also you should use weapons with triple materia growth on them

obey the triple-growth rule and NorthCrater ideas stated above, but also make sure the team you're using are the ones who are strongest since they will finish the most battles the fastes, allowing you to encounter whatever enemies and dispatch them fastest.

Also, you could try beating the weapons and doing a lot of the side quests, if you didn't finish them (such as the Gelnika thing). They can give a LOT of experience, as far as i remember

For AP I found it best to go back to the Ancient Forest. Land the Highwind in the small area between the forest and the Forgotten City (North of Bone Village) and go south. You'll get to the two-screen area between Bone Village and the Forgotten City (where you get I believe a Water Ring from a treasure chest and have to walk through a hollowed-out tree trunk). Enemy parties within yeild 200+ AP per fight.

Go to the WEAPON chamber in the Northern Crater, where the music is different, the same music you hear before the WEAPON awakening.

Triple growth weapons, Double growth armors.

You will encounter MAGIC POTS and JUMPERS in this area of the Northern Crater. They are the ones with massive amounts of AP. The Jumpers will not give any experience, but they will provide you with 3000+ AP to your Materias in 3X growth weapons.

Cloud's 3X growth weapon is the Apocalypse sword found in the exit of the Ancient Forest. Cid has another 3X growth weapon, I think is the Scimitar, or the Javelin, one of those I'm not sure. I don't remember who had another one of those 3X growth weapons, I remember that I used Barret's Drill Arm, which has 2X growth.

The Magic Pots have a lot of experience, but you have to give them an Elixir, which are not many found in the game, UNLESS, you W-ITEMIZE them. If you have the W-ITEM materia found in the end of the train tracks in Midgar (The Return/Assault), then you can just multiply your Elixirs until you have 99 of them. If you DON'T have W-ITEM, then you can steal an Elixir from MASTER TORNBERRY, in the same place you fight the Magic Pots. Also, you can morph Master Tornberry into a Ribbon.

If you didn't pick up the W-Item Materia during the Midgar raid, you can still dig it up in Bone Village.

Other than that, just follow the advice above, what with double/triple growth equipment and feeding Magic Pots Elixirs and such.

My friend and I found that for first disc levelling, the Head Hunters in the Mideel Area are the way. You can fight them in teams of four so they can also be good for getting limits. If you don't fancy trekking all the way down the northern crater then try them out. 80AP x 4 enemies x triple growth = 960AP. Easy when you can just use Flash or Slash-All to win the fight. wink.gif And like I say, you're right on the world map so you won't have to climb the distance to use your newly powered materia.

Alternatively you could use an auto-levelling technique. Here's one I use. Requires a rapid pad. With the set-up below, just tape down your "circle" and "up".

Equip: (you're wanting growth, you get growth!)
Weapon - Anything with double or triple growth e.g. Ragnarok, Scimitar, Rune Blade
Armour - Rune Armlet
Accessory - Cat's Bell

Materia: (just put what you want levelled, but here's a few musts)
Pre-Emptive materia is an unsung legend of FFVII, use it!
I'd advise against Enemy Lure, you want plenty of time to let the Cat's Bells do their stuff, unless you want to level one up obviously.
I'd recommend using a Slash-All or Mega-All to kill the enemies the fastest, basic attack can let them beat you around for a while.
If you want a bit of security, you could have a mastered Cover with someone who has four or five mastered Counter-Attacks. If you're doing this make sure you're fighting opponents who only use physical attacks.

If you left that overnight I'm sure you'd have a few new materias in the morning. When I was using something similar to get Vincent to kill 65500 enemies, I fought against the flies in the Temple of the Ancient forest. They would be ideal for your AP needs. A guy who left CoN said that Sea Worms were good too. They can be found on the Mideel coastline and have 200AP a shout. Quite easy if you stick to basic attacks.

Even if you don't take this on board, hopefully there's some random bits of usefulness somewhere.

theres also a guide on Gamefaqs about an AP loop concerning a turbo controller and the Midgar zolom

but Magic pots and Movers (the red bouncing balls) are your best bet
