Ooo, sounds quite fun, I think I'll buy it in a few months, by which time it will have dropped in price by a massive amount, what with PS3 coming and everything and the fact PS2 games are dropping fast in price after release already at this point. Thus if I don't like it, there's no great loss.
Nice to hear so many people enjoyed it anyway! Can't be too bad I guess! -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

I found out that in the (of what i heard) japinise version of the game you can play online multiplayer mode.
heres some info i found on a site. By order of the President of ShinRa, through accomplishments in missions as well as team battles, you have received the rank of SOLDIER, and with aims of becoming the strongest, you are to sent to the huge underground facility "Deep Ground" to train. With other players, you can form groups, and are given the chance to enjoy large team vs. team battles. Strategy is an important key when playing the Multiplayer Mode. Only the best will be given to the SOLDIER who proves himself the greatest of them all. *NOTE* The following information was taken from the Beta Version, and is subject to change before the official release of the game. And apparently you can custumise your own deepground solder. I pray that it comes here. |

You owe me a new keyboard, as this one is now drenched in coffe that squirted out my nose. Well I finally rented it (considering now I do have a PS2) and I do like it, but Vincent's hair looks greacy, (yeah I know im weird, and I cant spell) But I had a bit of trouble equipping Possible spoilers: highlight to view But besides that, jumping to the graphics side I like them, but not OMG but it's decent enough. But sometimes a bit hard to see.materia to a gun, well infact i'm having a bit of trouble with the guns, and how you equip them And almost bought it when I went shopping for myself ( And Hamedo, I dont own a though if I did... Yeow, way to spoil everything.
I'm considering getting this game. Originally I was really, really disappointed in the crap Square had been pushing, but FFXII changed my mind (and I was one of the first to bash the idea!) So... I figure maybe it'll be decent. Besides, I need to buy a PS1 memory card. Might as well pick it up while I'm there next time I go. If it sucks, well, it's "just" $50-ish. No biggie. $50 for a few hours' worth of entertainement before I get bored of it is acceptable, but not what I'd hope for frankly. $50 for a good game is a bargain. So it's worth a shot. In any event I need a new PS1 card. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I had to pick up a PS1 memory card last friday and ended up taking this home too. And I must say, I'm quite surprised. It IS good.
The game's weakest point is definately the voice acting. Vincent's lines are great and his VA is quite good. Most of the other hcaracters, ESPECIALLY the people onboard the highwind (er, Shera? Whatever), could really work on their intonation and the speed at which they deliver their lines. The kid in the second area (Edge I think?) for instance - gets dragged off by something, screams in terror, then seconds later in a calm, controlled near-whisper, "Thanks..." Now I know why everyone is sorry in this game - they're appoligizing for their poor VA. Possible spoilers: highlight to view Another thing that really made this game lose points was the terrible, TERRIBLE cheesy end scene. "GO VINCENT!" "Hrm, time to save the world!" All to some ridiculously lame j-pop song. I felt nauseated. Everything was going great up until that point. That and Yuffie - I wish Square would stop hammering the cliché comical relief character into every game they make. It killed the mood so hard and so often that I wanted to slam her head against things. The gameplay is solid. Though the autosave feature is horribly annoying (should I switch off my PS2? Oh crap, AUTOSAVE DECIDED TO KICK IN WITHOUT WARNIN- well, there goes my memory card...) everything else is quite great. Aiming with the right joystick is a pain but the aiming options make it a lot easier. What sucks is when enemies decide to gang-rape you and you can't move before taking a few dozen hits, or when something happily fires away a shot that does a few hundred thousand damage for no reason at all. But generally it's a smooth ride that's well-executed and quite enjoyable. Except for Cait Sith - the game was bad enough with Yuffie, they didn't have to include him. I'm surprised frankly. It was great. Though I'm still not sure exactly what weight does (couldn't find anything about it in the instructions - I can guess it affects recoil and such, but I couldn't find any explanation for that) or what picking up those capsules does (they're supposed to unlock things but after getting over half a dozen I still haven't unlocked a thing.) Amusingly enough, the opening video calls it the "last chapter" but there's an ad for DoC2 for cell phone on the back of the instruction booklet. But then again, with a series called "final fantasy" that's still around after 20 years, I can understand how "last" would mean "6 sequels." -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I was'nt really too fond of DOC, really the only reason I purchased it was 1. it was part of the FFVII compiliation and 2. I thought sweet Vincent has his own game this is going to be great.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Then at the very end where Vincent says the lamest line ever:The sniper part in edge. Possible spoilers: highlight to view made me confused. " Well I guess its time to go save the world" When did Vincent's character become so lame. In the original he was so cool with really good lines, and why does Vincent only have Galian Beast even after the part when Possible spoilers: highlight to view I was also hoping to go explore more than just a couple places in DOC like mabye Rosso takes the protomateria? should'nt he be able to transform into Chaos even if uncontrolled.? Possible spoilers: highlight to view I did like the chapter 7 cinema's though, I only had one question about Vincent does Junon or even outside into the town of Nibelhiem. Possible spoilers: highlight to view he age now since Chaos and Omega cancelled each other out at the very end.? This post has been edited by Fralelk on 4th March 2007 02:41 |

