Squenix is considering a port of Final Fantasy III, the only installment of the series that has not had a North American release, to the Gameboy Advance. Â The game would be a port of the Wonderswan version and not the old Famicom version. Â With the Wonderswan dying (plus it not evening seeing a North American or European release) it would only make sense to port this game.

Too bad? I'd much rather the last FF game not to make it over here (and, I hear, a pretty good one) would get the GBA remake treatment, as opposed to a SNES game we've already seen which would probably be a direct port.
It's not mentioned in the article, but as far as I know, the WSC version of FF3 was never released, and presumably never finished. So this may be the only chance anyone anywhere would get to play this remastered version. |

Hmm. What you say is true. I might have been better off saying "Too bad it isn't FF6 as well." -------------------- "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle |

I think this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. We get actual FF3, and a remastered beefed up steroid version at that. This might be the first game in a long time I buy if it ever gets passed.
I mean, we already have a rerelease of FF6 over here, a handheld would be really great, but why not release a game we haven't gotten here yet first? |

I'd be willing to be that Square Enix will either just let this go and forget about it, or REALLY pursue it with loads of hype and crap. FF6, on the other hand, has little to no chance of ever being ported to a handheld in the USA, sadly.

I think this is a silly idea. Put all the FF games on Sony systems except FF3, sillyness. I would much rather see (but we'll never get it) a port somewhat like the FF Chronicles that includes the FF3 game plus another Square classic from the SNES, Secret of Mana, put on the playstation.

I think we're all forgetting that Square is no longer one company.
If anything, the next batch of re-releases will contain one Squaresoft game, and one Enix game. I'd so buy a Final Fantasy VI / Star Ocean combo. |
