Does anyone remember this game for the gameboy colour?/ gameboy I thought it was AWESOME for a handheld game and an rpg I even found it more fun than chrono trigger. It was awesome, the whole time travelling thing and the airship you could upgrade to make it faster, have better weapons and you could explore your airship and get more crew. Then there were the secret magics(such as flare) and the heroic swords. Just wondering has anyone else played this great game? If not I suggest you try finding a copy it's cool.

I'm not really sure, I've only played final fantasy 7, 8, 9 , 10 dirge of cerberus ff7 and final fantasy legend III hmm but let me put it this way, it's a turn based very basic game you have 4 commands (from what I remember) which are Fight Technique, Magic and Item I think techniques were only available when your character was turned into a mutant(by certain monsters attacks). You basically walk around villages collect chests kill bosses and do turn based battles which shows 3 characters and your enemies on the other side of the screen, ur chars are at the bottom when you use a move like fight with a character with a sword he'll go forward a tiny bit swing his sword and you'll see a slash on the enemy character. When you use a technique like karate you'll hear a load of punch type noises and ur character will be covered in the classic fighting smoke stuff. Then you got guns where the enemy looks like it's being shot by the same little ball no matter what gun you use. Magic hmm you got fire which makes a nice fire effect lightning with a nice lightning effect etc etc. You can only have 3 people in your party at once but the enemies can be more than 3 the bosses are moderately difficult and the game is slightly tough but a brilliant game. I don't know if this describes it very well, I'm sorry but I tried my best.

Wait a second... You can have four party members at once.... Your starting characters are the four orphans, plus you have NPCs that come by every so often like Faye and Dion... Are we talking about the same FF Legend III?
FF Legend III isn't actually a Final Fantasy game - it's the third game in the SaGa series. You can class change from either Human or Mutant (the two default classes) to robots, cyborgs (robo-humans), monsters, or beasts (sort of were-monsters). It's a little more story-driven, less difficult, and less class-intensive then FF Legend II, but it's pretty good for an early-90s Game Boy RPG. I remember having fun with it, but it has been awhile. I'm not even sure if I still own it.... -------------------- |

That's the one, and isn't dion the guy that blows himself up with a bomb inside his body then he gets cloned? So it's not actually part of the FF series? It's completely different from final fantasy? Even though it's called "Final Fantasy Legend III" ?

Like I told you in the FF Top 10 thread, the FF Legend games are not really part of the Final Fantasy series. They're part of the SaGa series. They were renamed 'Final Fantasy' with the hope that the familiar name would be more popular with American consumers. They did the exact same thing with Final Fantasy Adventure, which is a Seiken Densetsu game. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Well, that's just copyright enfringement they should've sued the company for making them or asked them to rename their game. Now people like me get confused >.< arrgh! Why didn't squaresoft do anything about it?

Oh...then what makes it "NOT a final fantasy game?" It has FINAL FANTASY in the title and it's made by squaresoft? You're confusing me.

Are you doing this on purpose? One last time: In Japan, where all of these fabulous games originated, Square is responsible for several series of RPG games. Among these series are Final Fantasy, Seiken Densetsu, SaGa, etc. Final Fantasy was the first series to really catch on in the US. When they localized the first Final Fantasy game, they kept the series name, which became a strong brand--easily recognizable to video game fans. Later, they decided to try their luck with other series, but they wanted to hedge their bets. They released games from the SaGa and SD brands under the name Final Fantasy in hopes that they would sell better. All the games called "Final Fantasy Legend" are distinctly part of the SaGa series, NOT the Final Fantasy series. "Final Fantasy Adventure" is the first Seiken Densetsu game, NOT a Final Fantasy game. Rose. Any other name. Think about it. FF Legend 3 is a SaGa game regardless of the title is was localized under. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Ah ok, thanks that clears it up. I hate the way americans/europeans have to do that. I'd prefer if they kept the original names. However they like the whole chronological mess up they made of the ff series mentioned by the angry video game nerd from www.screwattack.com and cofusing us simple folk by changing the original names.
