Being that it's my first time through FFVI, could you guys tell me what lvl you were at when you succesfully got through the floating continent. My characters are all like lvl 20-23. Is that high enough?

For you, probably not. I'm usually lvl 25-30 by the time I finish that part and I've played the game several times. I hear of others who aren't even past 10 at that point but those people know the game inside and out... tongue.gif

I'm usually 'round the same level(s). 20-23-ish, that is. Like Galsic said, you may wanna level up a bit more since it's your first time, unless you find yourself having little or no trouble at your party's current stats.

As general advice, be sure to swap Espers around and gain plenty of Magic Points while you're at it - those spells will come in quite handy towards the end of that area.

During my earlier playthroughs, I always made sure I was at level 25 at least for the floating continent. (Your characters will have just over 1000 hp apiece at that level) and I made sure to master all of the espers I had with every character by fighting the Intangir.

Nowadays I don't bother. I'm good enough at the game that it's not necessary, and I can be quite a bit lower levelled than that and make it past. It's more up to confidence. If you're not sure of how well you'll do, level up a bit, and give it a shot. You can always load your game and/or leave if you want, and do some more preparing.

If you play smart, 20 is more than enough. If you don't, you're dead in the water. Basic tips: Use Break on Behemoth and Gigantos, Sleep and/or Stop on Dragon and confuse the Wirey Drgn so they hit themselves with Cyclonic. Mute Apokryphos.

On my first run through I think I was level 30 and that was tough for me for the first little while. But, hey, if you can handle it, go for it

It's not so hard. I usually do ut with around 800-900 HP.

To finght Atma, just have one person cure every turn. Then use strong weapons and shadow's Throw. Also, equip someone with Earrings and use Bolt 2. That would do it.

I can't remember my levels, but I remember that my characters had around 1200-1600 HP when I battled AtmaWeapon.

First time I played through my brother told me to get up to level 40 blink.gif

Needless to say I got fed up around level 30-ish and took on the continent, and it was no sweat really. You could probably get by with level 25, especialy if you used better strategy than "smash your way through everything with Sabin and Edgar" like I did.

By the by, If you want to be the cheapest of cheap, get four wall rings and four cherub downs and stick 'em on your charecters before you fight Atma. You'll barely get a scratch from him, and can pummel away freely. (Remember to bring lots of potions though if you use this. Magic healing will bounce off you onto Atma!)

Yeah, level 20-23 is normal, I usually enter at the same levels and after the floating continentm I'm at level 26, so you're good. Its a bit hard after the floating continent, I'll recommend equipping the "Ribbon" relic to Celes, after Floating continent, of course.

Wow, thats weird, Im usually around like the teens/ low twenties when I got there. That could be why it was always so difficult. But yea, 25-30 is a great shot at doing it. And if you have to, just Vanish-Doom everything hard. Just make sure you have your espers mastered as Shinryu said. If you don't know, Intangir is on the triangle island. Small. You wont miss it. Just cast doom.

DJ has the perfect strategy. Just come with some MP and you can vanquish all in your path no matter how low your level may be.

I personally did it around 25. And I've done it with a Locke/Celes/Terra/Shadow party, and that means no Edgar or Sabin moves - just Steal, Runic, Morph and Throw - which would give most inexperienced players a headache during some parts.

"A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke
"Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm
"..." - Shadow
"I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes

I'm usually around Lv. 35-40 since I like to level up and have all my characters learn all the magic possible at that point in the game. Makes the latter half easier.

I dont know but, I always Used Terra HP 900-1000 Locke 1000 or above Cyan 1000 or above. I used edgar sometimes around 900 also. Setzer should be around 1000. I think this is what I did but I was too young to remember. Anyways I always cheat =x

Do what I do: Level up your characters like mad at the Floating Continent and the Gate to Esper World Cave (After going with Terra) to gain alot of EXP! My highest level at the end of part one was 48 and it was Locke.. Darn, he's SO strong with his Genji Gloves and Hawk Eye.

Do not forget to steal the*GENJI GLOVE* from the enemy Dragon and get the
*MASAMUNE*
........ OH!, and before jumping off the island make sure to select *wait*....then at about 5 seconds left Shadow will Come and you automatically jump onto the ship
Do not equip weapons that cast automatic death for you may fully heal some of your enemies.
There is a good solution to beating the Atma Weapon but it takes a while....
Equip someone with an Esper with a magic+2 ability. Level him up a bunch, say maybe 16 17 levels with the esper Equiped. Do the same thing with one more character. Now when you get to Atma Weapon those two characters ARE going to be your basic mages in the game......
Oh, I almost forgot teach them the ability RASP and OSMOSE. NOW go to Atma Weapon. AND......Rasp his sorry a$$ and Rasp some more ATtack with your two
attacking characters...and use their best attacks. Its pretty easy, especially
if you have cure equipped to your mages
