To be honest, I encountered a weird occurence in my FFVI Advance game.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view When I went to this area, Lone Wolf stood there and just threatened Mog. He usually gives the option of picking either the Gold Hairpin or Mog. For some reason, I had to leave the area and come back for him to let me choose. Otherwise, it just kept saying the line of "One move and Ill kill him" (not a direct quote). Just try going in and out and eventually you should get this option. You just have to wait for Mog to escape on his own. Then go up and talk to him to recruit him.

It seems odd but in the PS FF anthology version you can make Mog escape in the first approach if you remove your sprint shoes (assuming that you are wearing any)

try this. just stand still for 10 seconds or more right when he says "one move and i'll kill him", and then Mog will do his thing, then your free to choose.

Go for the Gold Hairpin instead. It halves MP cost. And you can recruit Mog later on (regardless of who you talked to) in the moogle cave room. His dances aren't really that useful (atleast compared to physical characters like Cyan, Sabin, Shadow, and Locke) in the game imo.

Personally, I disagree. Mog and his dances just help me run wild over the rest of the WOB, and I consider him invaluable on the FLoating Continent.

A gold hairpin is never necessary, and if you don't get mog in the WoB you'll never be able to get all of his dances (for completists' sake) Personally i rarely use him for his dances, but a gold hairpin is outdone by the nifty, economizer. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

In WoB mog is not really to useful. And In the GBA version of FF VI you can now get all of his dances in the WoR because
Possible spoilers: highlight to view One of the new espers is an underwater boss and mog will learn his water dance there I mainly just use mog for his moogle charm in the WoR, other than that he is pretty average on magic power and attack power |
