Just like the title says, for lack of a better term. What are some of the blonde moments you've pulled in a video game. Things like, you're trying to solve a puzzle and do everything thinkable but the one thing, and when you do in fact accomplish it, you realize how obvious it is. Kind of like "...oops."

I've got a bunch under my belt, but the most recent one would be with Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii. There's one point where you become the wolf and have to get out of a prison cell. The hint is, "HEY MAYBE YOU SHOULD DIG" there's this OBVIOUS box over in the corner of the room. So I go and start digging at the box. Nothing. I start digging around the room. I try everything I can possibly think of for about 40 minutes, and finally on ACCIDENT I attack and break the box. I didn't realize the wolf could y'know, attack. Because I forgot you had to shake the Wiimote to do so. Whoooooops.

I remember playing that tedious game, Breath of Fire, where I went to this one dungeon in this mole character's dream world (name escapes me). I went up this tower and stumbled into this stupid floor where you had to walk around moving tiles or something like that.

If I walked on one, they had a pointing arrow that would automatically move me there till it's flat ground. I really sucked at it for hours, and then just realized I've been doing the same thing over and over again, so I spotted a better strategy out of that damn puzzle.

Man, I was so pissed off. Good thing I beat the game and stored it away.

I've had millions of blond moments during games! The one that sticks in my mind the most is one I pulled during Tales of Symphonia. In the very first dungeon, there is this monster that turned into a block when I killed it. Earlier, Genis and Kratos hinted that you have to drop the block down to complete the path below. Now, I couldn't figure out what to do with the block. My sister had to point out what to do and she's never let me live it down.

I usually get going too fast and run right past things or miss small details. I can spend hours running around in circles yelling, "I can't figure this out!" when the answer is right there.

I spent weeks on this one part in Jak II where there was this beam. I thought you had to walk across it, so I kept trying over and over. It was literally impossible to walk on it, so then I tried jumping across by bunny hopping on the beam. I got like half way across but then a turret started shooting at me and knocked me off. So, finally I press tis button that gets out your jetboard, and I grinded across. It literally took me WEEKS to figure it out, which is so stupid because I knew that you could grind, I had done it before.

Blonde moments are a huge factor in my daily life. D: I think the worst one ever, though, was when I was playing Final Fantasy IX. I was in... whatever place it was that had the elevator lift puzzle. Let's just say it seemed like Zidane forgot how to go up a flight of stairs. I spent forever rearranging those lifts and running at the stairs, trying in vain to reach the next floor. Then, as I tried to go up the stairs just -one- more time, I must have tilted the control stick or something because all of a sudden, I discovered that the staircase was spiral. *headdesk*

I also have a plethora of blonde moments in my daily life. In video games, I it takes me a while sometimes to walk up a flight of stairs or two, figure out how not to crash constantly when I do play my bro's Grand Theft Auto games, and countless others.

One thing I do recall clearly is when I was playing Phantasy Star II, it took me forever to find a girl you had to find rather early in the game to advance the plot. The blonde moment here is, she was right in front of me the whole time was I was walking around aimlessly encountering one random battle after another.

Back in the 90s, I was playing Pokemon Red and got stuck in Cerulean City. I defeated Misty and Rival and went to Bill's House, yet there was no way I could leave the city. I spend lots of hours wandering around and trying stupid methods, talking to every NPC, visiting every house. Finally, I re entered every house and in one of them I noticed and white spot in the wall. I decided to walk towards it ( I hadn't thought so before) and then I appeared outside the house. I felt so dumb for taking so long in discovering such an obvious thing (tough I put the blame on the Gameboy's lack of colors...)

I had quite a few blond moments in Pokemon. The one that I can think of right now is trying to get to Saffron City, when the guards are parched. Did I know what parched meant? No. Eventually I had bought a drink, and then they took it, but I hadn't connected the two...Took me DAYS...

FFVI : Sabin vs Vargas!

It started out as me thinking I was supposed to kill Vargas. I didn't notice the "blitz" command for a long time. (or understand it at least)
It took me around 10 tries to being button mashing Blitz to finally get it!

Same thing with the first shell boss.. I didn't know you werent supposed to attack the shell.. got my arse kicked.. numerous times..

Hehe, you're not alone in the "How the hell do you beat Vargas!?!" thing. It even took me a game over before I realized that I wasn't doing something right... XP

Blue Dragon gave me a blonde moment. The instructions tell you to aim for the red light. So I aim for the red light, right? ...nope. First fight, game over.

Or how about in Final Fantasy, where I went through almost two discs of FF9 before I realized I could actually change equipment and equip abilities...? ^^

For me it's usually, Oh I guess i'll have to do something involving that doohicky later in the puzzle.
and of course when the time comes my mind thinks i've already done, So I'll be running around "What have I missed!"
normally I'll eventually find it in 4 minutes, but occasionally it's drifted to 20.

Haha, yeah, I did practically the same thing the first time I played FFIX. I didn't understand that I had to leave my equipment on to learn the abilities. ;

Similar situation in Valkyrie Profile 2. I was totally lost when it came to the 'Rune Skill' system, until I figured out that it lists what runes are necessary to form a skill if you press triangle on the skill screen...

I went through until Chapter 5 with only starting skills and 'First Aid'. xD

First time playin FFVII I was so convinced that I was unequipping materia...until I realized that I didn't have any more...I was throwing them away...FFVI against Vargas...I kept hitting the 'A' button when I chose blitz...never inputting any commands ( I still do that when I rush)

I was a soldier, now I just play one in video games.

