I finally beat the Elite Four today, largely with a level 60 Torterra, a level 60 Staraptor, a level 61 Medicham, and a level 54 Lucario. It was easier than I thought it would be - if you have a couple strong ones at level 60 you should be golden.
I also just opened up Pal Park, so let the migrating begin. -------------------- |

My sister made it to the champion's 4th pokemon with this team:
Lvl 45 Staraptor Lvl 46 Rampardos Lvl 47 Honchkrow Lvl 47 Luxray Lvl 47 Empoleon Lvl 49 Dialga I just told her, "How 'bout trying the E4 just to see what they have" and she made it all the way there. It was the champion's Lucario that got her in the end. Is it just me, or are the legendaries much easier to catch than on the previous games? I remember trying all day to catch Ho-oh on my Gold and my sister caught Dialga in about 5 ultra balls. The easiest one of all, though, was Mesprit. I was out running around the grass training her Riolu when all of a sudden, Mesprit appeared. It had full HP and everything, and I only had the Riolu, so I decided to just throw a quick ball at it. I caught it just like that. -------------------- Why, hello guys! Haven't been around here in a loooong time! http://dragcave.net/user/LadyTwi http://www.backloggery.com/ladytwi |

You're lucky King_Eddy... I used about 60 Quick Balls and almost 100 Ultra balls before I caught that damn thing.. even with it having 1 hp and my wobbuffet preventing it from escape..
Anyway, I beat the game (post elite four) and I'm trying to make a godly team of overpowered pokemon >_> Jon / 1117 6817 0723 is my friend code if anyone wants to battle or trade with me |

Is there someplace you can go that gives all the catch percentages on all the balls?

I think it depends on luck and whether the pokemon feels like staying in the ball. -------------------- Why, hello guys! Legends generally have a very low catch rate, except for Dialga/Palkia. Anyway, got Diamond on the 21st of June (Australian release date) and have 7 badges. Haven't settled on one team yet, but I beat Gardenia and Byron with only one Pokémon (a Noctowl and Gastrodon respectively). Oh, and Bronzor has awesome Defence/Sp. Defence. -------------------- I'm a general, not some opera floozy! *insert humourous observation here* |

