We all love the game, but let's be honest, we love some bits more than others. What are your picks for the best and worst bits?
Mine-- Favorites: Everything from Mt. Kolts to the battle with Kefka in Narshe. Especially the three sequence group split-up, and ESPECIALLY Sabin's Doma/Imperial Camp/Phantom Forest/Phantom Train/Veldt/Serpent Trench scenario. A perfect mix of frantic action, rich emotion, and wonderful humor. A close second is reuniting the team (and getting two new members) in the World of Ruin. Uplifting sense of hope returning to the world. Least Favorites: Without a doubt, the Imperial Magitek Factory. It just wears me down and I'm grateful everytime to get out with my skin intact. Tied for second would be Zozo. Monsters in town are bad enough, but did they have to be such annoying party-slaughterers? I have an easier time against Dadaluma than against the average group of goons. Also tied for second would be everything from the Magitek Factory to getting into Thamasa. Locke and Celes's little spat is the one plot point that never seemed realistic to me and just makes me roll my eyes. You guys? -------------------- |

One of my favorite parts of the game is the Sabin/Gau/Cyan/Shadow scenario and one of my least favorite parts is the Locke scenario.....I just can't freakin' stand it sometimes

Locke's scenario really drove me insane. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad had I not gotten lost... The Phoenix Cave is making me pretty angry, too. As for what I like, Kefka's "son of a submariner" scene and getting Edgar in general.

The Mr. Thou scenario is priceless, especially when you take a little trip to the Nikeah pub with Cyan in the party. ^_~ Also, I simply adore the opera scene.
Least favourite? I'd have to say Cyan's dream. The part with the Caves of Narshe and the Magitek armour was a pain in the ass and I thought it was a whole new level of weird when I found out that we were apparently in Cyan's soul. Hrm, I really liked the magitek factory :X I thought it one of the most fun places in the game, since it's right after you get magic, you find some really nice items there, and the whole place reeks of mood.
Nowadays, I like the Opera scene as well ![]() Least favorite would be terra and the kids in WoR. I think this to be the absolute worst character development part in the game, not because it didnt have good potential, but rather because it wasn't executed very well. Probably the translation. It's one of the few places in the game I welcome a retranslation. This post has been edited by Kaijyuu on 11th February 2007 00:25 |

There are so many wonderful scenes...I like the Opera, of course. I also like any scenes with Relm (meeting Relm, Relm after fighting Chadarnook, etc). And the world getting nucleified was also spectacular.
Other more emotional scenes are Terra and the children, along with Cyan's dream sequence, which was awesome. Surreality. ![]() -------------------- |

Wow, so many to choose from.
Favorites: anything in Narshe, my favorite town (especially fighting off Kefka's army). Zozo (dig the rain). Opera house (simply the staple moment for any FF game). Least: The Veldt. Honestly, I never liked developing Gau's skills. The WOR: felt like they just ran out of story. And worst of all, the Fanatic's Tower. Arghh If I had to pick a single favorite moment, I'd choose Celes' leap from the cliff - melodramatic, but it always gets to me... especially the music. Good question, by the way. |

You got my favourite moment there. Forever Rachel is one of the best pieces of music in that game, and it suits the moment perfectly. Runner-up would be when you get Terra back in the World of Ruin, and you fight with her in Esper form for the rest of the battle. Other favourites are the start of the game, Locke's Scenario and fighting off Kefka at Narshe. Least favourites are... The Magitek Factory. Terra's, Edgar's and Banon's Scenario All the time when Terra's not in your party in the World of Balance Above all else, my leave favourite moment in the game iiiis.... Getting Strago. I cry every time I try to struggle through that part of the game. |

It is impossible to pick a favorite scene out of all of them, but if I had to pick a few, they would have to be anything between the three scenarios through the beginning of WOR when you get Setzer and the airship, plus the opening and the ending. Story-wise the game doesn't get any better than in that stretch. You've got the poisoning of Doma, the relationship of Celes and Locke, the coin toss, and
Possible spoilers: highlight to view the death of Leo and the Apocalypse You also have the always funny Mr. Thou scene and the opera scene. I also think gameplay-wise you have The Floating Continent, The Cave to the Sealed Gate, and the Magitek Research Facility. If I have to pick my least favorite scenes, though I don't have any, it would have to be the WOR. It seems that the story wasn't as good as the WOB, but I guess that is because the WOR is non-linear compared to the WOB. So I guess the story was good for a non-linear style of game, but I prefer The WOB to th WOR just a little bit. -------------------- |

Possible spoilers: highlight to view You'd expect something like that to be slightly more drawn out. When it happened, it happened really quickly, so I was just there, like... Wow I never realized so many people don't like the magitek factory, that is one of my favorite, I love the music in there and I love Kefka's evil disregard for the espers!
My least favorite would have to be when you control the when you are in the esper world. I know that it is one of the biggest turning points in the game but it just seems unnecessary to have to control it instead of it being a cut scene. |

