Well only playing FF4, 5 and 6 I don't have much room to talk but out of those three I liked 6 the best. Â I just loved seeing all the guys escaping and I actually got pissed when I saw Shadow stay. Â But it left to many question like did Celes and Locke ever get together (it merely hinted), did Terra go back to her kids (probably but who knows), and like every other character has this question and what pissed me off the most is what happens to Shadow. Â Thats why I think the ending to FF4 was much better written. Â It concluded everyones story. Â The only question remaining was how long did it take Celes and Rosa to get "sick of it" that night.
I think they left FF6 like that because they were gona make a sequel but then after going to their spiritual advisor they decided to wait and make a pretty good (just what I've heard) FFX and the make a sequel of that. I put FFXI instead of 2 beacuse I think more people have played that one then 2. -------------------- aint superstitious Black cat crossed my trail I aint superstitious But a Black cat crossed my trail But Lord has got me so far and I wont let her stop me now The dogs begin to bark all over my neighborhood And that aint all The dogs begin to bark all over my neighborhood UMmHMm This is a mean old world to live in and I cant face it by myself |

Well, for me, it's gotta be FF 6 : it's long, and every one gets his special moment... plus the remix of all the music themes is pure genius (thank you Uematsu!)

I couldn't choose, so I null'd it. All the endings fit the game well, but I'd like to note that FFX's ending
Why didn't you add Tactics or FF2 in there? |

I had to choose IX. Â So many great parts in this one.

FFVII was the first game I played out of the series and it has the best ending because it left me wanting more...as in, what happened to everyone afterwards. Some of the other games did that too, but I don't have the sam passion as I do with FFVII.

I picked FFIX. Everything about it was great and positive, unlike other endings like FFX.
FFVI was a close second, I only wish that it had PS or PSX graphics, that could have made it alot better. -------------------- War is for the participants a test of character; it makes bad men worse and good men better. - Joshua Chamberlain U sir R a n00b >:-( - Cactuar |

FF9 for me thanks. I didn't really like IX too much, but it had the best ending.
FF4 was far too cornball. FF5 was well...not to great... FF6 was probably runner up. It was good because it was clever and mainly told of what happend directly after the final boss, not into the future s'more. FF7, don't get me started. 2nd Worst FF ending ever. Everything else was awesome, but the ending was far from my favorite. Just didn't like it. Too open ended not enough answers leads to speculation. And my speculation isn't too happy. FF8, Worst FF ending ever. Didn't make a lick of sense. Y'know why did they release FF8 in America anyway? To make us lose faith in Square or the series? FF10, good...but sad. enough said. -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. i said ff7. to me that is the best ending of the other FF's just because, like the rest of the story, it's very open-ended and mysterious. anyway, seeing midgar covered in vegetation 100 or whatever amount of years later as the last scene was very cool.
ff4 had a very weak ending. YAY WE SAVED W0RLDZ ff5 i dont remember tbh ^^ so it must suck ff6 also had a very weak ending -- too many characters, not enough time to devote to the ending. ff8 had a pretty cool ending until i found out laguna was squall's dad because that really didn't make sense to me for some reason and i just tought it was too stupid and coincidental ff9 had a good one as did 10 |

I'd have to say FFIX had the best ending, although FFVII comes in a close second. FFIX's ending just really got to me, after all the work and effort everyone in the game had put in, and all the trials, and the entire story in general, it was just so great to see a happy ending.
I hope FFIX stays in first, because it truly is a great story with a great ending. ![]() -------------------- I'm a general, not some opera floozy! |

Didn't make sense? How so? It explained basically everything, while leaving plenty to the imagination, unlike the rest of the game. FF7's didn't make a lick of sense. Stupid Red. You know what the worst part is though? How after the credits it just goes to a space scene. I was really thinking something else was gonna happen. I sat there and waited, and waited. Then I just sat there waiting for some Japanese guy to pop up and say "Haha, you stupid american, we make you wait for more, but now you get notting! FF7 was my favorite just because everyone else seems to hate it so much. Now I am a sucker for a cool CG but not so much of one that I immediately go for FFX yet I can't take enough from the 16-bit endings of those before the PSX. FF7 was just the right amount of both worlds. While most despise the ending because it lacks in so many explanations, it really just shows that there was more behind the whole game than just the characters you were playing with. The point of the game was that you weren't fighting to save the world, you were fighting for Aeris, and they emphasize that at the end when they show her looking up from that thing she was looking at in the beginning. A touching final look at what you had just wasted 60 hours of your life for. A lot of people think Aeris died because Sephiroth just got there first, but she wanted to die, it was the only way she could truly save the world and she trusted Cloud to help her take care of Sephiroth. She knew that her White materia alone would not save them and so by going into the lifestream she was able to use it to stop Meteor as you see in the ending. Quite a compelling plot if you ask me and the ending fits it so well. That and the fact that they showed Nanaki 500 years later with his young'uns overlooking the ruins of Midgar, which I might add also was a threat to the world during the game. I'd say it shows just how precious the world is and how much it's worth keeping and protecting. A real life message in a video game, never thought you'd see that did ya?