I just wondered if anyone's bought/played this game ? I found it very fun and challenging however most websites gave it a crappy review and a bad score but I loved it. Anyways what did you think? (If you played it) What I found most odd was...
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Weiss uses two Gunblades , what the hell? Why is he using weapons that are unique to the FFVIII universe? Well I thought they were unique to the FFVIII universe anyway Moderator Edit Merged into the older topic on the same subject. I bought it a few days ago and completed it, it's a good game, cosidering i'm not a fan of shooters, I found it a bit easy though.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view I agree about the ending when The FF7 cast are cheering Vincent on. I also found the Cait Sith part pointless as well, SE could have easily put a scene in when Vincent sees what Deepground are doing with the civilians they captured. But apart from those minor complaints i enjoyed playing it, but I hope there's going to be no FF7 spinoffs after Crisis Core. -------------------- If all else fails. beat them to death with sticks! |

Hmm now I've completed this game on Ex Hard completed every single of the 46 extra missions but there's only 1 thing I've never gotten, which is the Guard N Barrel which you get for saving all 12 WRO members on chapter 6, did anyone manage this? If so can you tell me how? I tried it on normal like 50 times I managed to get past the helicopter bit only once and saved the other 3 members just ahead but when it came to the lone wro member in the corridor they headshotted him... I nearly cried >.< Any one out there that has actually gotten this barrel or can offer any advice? Those helicopters are damn annoying. Oh nevermind I just let myself die a lot so I could get the hydra upgraded to the gigant hydra so I could take the helicopters down in 1 hit hahaha. It was easy.

dirge of cerberus? i think its a good game. first thought: "squenix making a shooter? not possible." but they did surprisingly well. it feels pretty good, and building up the parts of your guns to meet your needs is nice. the actual story is decent, not quite as good as i'd hoped for, but the backstory on vincent is excellent. plus, its just fun to see all our pals from FF7 again. i'd definately say get it, especially if you were a big fan of vincent and want to see what happened/happens to him.

Being cautious, I rented this game first. It was good for a single playthrough, though I have no desire to play it again yet...
Anyways, it's a good game. The gameplay is fun and the story line is excellent as well. It functions as a much better sequel to FFVII than Advent Children. Possible spoilers: highlight to view As Vincent was an optional character in the first game, putting him in the spotlight of D.O.C is what makes it so good. Good sequels touch in things their predicessors did not.At least D.O.C. didn't revive Sephiroth. I know that doesn't seem like much, but considering that's exactly what they did in Advent Children, a decision that made the film suck more so than any other, the introduction of original villians is a huge plus. If you've played games like Quake and Doom, you have fun with D.O.C |

The gameplay is solid, although the controls felt awkward for me at first. Also, the tutorial has you play Vincent while he's still a member of the Turks
