Yes, the Great Crystal can be very confusing and one can get lost very easily, but to avoid that and not having to memorize what does each name means, go to GAMEFAQS and look for the map in the FAQ's section of Final Fantasy XII, it is very helpful. It tells you where all of the bosses are, and other eqipments, such as Excalibur and the Zodiac Escutheon.
To blizzera god... You can get Ultima Blade with out having to sell loot. In Subterra in the pharos, you can find Ultima Blade in one of the treasure in Penumbra, I think. -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

The Great Crystal is easily the most evil place in the game. And I was nuts enough to go back. More than once, even.

Well, I couldn't take it no more and finished the game, but I'm planning on doing the remaining hunts. I got like 10-12 letf, can't wait to fight Yiazmat, and Omega Mark XII. To blizzera god... remember to equip the DIAMOND ARMLET when tryin to find the better treasures! yes, masamune + genji gloves is better, but having the both of them is even betterER.
To get the Excalibur requires you to have the Diamond Armlet. If it doesn't show up, just track back three areas and return to the crystal treasure, eventualy Excalibur will appear, but it only pops up once. -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

Alright,
Fair play i didnt think it was going to be as good and i thought i would hate the battle system. In all fairness to the game its so nice to play. A completely different experiance. If you all already bought it good on you for those who havent i suggest you go and get it as soon as you can its a PROPER good game. |

i recomend looking into the level loop thread.
you're also about to go to Tchita Uplands, were there are all manner of baddies for your killing pleasure. it can be a good place to train if you dont get yourself killed. -------------------- Aujourdhui a commence avec toi. |

I've found it quite difficult to die in Tchita. There are tons and tons of enemies there, but none of them are particularly strong. Heck, I've even dubbed that place "Distraction Land" because whenever I go there on a hunt or some kind of objective, I always get carried away with killing enemies and collecting loot.

im talking about the horde of malboro overkings in this one part...being severely crippled with tons of malboros attakcing you isn't fun. especially since the coerals (or however you spell it) get involved...

If you are having trouble with the Malboro Overkings in Tchita, go back to the Phon Coast and level up a bit. You can also try and do some hunts to get better armors.
Also, if you have the right equipment, the correct technikcs, and the correct items, you can kill Zeromus now. (Level 35 +) -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

Fifteen pages of this, and lots of random questions mixed in. If you have a specific question about this game, you should probably start a new topic and leave this one only for general impressions about the game. That way your question will probably be noticed more quickly, AND it will be easier for others who have the same question to get help.

This is strange, I bought this game a few days ago and it's almost like it was made for me.
It never stops reminding me of Star Wars. Instead of Luke and his father it's Possible spoilers: highlight to view The empire are a lot like a medieval army of Storm Troopers with airships and Tie-Fighter-like things. Basch and his brother Possible spoilers: highlight to view This is all complementary, it's a really engaging and worthwhile storyline. I actually care about what happens to the characters this time; haven't done so since IX.Also, you rescue a princess on their ship. I mean, come on! Almost straight away, I found myself fighting an overcharged, massive, unbeatable-at-this-point dinosaur. Once I died, I realised that this is just what I'd hoped for. I'm didn't grind Vaan to obscene levels to beat it on this time round (I'm just enjoying playing through it) but that's talent for the future. Speaking of which, I'm liking the run/don't run moments. Now there's no annoying bits where I could've taken out the guys in a few minutes flat but had to run. Admittedly, so far, I've not been able to kill any of them ![]() There is so much potential for a single-character game as well. Instead of killing the other two/three/four guys you can just move them out of your party! Genius. I'm definitely planning a lone-Basch game, or possibly Ashe (although she does appear a bit late.) It's like they know how I usually replay FFs - single character, level up too much, fight all losing battles - and have gone out of their way to make it possible and worthwhile. Here's hoping that FFXIII will be just as progressive. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