Max Payne. It was one of those scary dream scenarios where there's a thin line of blood going into a black void you have to walk across. I fell off loads obviously but kept quick-saving. You can guess the rest... I fell off the edge and quick-saved instead of quick-loading just as I was falling... Had to start from the beginning of the last level. And put up with Max's constipated facial features for a good 15 minutes more than I should have done.

Imagine. You're at school, in the common room. Your rival (of sorts) challenges you to a 2v2 on the PES 4 - on the PS2. Everybody's watching. The game begins. I'm absent-mindedly watching the radar (minimap). I'm used to seeing red as enemies and green as friends. It's Nigeria vs Egypt. I "beat" my own defence and press X for a tap-in. Everybody's still watching.

I must have got stuck in puzzles on Pokemon loads of times, but I can't remember most of them.

FFVII: Y'know the bit after you first get Aeris, and you have to get to the Wall Market? I couldn't find the log on the route that you have to go over. I searched and searched; I even used a strategy guide, though it never helped. I abandoned the game for a few months, then I picked it up again. *poof*, I found the path.

When you have to fight Cecil's reflection in the mirror, I spent ages trying to figure how to win. I figured out what the text at the top of the screen was telling me, but I got it wrong again. I thought you had to "Defend", not just not press any button.

The game was Dragon Quest VIII. I was at the part where i had to follow empyreas (or w/e) shadow. I had NO idea what to do, because i skipped the cutscene thing. I was talking to the villagers absent mindedly and they wereall talking about a myth that if you follow emperyeas shadow, you go into the "Dark Realm". So i went to buy equipment, and STILL NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO, went out to train. so about 4 hours later, this frickin shadow appears OUT OF NOWHERE. and of course im like WTF OMG SHADOW LOL!!!!11!1!!1! so i ignored it. i noticed it a lil later and it was twirling around on the ground. me being stupid, went back to the village to heal up. talked to the inn person and she said "Maybe if you follow the shadow, she will meet you" of course im like....get off the bong. so i figure, ill go and train. the shadow is back, i follow it, and WHAT DO YOU KNOW? i moved on in the story

Yay for blonde moments!

What's almost worse, is when you take forever to learn something, but don't realize it was a blonde moment, and then have a friend play the game and expect them to take forever also... and then they get thru it like it was nothing, because contrary to popular belief, it was. I can't think of any specifics... but you know what i mean.

I like the blonde moment I had in Super Smash Bros Melee when I was throwing the bat at the punching bag to try and get distance on it. I was thinking, "I wonder how anyone could ever get over 100ft on this thing!"

My most recent trouble was with Trauma Center: Second Opinnion for my Wii.
One of the GUILT strains you deal with is a triangular puzzle with pins. The only way I beat the first one was to go slo-mo and pick everything off superfast like. When I actually had to do it for real later, I had to check the interweb for how to beat it. Had I actually read the thing about "isolating" it, it would have been no prob.

I've had two recently. The first was playing Twilight Princess, and I was fighting the bug boss with the wolf. I got him to fall on the water, and the tentacle-things popped out. I started to attack them all, making them go in, but they kept popping out. Eventually he got back up and I had to get him into the water again. This lasted for about 30 minutes, with no progress, when i was standing on him, and I accidentally pressed B. Yes, the attack that hits all surrounding targets in one go. The bug died there and then. It took me a while to figure out what actually happened, but afterwards I realised that, yes, that B button IS good for something.

Most recently, I was playing Lego Star Wars II for the DS. I was on the very first mission, and i couldn't figure out where to go. There was a door which i could hear laser shots behind, but othing worked. I eventually looked on a guide that said "use the switch on the side of the door to open it"

hahaha I did something equally stupid there

i couldn't win the battle (obviously) so i reloaded my save and leveled like a mofo and then actually beat him by fighting;

thinking damn that was a hard fight LOL

there was another thing that happened to me. In DQ VIII, i had to use the godbird soulstone. my party kept saying "why dont we fly around for a while?" so im like "what the F*** are you guys smoking???" then i check my inventory to use a herb. and i accidentally use it and i soar

In FFVI, when you're in the throne room and you're supposed to move like steps right of the queens throne and then five down or whatever......I didn't get past that for the longest time because I simply didn't press A

yep; he Is beatable. but man it was a hard fight

DQVIII is a beautiful game ; the only one I have ever bought a guide for
great artwork and worth the money

I was playing Trauma Center: Second Option.

It took me forever to discover that by turning the Wiimote you rotate the objects that you're holding/using. And that you can pull some objects out by pulling towards you.

Boy did I feel dumb.

i get dozens of these moments from most games i play. i can remember in FFVII trying to open the goddamn safe in nibelheim reading the clues wrong, getting lost, getting confused by those weirdo monsters, stepping on the creaky bit then going the wrong way, interpretting the numbers wrong - left 54 right 98 etc wrong wrong wrong lol.

i've had a LOT of blonde moments in games.... too many to even remember a good one....

so i have a lame one when i used to play chrono trigger with an emulator there's the part in the future where you open the path by push A, B, and L, R at the same time and unfortunately there was a glitch with the emulator and if you pushed any more than three buttons it wouldn't read..... and so without knowing it i spent an hour trying to push A,B,L,and R and couldn't do it it pissed me off
