Did anyone else find these guys unbelievably easy? It could just be the fact that it's FF5A as opposed to the original or PSX version, but still...
Omega died really quickly, only two rounds of attacking. !RapidFire and !SpellBlade (Thundaga) took him out in two attacks, with my other three characters using Romeo's Ballad to hold him in place. Shinryuu was tougher. Faris used !RapidFire and !SpellBlade (Flare) Bartz used !Jump (Armed with Partisan and Masamune - never bothered to get the Dragon Lances) Lenna used Meteor and Flare Krile healed and cast Dispell a lot. It took roughly five minutes of fighting, but Shinryuu died quickly too. I hope NeoShinryuu and Omega Mark 2 are tougher. Well if you use the cheap moves, like X-Fight + Spellblade, and Coral Rings, then of course they're easy.
If you want a good fight, beat em normally, rather abusing their weaknesses. Omega MK II and NeoShinryu are indeed tougher, in a sense. Omega MK II switches his barrier, so rather than just using X-Fight + Spellblade Bolt3, you have to guess which element he's weak to. Other than that, not much harder. Neo-Shinryu is easier, but only in the sense that his attacks are weaker. Jump doesnt work so well, Tsunami isnt as powerful but his other abilities are stronger, he has a 50% chance to avoid all damage caused to him, and revives once. Basically he has 4x the HP of most any other boss in the game. But like I said, his attacks are much weaker. He's easily healed through at mid 60s levels, and hence easier in total. It's not cheap to spend ages levelling up, getting a good combination of abilities and using it to your advantage. With Omega Mark 2, does he absorb other elements or just not take damage/take minimal damage from them? |

Yes, their weaknesses were put in there for a reason. It's so casual players could still beat them; they were made not to be super enemies actually, but one you could beat easily if you had the correct "key", so to speak.
Like I said, abuse weaknesses and every boss in the game is easy. If you want a challenge, give yourself a challenge, and dont harp on the game because they made it possible for those who arn't inclined to build up characters. And I didnt check with Omega MK II, though I believe he doesnt absorb anything any more than Omega did, just different strengths/weaknesses based on his barrier change. Edit Didnt mean to be as harsh as I was, but my point's in there somewhere, and I cant think up a softer way to say it ![]() This post has been edited by Kaijyuu on 7th February 2007 19:33 |

Nahh, you have a point there. I just think it's a bit harsh to call the !RapidFire/!SpellBlade combo cheap. It's strategy, much like Final Attack + Phoenix in FF7.
Do you know if NeoShinryuu has all the same attacks as Shinryuu? If it has Roulette, I'll cry (that attack took out Faris twice when fighting Shinryuu. It wasn't as bad as if it had killed Krile, but it was very inconvenient) |

Well, that puts my mind at ease. Kinda.
I've been running through the extra dungeon, and what's hit me those most is the distinct lack of save points. Granted, I'm not that far into the dungeon, but still. There are few save points and a lot of running around, with an increased encounter rate. Some of the battles are getting tough, when I'm retreating, once again, to the only save point to try to get some MP back =/ |

Neo Shinryu wasn't too tough for me (I just Rapidfire'd with two Dragon Lances, healed/Mighty Guarded when necessary. Oh, and Dispel for his Mighty Guard). I beat him with a party in the 40s, as with Enuo.
Now, Omega Mark II on the other hand...he wouldn't be so bad if he wouldn't take two turns to say, use Surge Beam on my entire party, or use Encircle twice. ;__; I haven't beaten him yet. -------------------- |

So I just beat Omega Mark II.
I'm not disappointed in this one either =D First thing it did was kill my primary attack (Faris), so I had to use a turn reviving her. In that turn, it decided to attack the rest of my party. Again, though, it can be stopped by Romeo's Ballad. I managed to Slow it was well, using Combine (Blitz Shot and Turtle Shell). Flare Sword & RapidFire took it down though =D On to NeoShinryuu! =DD |

So he doesn't have Roulette. Instead, Neo Shin has the most powerful shot in the game, a 7000 point Almagest. But of course, Almagest being what it is, should present no problem since you beat Omega v2 first...

Beat NeoShinryuu too.
It's official - NeoShinryuu is the single toughest boss in that game. About three out of every four attacks was nullified. Every time I cast Meteor, it hit for about 50 damage. I was lucky to be doing 4000 damage a turn with FlareSword/RapidFire. I went in, and with its first three attacks NeoShinryuu decimated me, using Maelstrom and Ice Breath. I went back in with Ice Shields and Coral Rings equipped to everyone. Its third move this time healed everyone to full HP. Krile and Lenna both had double cast and two of the four main magics each, so Krile was serving as my healer and Bahamut-er, while Lenna was constantly haste-ing, slowing, Meteoring and Flaring. Faris had Flare Sword and RapidFire the whole battle. Bartz had combine and mix. He spent the first four rounds mixing the potion to increase Faris's level by 20. Then, he combined BlitzShot and usually Dragon Fangs or Turtle Shells. After about an hour of pain, I won. |

Hm, I still think Omega Mark II is the toughest. But yeah, what I did for Neo Shinryu was equip everyone with Ice Shields and Coral Rings, except for Krile, who dualwielded/Rapidfired Dragon Lances. Lenna dualcasted Time and White, with Hastega and Dispel for Neo Shinryu's Mighty Guard. Faris dualcasted Black Magic and Summons, which consisted of just summoning Golem or Phoenix as necessary. She also helped out with dualcasting Flares, which surprisingly I had no problem at all with Neo Shinryu's 'random damage nullification' thing he has going on. My mages (Lenna/Faris) had Sage's Surplices and Gold Hairpins on for less MP consumption/not getting silenced (If I recall, one of the superbosses uses that one Time spell that silences everyone). Butz just chilled out with Mighty Guard, and didn't really do much else since there wasn't any way I was going to spam Steal and Return for another two hours just to get more Dragon Lances.
I should also point out that I got lucky and he didn't use his Almagest, which would have destroyed me, like it did the first time I fought him. I was all 'oh, well this isn't so bad' and then he's all 'Almagest' and I that was sure entertaining seeing four numerals in the 6,000 range appearing out of nowhere. -------------------- |