Possible spoilers: highlight to view drove me crazy until I eventually gave up and we know what happens next. I loved the Floating Continent, especially the fight with Ultima Weapon. Least Favorite (top 6, because six is one better than five)(Also, only covers the World of Balance, because I haven't been through the World of Ruin yet- at least, not for ten years or so)
6. Magitek Research Facility. Love the music, hate the monochromatic color scheme, and the fact that you fight the same three enemies every other step. That, and the treasures are so far out of your way that they almost aren't worth getting. 5. The Esper World Interlude Human-Esper Forbidden Love, torn apart by Gestahl. Just show us. We don't need to play through it. Especially without Sprint Shoes. I HATE walking that slow. 4. The Decisive Narshe Battle If you could get all seven of 'em in one party all together, that would ROCK. But you can't, and there's almost no good way to split them up. And there are WAY more enemies walking around then there should be. 3. Locke's Scenario Don't care. Especially that basement bit. It's like the MRF, only there's one less enemy per battle (but you still fight every other step). 2. The renaming of EVERYTHING in FF6A. Where the blue blazes do these names come from? Zhagrem? They're BANDITs. Bandits are GREASEMONKs. And what is SKY supposed to mean? And Rising Phoenix for that matter? And how the hell do you pronounce "Catoblepas"? ANd my favorite line of the game- Don't tease the octopus... GONE. Argh. 1. Anything involving Relm Shut up already. We get the idea that you're precocious and overrated. Favorites (Top 6, cause 6 is one better than 5)(Also only covering WoB) 6 Terra's Scenario. Short, sweet, to the point. In, out, done. 5 The Floating Continent Good way to get magic points and experience at the same time, plus lots of various enemies, and you don't battle every other step. 4 Any Battle with Ultros He's just so much fun to kick in the rather hard-to-find Octopusian Area 3 Terra Hhhhhhhhooooottttttt. 2 Dinner at Gestahl's Can't even tell you why. I think it's the fact that you have the chance to miss out on different prizes. All the options and stuff. Talking to the soldiers. I don't know. I just like this scene. 1 The Opera Scene. Say what you will about the original, and you can say alot, but the new and improved Opera Scene is so kickass, I played it five days ago, and my butt still hurts. Celes is now FINALLY a soprano instead of an alto, the words rhyme, and they actually *shock, horror gasp* fit with the music! It's so much better than the original that I can't even begin to praise the scene too highly. I know a lot of people hate it, but I love it, even more than I loved the original, and I'm a guy who loves his Celes. -Rifty |

My least favorite part is probably feeding fishes (you know what I'm talking about).
My favorite part...well, a ton of them. A sidenote about Zozo--I actually liked that scenario. Zozo always entertained me just for the sheer weirdness of the place, and the funny music. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. My favorite sequence in the game is the 3 scenario section. I wish with all those characters, they split up and did different quests more often, only to finally come together for 1 decisive battle..
I also enjoy the middle of the game, when you loose everyone and have to start from scratch (pretty much). My least fevorite sequences are in no particular order: 1) The Esper World/Terra Flashback, I dont like how all you do is walk/talk would be cool to fight as an esper. 2)The Opera sequence, I may be the minority, and I know its the defining moment in the game, I get annoyed when that part of the game comes up. |

Not to clutter things, I'll put my top 3 and bottom 3:
Top 3: 1) The Veldt. I always do Sabin's scenario last, so it feels REALLY good to reach the Veldt and realize that I'm almost home free. You get Gau, who is one of my favorite characters both for personality and gameplay. Always a nice place to return to earn AP and fight rare enemies. 2) Kefka's Tower. I thought the whole dungeon design was well planned, and its one of my more favorite dungeons in the final fantasy series. 3) Triangle Island. I don't really like Gogo. I rarely use him, except to be different and interesting, but the whole idea of having a dungeon inside a random encounter monster was pretty freakin' cool. Just wish it was bigger, maybe with a town and more stuff to find. Bottom 3: 1) Everything with, about, or incidentally featuring Banon. What a pain in my rear. Keeping him alive in a world full of phoenix downs is ridiculous. 2) the NW continent. Jidoor's annoying auction house, Zozo with its death-dealing badness, and the Opera House. While I like the Opera itself, I HATE HATE HATE HATE Ultros, and his stupid 5 ton block. 3) Magitek Research Facility. Its pretty awful, with its weird cart battles that MAY or MAY NOT include the only place to obtain a single freakin' enemy, the cranes - which have always been my bane in this game, and the whole interior itself. Exception goes out to the music, which ROCKED. -------------------- Oh sure, I don't have to get kicked in the junk to activate it, but I like it anyway. -- Thief commenting on the difference between Throw and Blue Magic. |

My favourite parts are the opera and when you fight atma weapon, i enjoyed that fight.
My worst parts were probably locke's scenario and zozo, what a pain that was. I always got lost as well. Oh you gotta love the fights with Ultros ![]() -------------------- In the end, it boils down to two simple choices. Either you do or you don't. |

My Favorite Part of the game was when I beat it. The Ending was spectacular.
Other good parts of the game included : 1) Magitek Factory. Great music, great enemies, and great Espers. 2) Kefka's Tower. Great music, treasures, bosses, etc. etc. 3) The Gilgamesh battle. It was pretty fun ^^ Least Favorite? Oh boy, where do I start.. 1) Cyan's Dream. The first part killed my eyes, the second part with the train and chests took forever and ever, and the Magitek Part was fairly annoying as well. 2) Getting Enough money for the Gilgamesh battle... I don't know why, but in the FFVIA version, I am so broke every time I need money now. It's getting on my nerves >_> 3) The first part of WoR. Celes wasn't really one of my main developed characters, and I found out that going through the house to rescue the kid was a bit harder than I thought. I died like 8 times :/ 4) Opera Scene : BORING 5) Esper Cave : Another intricate maze with eye-killing lava :/ |