Ouch. So that's why Giratina took me like 5 Dusk Balls to catch. Luckily my Porygon-Z was able to get him down to like 10-15 HP with one Ice Beam. And Shroomish brought on the Stun Spore for an easier catch. Otherwise, he would've been ridiculous.
Also, good luck catching a Kangaskhan in that Great Marsh game. Finally found some. Could not catch one. Stupid balls. Well, I was on vacation for a week and, with no computer or TV or anything up there in our cottage, I was forced to play some more Pokemon. I was able to fully breed/EV train 4-5 more Pokemon and raise them all to ~level 70. Nasty. So I have a pretty solid team right now. It consists mainly of Porygon-Z, Ninetails, Breloom, Nidoking, Bastiodon, and then an extraneous 6th member, usually my trademarked Electrode. I also have a nice Dusknoir, but I don't like him very much. I need to brag a bit: Porygon-Z has 252 Evs in Sp Attack and Speed, making him a beast of a sweeper. At level 81, he has 320 Sp Attack. After one Nasty Plot, that jumps to 640, if I understand it correctly. His ability, Adaptibility (I think..something like that), doubly applies the normal-type STAB bonus, which pushes Tri-attack's base power to 180 when he uses it. That is freakin strong! That's stronger than Hyper Beam. So he has that, Signal Beam, and Ice Beam. He covers a pretty wide type range, which is nice. Dragons like Dragonite or Garchomp get WRECKED, usually by a 4x effective Ice Beam. I may replace Nasty Plot with some other special attack since he can't take that first hit sometimes. Ninetails is interesting. He's not complete yet, but he's really, really powerful. He is also a 252 SpAtt/Speed EV pokemon, like Porygon-Z. I bred him to have Hypnosis and I gave him the Dream Eater TM. And he's also got Flamethrower (of course). Unfortunately, he can't learn Energy Ball by TM, so I may have to remake him so he has that, Hypno, DE, and FT. That would be ideal. He dominates bug/steel/grass types, and can really put the hurt on Ghosts and poison-types. Plus, who expects Ninetails to have DE? It's a neat surprise. Nidoking was given 252 HP and Attack EVs. He's not that great. Just does big damage to most types. Megahorn, EQ, Poison Jab, and Brick Break. Psychic, darkness, poison, steel, electric, fire, rock, grass, ice, and normal types are covered, if I know my types right. He can OHKO most enemies I find, and since I love using special attack moves instead of physical ones, a simple Light Screen would do magic. Hence a physical attacker with Brick Break. Not much else to say here. Breloom is my favorite. 252 attack and speed EVs. I just have one thing to say about him: Sporepuncher. Good game, everybody. You have one turn to kill him or else you lose, basically. Bastiodon is my first high-level Pokemon. He has 252 attack EVs and 128 Defense/Sp defense EVs. With Leftovers equipped, he can essentially live forever. It's unbelievable how high his defense is. And since I bred him with Torterra, he learned EQ and Curse, which only helped me more. Stone Edge was good for STAB and covering some more types, and Avalance is a neat surprise for a quick 120 base power move to use against dragons (4x effective move with 120 power?! Good game, folks). So yea, that's my team thus far. Criticism/suggestions are welcome. Oh, actually. One more idea I want to bring up really quick: Yawnpunching mixed sweeper Blastoise. I can breed him to have Yawn and Focus Punch and he can learn Flash Cannon and Hydro Pump naturally. Yawn/Focus Punch is a pretty nifty combo not seen frequently, but I'd like to try it I think. Blastoise's Attack and Sp Attack stats are almost equal so he'd be a good mixed sweeper; plus, he has great defenses so he could take a hit before yawn kicks in. I'm just worried about his type cover. Steel, fighting, and water all hurt rock. Steel hurts Ice, but nobody uses Ice pokemon. Water hurts ground and fighting hurts normal, darkness, ice, and steel. So Flash Cannon is obsolete, really. Idk what to replace it with, though. -------------------- Is PJ |

I finally managed to finish up my Eevee team: a Vaporeon, a Jolteon, an Espeon, an Umbreon, a Leafeon, and a Snorlax. All of them are EV-trained, but no one's higher than level 82 yet.

Blizzera god, how did you get a darkrai? AFAIK, they can only be obtained through haxing or Nintendo events, but Idt Nintendo has had an event to get him yet.
I'm currently making a new party. I'm going to try out a new strategy that I've been curious about for awhile, but I won't really divulge my plan yet until a few members of my party are complete. All I have to say is that my Brave Curselax will play a pretty large role in my team. Um. I don't have a router right now or access to wifi right now, but I will at college and/or when I get my router hooked up and working. But I have three entire boxes filled with Munchlaxes that I bred while trying to get the right IVs and nature for my 'lax. They all have curse and EQ right now. I only have 6 females out of the 90 Munchlaxes. I have 8 adamant and a bunch of the other natures as well, but don't ask for a brave one because probability hates me and only gave me 2 (and only one of those was with Thick Fat). If someone wants one (or 30), though, let me know and maybe sometime in the future I can trade one to you somehow. -------------------- Is PJ |

You can get Darkrai if you have this thing called Action Replay. Other than that you need to go to a Nintendo Event.

Action replay = hacking.
I was playing LeafGreen earlier today and caught Zapdos. I thought he was considered an uber and banned from tournies and such, but on the list of ubers/legendaries that I have for tournies, I didn't find any of the legendary birds. Are they typically allowed? -------------------- Is PJ |

Quote my friend got darkrai through the event and gave it to me. Strange... I didn't think that the event had taken place yet.... Infact, I don't think any events have taken place. My Diamond party is doing ok so far, I have two badges and all of my pokemon are lvl 22~. At the moment I can't figure out how to get to the town with the third gym (Can't remember it's name - not even sure which one it is.) My Party consists of : Monferno, Budew, Kadabra, Luxio, Shellos and Staravia. A fairly well balanced team, and though I managed to dig up a fossil underground ( Craniados), I'm not using him because so far, he's growing very very slowly. Despite this, I may keep levelling him, just in case I need a rock pokemon at any stage. I hope to get a WiFi soon, so i'll most likely post my Friend code when I do. |

