Music = life
let me lay it down, top 10 style--- 1) Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave/any other Tom Morello-affiliated bands that ever have been and ever will be 2) Nonpoint 3) Tool 4) 311 5) System of a Down 6) Local H 7) Stone Temple Pilots 8] Red Hot Chili Peppers 9) Offspring 10) tied- Foo Fighters, Papa Roach the bottom 3 bands alternate oftenly with my mood and/or will change if another band comes out that i like, but the rest are solid... always willl be my favorite musicians in general: Tom Morello, Timmy C., Brad Wilk, Zack de la Rocha (rage), Maynard James Keenan, Justin Chancellor, Danny Carey (tool), Mike DeLeo, Scott Weiland (stp), Wayne Static (static x), Bradley Knowell (sublime), Krist Novaselic (nirvana, eyes adrift), KB, Elias Soriano, Robb Rivera, Andrew Goldman (nonpoint), Shavo Odadjian (system of a down), Nick Hexum, P-Nut, Chad Sexton (311), Fieldy (korn), Scott Lucas (local h) and of course, the "fouding father of the bass", John Entwhistle (the who) god, i could go on forever with musicians who rock. like JLo, I'm biased to bassists considering that I'm one myself. ![]() -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lots of other stuff too I like. I don't like a lot of the newer 'rock'. Don't care for the whole rap/rock stuff that falls into that category. Don't like rap (haven't for awhile), 'modern' country, or norteno/tejano music (anything Mexican with POLKA in it). I'm a big fan of classic rock, classic r & b, 'old' country. I really started not liking today's music after about my junior year high school ( 97-98 ). After that, it was a lot of BOY BANDS, Wangsta Rap, Britney clones, and general suckage. Right now I'm currently listening to "One of These Nights" - Eagles. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." "Arthur Philip Dent?" "Yes." Haha, that's something I hear a lot. Actually, that's a genre mix up. Death Metal is mostly what you described a) satanism b) the act of killing oneself or others around you, or c) all of the above.... Now That might seem odd to some people, but trust me, they still are talented musicians. Black Metal on the other hand, deals more with stories of myths and legends of mythic creatures and demons and murders such as Jack The Ripper or Vladimir Tepes. It's story telling, hence the four page lyrics per song and insane kinda mental images you get. The growling and shrieking tends to turn a lot of people off, but hey, if you can understand Phil Anselmo, you can understand Dani Filth. But hey man, whatever floats your boat. Here's a few bands I forgot to mention. The Cure Banshee And The Sixousie SwitchBlade Symphony Symphony X Weezer H.I.M. (known in the states as HER) Lacuna Coil W.A.S.P. Poison Venom The Misfits The Eagles Ten Years After Jimi Hendrix Morbid Angel and yeah that's all. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

I'm a pop princess. I don't generally have an absolute favorite and I don't really listen to bands so much as just the artists not doing their own music. The group I'm currently in to is Atomic Kitten.

Whoa long time ago post. Um yeah I LOVE Pink Floyd. I love it. My favorite Song is Wish You were Here.
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skys from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here. I love that song ![]() This post has been edited by MogMaster on 22nd February 2004 07:53 -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. I don't listen to rock music much but Jars of Clay is an amazing group. Every one of their songs is fun to listen to.
As far as favorite musicians, that would include Steve Cole, Jeff Lorber, Brian Culbertson, Joe Sample, Chuck Loeb, Rick Braun, Boney James, David Benoit, George Benson, Richard Elliot, Mindi Abair, Gota Yashiki and Peter White. I really enjoy their talented songwriting and instrument playing abilities. -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

I don't feel like making a giant list of nothing, so I'll just say a little about my music preference. I was once an advocate of punk sucking, until I heard the Dead Kennedys. Until then I had heard things that were
![]() DK is my favorite band, I also like other bands of the era such as The Exploited, D.R.I., Dayglo Abortions, Crass, Dead Milkmen, The Misfits, and others; only a few of the punk bands around anymore appeal to me since 99% of "new punk" is garbage; The Casualties are fun, though. I'm also a ska fan, first brought into it by the band Mephiskapheles . Which extended to The Toasters, The Specials, Mustard Plug, Streetlight Manifesto, and others. Third wave is my favorite type, but I enjoy the occasional second or first wave from time to time. Primus is just amazing, and other things Les Claypool participates in. Les inspired me to play bass. I was once a huge metal fan, but I've come to let most of it pass. Tool, Opeth, and Slayer are nice from time to time. Industrial is ok from time to time. Classical music is nice, I don't know much past the basics on that though (Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi) ![]() I also sometimes put on music from games, namely FFIV and FFT, the games with the best tracks of the series. I refuse to keep favorite bands because bands can change so much from album to album. Insead, I go by albums. My top 10 (in no particular order)-
- The Second Stage Turbine Blade - Coheed and Cambria - Full Collapse - Thursday - Clarity - Jimmy Eat World - Magazine - Jump Little Children - Evil Empire - Rage Against the Machine - OK Computer - Radiohead - Make Yourself - Incubus - Blue - Weezer - Where Have all the Merrymakers Gone? - Harvey Danger - Why Do They Rock so Hard? - Reel Big Fish I'm surprised at the amount of bass players in this particular thread. I also play bass, so Getty Lee and Les Claypool are heroes of mine too. Also, any guitarist who played for Jacko is awesome in my opinion. He's not a good human being, but anyone who enlists Van Halen and Slash gets a gold star in the music department. |

Here's about my top 10, This is in no particular order, I like these bands in varing degrees depending on my mood.
The Beatles The Jimi Hendrix Experience The Pillows The Rolling Stones Nirvana Alice in Chains Red Hot Chilipeppers Blue Oyster Cult System of a Down Flogging Molly I'm also sort of a Manson fan, but alot of times he's too psychotic for me. And anyone who hasn't heard of Flogging Molly they're an Irish Punk/Folk band. It's a really odd combo I know, but they are the best live band I've ever seen. -------------------- "Like an Angel from the underworld, or a devil from paradise" Faye Valentine: Cowboy Bebop |
