I've been having a much harder time than ever before. Of course, I also haven't been leveling at all because I want to be able to get as many Esper bonuses as possible. But Ultros could one-hit kill any of my characters, and Tunnel Armor very nearly won. Since levels don't do anything but give you HP, that seemed pretty weird.

I thought it was a tad more difficult as well. But as was mentioned, I havent been leveling up as I usually do, because I am rushing toward the WoR so I can attempt the added content.
For what its worth. I was sorta hoping that Square put one of the crazy Revive Leo rumors into the Advance verson. Much like the secret cow level made its way into Diablo II because of the false rumors of said level in Diablo I |

It's always been easy, at least to me. I'm not quite finished with the WoB yet, though, so I might just not be far enough to appreciate any change in difficulty.

It's been a little more difficult for me, too, but I also think it has to do with me going through it faster than I usually do, so I'm not as levelled up as I was used to being before.
Ultros totally wiped out two of my characters on the "protect Banon" mission, and then proceeded to smack Bannon into submission, and I got a game over. I kinda sat there for a second in denial, thinking, "Hey, wait... I've NEVER GAME OVERED HERE BEFORE!!" ^^ |

Quote "Hey, wait... I've NEVER GAME OVERED HERE BEFORE!!" ^^ That happened to me as well. Granted I havent played this game since High School (95-96). Now 10 years later, I cant believe Im playing again, I actually forgot 1/2 the secrets from the original, like the Time for the Clock in Zozo, had to figure it out. Its like playing the game again, for the first time. |

Agreed, I try to not gain levels until I get setzer and mog and quite frankly found that to be very very hard. I wiped on every major battle besides vargus. Im happy to report that ive made it passed that but was very irritated at the long opera scenes as no save between that an the ulrtos battle made for quite a long few attempts.

I made a topic about this a few weeks ago. I found the Advance versions of FF1, 2, 4 and 5 to be a lot easier than any of their other ports. They also play a lot faster as well. Nice to know FF6A is the same.

I think it's easier too, but I've never played the Playstation version myself, My cousin had that one. The beastiary has helped me a lot. On the SNES version, when I would start Sabin's scenario, I would only have his Metal Knuckles, I didn't know that you could steal Mythril Claws. I think I'm just paying more attention to the game now that it is portable.

Quote (LadyArmageddon @ 12th February 2007 10:53) is the GBA version easier than it's other two incarnations? The game has always been easy, but in FFVI advance, the bosses seem slower. dadaluma only managed to hit me once before I killed him, and the average level of my characters was 9, even the cranes at the end of the magitek faculty. Barely did anything to my characters. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

There have been a few changes to the difficulty. One change that I really didn't care for was in Mt. Zozo, where
Possible spoilers: highlight to view I don't know if this was the plan from the beginning that didn't work in the original release, but it made that dungeon a pain in the rear. all of the enemies suddenly have ridiculously high evasion. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Just because there's been a slight change in stats doesn't mean it's any harder than before. FFVI to me has always been the easiest of the six. I have experienced some enemies are much slower than before.
The new bosses better make up for such an easy game. |

Neal, they fixed the evasion bug, so they're probably dodging as much as they were originally meant to.
Seems about the same difficulty to me :X Havent died once. |

Seems like they disallowed Vanish + Doom on bosses. Tried it on a few, no dice.
Also, I met Leviathan, and, he opened the fight with a move that killed my entire party >_> I hate leveling up :/ P.S. I can't seem to get any of my Blitzes to work.. Any help here? Been here blitzes for pretty much every time Sabin comes up, but none of them work. Only Pummel, Aurabolt, and Suplex. Kind of sucks >_> |

The Blitzes that require diagonal buttons mean that you have to press one of the two indicated buttons. For example, for 'up-right', input up or right.
The game seems just as easy as it did before. The only thing I had a bit of trouble with was the bonus dungeon, of course. And don't get me started on the monster rush. >_> That thing is a nightmare come to life. As for which new espers were a pain in the neck, I'd have to say that Gigantuar is a real jerk. -------------------- |

It's at least my 20th run through of this game. Only died once so far on a SlamDancer in Zozo for not paying attention. Haven't used a tent, or abused any unfair strategies if they're even possible. Then again I do have a tendency to use Low Level Game strategies where applicable out of habit.

Final Fantasy VI is an average difficulty game. The catch to that is that you can choose to make it easier or harder. Most people choose to just overpower themselves. It's not as though it's hard, you can abuse espers to get the stats you want, everyone can have any and all spells. I've game overed a few times. Partially because i'm just too lazy to buy things like Phoenix Downs, and before you have the life spell it can create a dilemma. Fought Dadaluma with just Celes and Sabin, thought I was gonna win. Then he chucks some knives that hit for like 800. Killed me.

It may just be the fact that I had about 3 hours to kill in the past few days between classes and just sat leveling that is making it easy. My characters are all in the low 20s, 23 highest, 21 lowest, and Im about to enter the Magitek Research Facility. Then again, this may not be bad since I wanted to have a file finally where all characters were level 99 and have all magic.
Im enjoying it though, and the new script makes things interesting. -------------------- I reject your reality and substitute my own... |
