Ok, while playing Lufia and the Fortress of Doom on my SNES tonight, I found something really weird that got me laughing... While I was talking around this town Saranghina or something, I talked to this NPC girl and she said...
"I hate all this sand. I wish I had fireworks." WTF? Stupid text isn't necessarily because of bad translation.

Punching the old lady in 'The Goonies II' for the nes "Ouch! what do you do!?". It's one of the only things from the nes that stuck with me all these years.

Oh, well, sorry if this was already posted, but I'd like to ask Cloud_Strife510 what game that screenshot he posted up was from.

Live A Live, best RPG for the snes ever.
Sadly it never made it over to the states, but it's quite comedic and has a lot of replayability. has a lot of funny stiff such as ![]() Before Grand Theft Auto not necessarily stupid, but funny nonetheless. and in an attempt to keep this post on topic. ![]() ![]() both from the wonderful NeoGeo. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I have one from the NES that has always rooted itself in the, "Is there something more?" category of my brain.
The original Dragon Warrior for NES: there is a walled town in the game, I forget the name, it's like the last town you encounter in the game. But there is a merchant woman wandering around the town that when talked to says: "I have no tomatoes. I have no tomatoes today." But, in such an old RPG... tomorrow never comes. So that's all I've ever gotten her to say. -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH! One thing that I can think of right off the top of my head is:
On Children of Mana, when you have to go to Star Lake to find Watts' apprentice, Ferrik says, "Let's look for Panza, who is missing." I think that is so stupid because why would you be looking for him if he isn't missing? -------------------- Why, hello guys! Quote (King Eddy @ 20th January 2007 21:48) One thing that I can think of right off the top of my head is: On Children of Mana, when you have to go to Star Lake to find Watts' apprentice, Ferrik says, "Let's look for Panza, who is missing." I think that is so stupid because why would you be looking for him if he isn't missing? I'll bet he was in the last place they looked too... wasn't he? I think some of the Pirate lingo from FFV in the poorer translations should be a runner up. It's way too thick for normal purposes. Had there been voice overs, maybe some of it would stay, but slowly dwindle. -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH! The guards in Deus Ex.
I'm crouching picking the lock of the grate to the vents and one comes over. Standing next to me with a flamethrower, he says: "I think the law's on to us." I pick it quickly and manage to crawl through and shut it behind me. He then walks off saying: "Must've been a homeless guy." -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

In FF9, if you change Steiner's name to Rusty, you'll get a lot of laugh when he keeps saying: "My name is not Rusty! My name is Adelbert Rusty!" :D

I once changed everyone's name in FFVII to Sephiroth...it got pretty confusing!
But the stupidest thing I've ever heard would have to be ''I am Error'' in Zelda II. Because of the bad translation (I think his name is Erroru in Japanese), I was sure he was like, an outcast or something and I felt really bad for him, even though he's just an ugly 8-bit sprite. -------------------- Son of a submariner! |

Oh yeah. We took that too far and called everyone Rusty. Very funny, but got confusing at times when you had to make decisions based on characters' name.
