OK, so there's an internet meme going around where you go to IMDB, look up your favorite movie, and list some of the "official" plot tags for it. Your friends then try to guess what movie you're talking about, etc.
Well, I experimented with some RPGs, with results both funny and pithy. For instance, the next time an ignorant friend of yours asks why she should play FF4, your reasons will include Betrayal, Bravery, Killer Doll, Revenge, Love, Moon Men. Tell me that's not the perfect game right there. Try it at home! This post has been edited by L. I actually did that meme not long ago, except with television shows. Firefly = Warrior Women + Interracial Marriage + Wisecracking Humor; great stuff.
Does this RPG sound familliar? Blood / Gore / Violence / Black Magic / Cannibalism (amazingly enough, those are the only five listed). -------------------- |

Nah, it's Shadow Hearts. Set in an alternate present not long after the turn of the 19th century. Kind of a sequel to the PS1 game Koudelka. Has a sequel that's a much better game. That Shadow Hearts.

Well, I guess it also sounds like FFVII. It almost also sounds like FFIV. It also almost sounds like Chrono Trigger. Haha, I actually had FFVI in mind. Though you make a compelling case for FFVII...
Love Triangle = Locke, Celes, Terra Amnesia = Terra (and to a lesser extent Rachel) Haunted Pasts = This is central to several charecters... All of them actually... Tech Vrs World = Note I didn't put nature, as their wasn't much of a hippie theme, but obviously I meant magitek Uncontrollable Power Here I meant Terra. It was hard to allude to her esper form, without being obvious. Also the Goddess Statues World Destruction World Of Ruin. 'Nuff said Rebirth Clearly at the end there is some form of rebirth shown Abuse of Power This pretty much sums up the Empire and Kefka in General... It's hard to be vauge enough to make it challenging, but not so vauge it can be applicable elsewhere. I guess I failed *sigh* Any recomendations for what could have been added? You just proved that Final Fantasy series has a ton of recurring elements and themes. I bet we all knew that. I think the real challenge is to twist a set of tags to an unlikely candidate. IMDB has both bisexual and bisexuality as keywords for FFV.
