I just purchased Anthology for PS1 to "relive my youth" and have been playing FFV. I passed the Library of the Ancients, but didn't learn Lv5 Death, so I went back into the catacombs to learn it. Now that I have, I can't get out and I saved over my game at the save pt in the catacombs. The room where Mid was is empty and I can't seem to activate the secret passage to get out. I also can't seem to go back very far as there is a book shelf blocking my retraced steps that won't move either. Can anyone help!? I'd HATE to have to start from scratch!!!

Thanks in advance!

I remember getting stuck in here too. Walk around in every corner that you can, pressing O to look for the hidden switch. I don't remember exactly where it is, but I want to say that it's right where the bookcase opens up, facing downwards. Go experiment.

this happened to me in my first playthrough as well. Only Mid can open up that passage for some reason.

Lazlow basically had it right, there is a way to just flat out go back, but the switches aren't very clear in any manner so you're pretty much just going to have to move around and tap confirm on every nook and cranny of that room until you find your way.

You'll eventually get a spell called "Telepo\Exit" that lets your Time Mage automatically leave a dungeon or battle (most, not all) if you're stuck or takes too long to leave.

I also have had problems with solving the Library of the Ancients "mini-puzzle" back on my first playthrough. I spent a few hours trying to figure out how to make the talking bookshelf leave me alone until I passed through an area that led me to Ifrit. It was so obvious.

I know that Anthology was mentioned, but didn't they make it so that you could use Mid's passage in the Advance version?

And yes, the switch to move the shelves is a pain to find, but it is there, as my team of 3 lv 20s and 1 lv 19 could vouch for when I realized what I was up against. biggrin.gif