Cranidos is amazing! He has one of the highest attack stats in the game and, if raised the right way, can OHKO almost any enemy. I forgot who I told this to, but my brother and I were doing batte tower together one day. He had a Rampardos and I was using Bastiodon. His Rampardos wasn't EV trained because we didn't know about it at the time. Anyways, he learns this move called Head Smash; it has 150 power and like...80 accuracy, IIRC, but it has recoil damage. Me, being Bastiodon could only weaken enemies, but he could OHKO them no problem. Anyways, this Blastoise came in at one point and managed to use Withdraw twice. I couldn't kill him (Rock, Ground, and Ice moves for me), so I let me brother try.
Yet another OHKO. Let's review this: Rampardos, modest nature (+ special attack, - attack), not EV trained in attack, uses Head Smash, a rock move, on Blastoise, a water pokemon with big defense, who used Withdraw twice, doubling his defense. Still kills him instantly. And the recoil damage was enough to kill himself (this was after two previous uses, but it's still impressive). THAT is power, right there. If you made a Rampardos with Brave nature, EV-trained him in attack, gave him EQ, Head Smash, and two other extraneous moves, and put hmi in a trick room team, it'd be game over. And that's actually what I'm planning on doing soon enough. >:) Edit Oh, and I'm still going to call hoax on shiny Darkrai being legit. According to my sources, there has only been one event during from which you can get a Darkrai, and that was a Japanese movie event. And that Darkrai was not shiny. It had no chance of being shiny. Not even that 1/8100 or whatever chance. So shiny Darkrai must be haxed. This post has been edited by Caesar on 31st July 2007 22:29 -------------------- Is PJ |

Blastoise doesn't have the highest defense, but...wow, that's pretty impressive. I'd never thought about Trick Room Rampardos, either.
I'm currently working hard to get a well, IV bred team in my Diamond version for Wi-Fi. I've already EV trained my awesome IV Starmie (The Power items make things so much easier) and Gyarados, though I'm not sure if should use both. I'm also working on my Ambipom, which I plan to use as a lead. It's Jolly, and I plan on giving it the typical 252/252 EV spread, respectively in Attack and Speed. Fake Out, U-Turn, Return, and Brick Break, I think it'll work pretty well. At the start of the battle, Fake Out, or U-Turn if the enemy's lead is a Ghost. Then, either pummel it or use U-Turn to switch to an appropriate counter. Edit Just realized Double Hit would work better with Technician than Return, stupid me. This post has been edited by Samurai Bob on 1st August 2007 13:11 -------------------- FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver. |

well folks i should thank the action replay company. With that said...I have all 493 in my pc. along with clones. I have two ho-oh's, lugias, enteis, deoxys, and all legends including mew, celebi, Jirachi, Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus. The action replay gave me 999 rare candy, 999 normal master balls, and 493 item master balls.
The item master balls worked like this: I go into the wild with how ever many item balls i want and watever number they are in dexter is wat will pop in wild. Say for example if i throw out all except 151 master balls: then i can find ild mews. Not only that but i have shiny code on so wat i catch is shiny woo. Even ones i already have. i have wi-fi so if anyone wants something.....then add my friend code: 2921 6332 9546 Thats it so if anyone wanna add me go ahead. -------------------- Kefka's Message of the week: Get off your couch noobs and get my new game Dissidia 012 |

as for hacks, i've noticed something:
i bought an action replay for my gbasp, and got mew, lugia, ho-oh, celebi, jirachi, and deoxys on my saphire, and then pal parked em, assuming that the DS would think them legit (since i never actually hacked the DS game), but when i went online, they were untradable. I was gonna rub it in the faces of all those morons wanting "Lv 9 and under Mews" for all their ubers, and give em what they asked for, but it didn't work out the way i had hoped. So the joke's on me, the pokemon are totally useable and playable on the DS, i just can't trade em, so i'm building up a "forbidden" team now. -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH!