The starting movie was about five or ten minutes. Amazingly long considering we're talking one disc here!
![]() I played this three and a half hours straight earlier from the start and I have to say I am very impressed thus far. The setting is interesting, and so are the characters although it will be interesting to see just how much depth there is to their personalities. The the way the combat works shows vast improvements on past formulas, and it is very enjoyable. In past games, there was usually a sigh of annoyance when going into a random battle. But now it's a pleasure to run up to monsters which you can see from a great distance in an attempt to destroy them. Or simply run around them if you wish. The characters so far are particularly well spoken and articulate, which I am very happy about. There seems to be a huge amount of choice of how to set up your party and I am still getting to grips with these aspects of the game. It's all very good fun. We'll see how much I am enjoying it after a bit more time spent playing. I am definately optimistic. So far, FFXII rocks. I got this game when it first came out here, and straight away i was really impressed with the story, vastness and battle system of the game.
It was all new and different to me and I just enjoyed playing through it, the story kept me intrigued, even though I did have moments where I felt lost. I liked the characters, especially Balthier, I think he's really cool. ![]() Although I wasn't fussed on Ashe in all honesty. I liked most, the size of the game, and the way it wasnt too linear, you could travel to alot of places at alot of the time. Overall though, I really like this game and I think it's a fine addition to the series. ![]() -------------------- In the end, it boils down to two simple choices. Either you do or you don't. |

I must say, I simply adore this game. I am so hooked on it, despite when I get annoyed with dying, and mean enemies and annoying dungeony type areas, I still play it cos it's THAT awesome to me!
I'll admit, when I first bought it i hated it, but its really grown on me, even though it isnt 'typical' final fantasy. Squenix pulled off this kind of game really well. Im really looking forward to the Internation Zodiac something bla System thing theyre releasing.... whatever its called ![]() Oops Kay, just realised that I fully posted in a V old thread... sorry ![]() This post has been edited by ktk3 on 9th January 2009 04:28 -------------------- *Sigh*....Times are tough |

I probably played this game as much as I've played FFVII. There's such a huge potential for challenges and secrets. Every area has its own rare items and rare weapons. There's nothing I like more in a game than really difficult enemies you have to train and plan for, effort that is rewarded, and getting weapons early in the game that you shouldn't really have until later.
What makes the game stand out so much is also the choices available. You can choose to fight as a one man army, an Esper, a pair, or as a team. You've got the option right from the beginning to fight difficult optional bosses and monsters to win items. Also, the character development is flexible enough to make whatever team or individual you like. It's such a simple concept, but it pays off greatly. My friend and I shared a save where we would get everything possible at the start of the game and work our way through, chaining every monster as we went. We managed to beat the T-Rex at the start with Vaan on his own. Winning fights like that throughout the game is exactly what I wanted more of in RPGs before this came out. The story is strong enough to keep you involved, even when it feels more like an MMO. Ashe's conflicts are as engrossing as any other game I know. I really can't say enough good things about this game. I thought FFX was shockingly bad, so maybe I'm contrasting the two. I'm still debating whether or not to get a Japanese PS2 for the International version. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. I think it is a really good game. The scenes are very well done, and the design is impressive. It is imo one of the best FF games I've ever played.

I just got done playing it for the first time last summer, so I'll go ahead and post now.
Story/plot-wise, as others have said, it wasn't the best, but it was sufficient to keep me playing. That Vaan was the game's main character while Princess Ashe was the real star of the story (the way I see them, anyway) was kind of different. Media-wise, well needless to say, the game was beautiful! The soundtrack was on par with a lot of other games I've played; solid overall with a handful of stand-outs. I've no big gripes about the voicing, either. The gameplay was what I really liked, though. I accepted the Licence System as a good way to focus each character's development, at least at the earlier part of the game (later, I found the chars were swimming in more LPs than I could bother to use). The "real-time" battle system seemed a lot less static and provided a few more options in strategy than previous systems I've experienced, so it was a nice change. I guess I had somewhat mixed feelings about the Gambits and Quickenings. Gambits ranged from quite handy (since I couldn't always keep up with what was goin' on in battles) to close to playing the game for me. Quickenings ranged from clutch against various bosses and marks (what with their paling and renew reactions) to down-right cheesy. I guess things could have been a bit different with them, though it's not like their use can't be moderated at the player's discretion. Overall, I'm glad they were included in the game. All in all, this has to be one my top 3 fave FFs (FFT and, possibly, VI are still better). -------------------- |
