. You have to hear the whole thing for the awesome effect.

That's absolutely brilliant! Thank you a lot, Zeromus! That's the kind of thing I was looking for. I'm surprised I never heard of 'Dear Friends - Music from FINAL FANTASY' before.
After I found Stephanie Woodling's version on Youtube, I tried looking around for the 'whole thing' but couldn't find it.. You've made my day. smile.gif

i really loved the opera scene. it is still one of my favorites ever, despite the lack of vioce and good graphics. even though this is good, it isn't the way i would imagine it, and i dont think that it does the scene justice.

Now if only Uematsu would use some of his free time to write a full-fledged opera that incorporates the opera material--including Aria di mezzo carattere--from FFVI...

Also, there was voice, just computer-generated voice. Was obviously not human voice, but at least you could tell it was supposed to be a voice-imitating SNES instrument.

well yes, that was implied. even though at times i actually thought it sounded voice-like, it certainly wasn't a human.