I've only seen two FF-endings. 6 and 7. And on FF6, my cartridge was broken (according to members here on this forum), and the FF7-ending wasn't too good. So I've never really seen a good FF-ending yet.

I have to go with FFX's ending. It was bittersweet and appropriate with the tone of the game.

I've only seen the endings in FF4, FF5, FF6 and FF7, and none of them were that great in my opinion. I'm not saying that they were bad or anything, but I'd expect more from a FF game.

I nulled because I thought none of the endings have been decent enough. The games are brilliant but I always feel so let down by the endings.
With FF6 I didn't actually realise about two of the characters being together until I read someone's fanfic. And I wanted to know what happened to Edgar and Sabin. And Terra's just seemed unrealistic to me, she didn't seem so upset about... everything. With FF7 the ending was just... open. Nanaki was the ONLY one of his species left... somehow it doesn't make sense. I liked the ending of the first disk much more. I cried my eyes out. Apparently they're making an FF7-2 though since FFX-2 did so well. I hope they don't. And I didn't understand what happened with FF9's ending. I mean you see the two planets becoming one like it was planned in the first place, what was that about? And by letting her necklace drop did it mean Garnet gave up her kingdom for Zidane? After all, can anyone imagine Zidane as king?? I did fairly like FFX's ending apart from Yuna's voice which grated on me, and the fact that they blatantly made it obvious there was going to be a sequel. At least they didn't end it with the words, 'To Be Continued' like a certain movie I watched recently. |

Don't know if this topic has been cover or not. So if it hasn't then here it is. Which FF game do you guys think has the best ending? I can't really add much because I'm going back through and playing the FF series again.

FF6 has the best ending I say. It covers everyone in your party and shows what they have learned and changed throughout their adventure...like every episode of South Park. A close second was FFX-2 (the good ending) it was perfect and the whole reason I bought the game. The worst of course was FF7 that ending made no sense and just pissed me off.

The endings i've seen are all good in their own way. But my favorite was 6 for the fact that the characters get their own (kind of) ending.
But the others that ive seen do deserve honerable mention FF Mystic Quest: Leaves much room for a sequal which i may consider building myself. (God bless RM2K) FF 4: Possible spoilers: highlight to view I liked the big celebration scene, if FF6's ending hadn't blown me away this would have won. FF 7: Possible spoilers: highlight to view There were a few things I liked about this one, for one thing Cid's ciggarette falls from his mouth in astonishment. I was just waiting for him to light up another one for the same thing to happen, lol. FF Tactics: I didn't really like this ending but it left room for a sequal, and call me crazy but I'm one of the few who have faith that Square will make sequals to some of these games. Yeah, I know there aren't that many listed, but I'm well on my way, once i beat FF9 ill go after 8 and finish off 5 on my comp. then beat my file on FFX. But i doubt ill try XI. By the way, good topic. This post has been edited by Neal on 30th March 2004 12:02 -------------------- Link: "What is it?" Mario: "It's coin, what the hell does it look like?" Link: "Well.... For me it's usually tied between Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy X. FFX's ending is fresher in my mind, so I'll go for that.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view I wasn't particularly attached to either Tidus or Yuna, but something about the ending was poignant and beautiful regardless. The intricate music and the gorgeous visuals really set the scene, too. I also liked Auron's big exit - his final appearance is as cool as his first. I have the same opinion as SM, and like him, I don't know if it's because it's more fresh in my mind or not. Regardless, I liked FFX's ending the best because:
Possible spoilers: highlight to view I thought that Tidus and Yuna's romance was very, very well done in the game. It wasn't just Squall and Rinoa randomly falling in love, it was much more gradual and real to life. When she ran through him on the airship, it was very sad, and seeing her whistle for him on the dock after she was back in Luca made me break down. Her speech was great, as well. I also really liked the music in FFV's ending.
