It would seem that everytime i turn around in FFX I have to solve some sort of puzzle. Every time you enter a temple to receive a new Aeon...BAM! Hit in the face with a puzzle bomb. Whatever happened to the good times of Final Fantasy like in 7. Where you found materia after boss battles, in caves, etc. Especially in Belvelle temple when you had to wait and wait to be transported across the cybernetic walkway. I fell like Jecht, "Ah gimme a break."

So I would like to hear who else found the puzzles in FFX to be annoying and which one was their least favorite.

Let the games begin. smile.gif

I found some of the Cloister puzzles to be really irritating (Bevelle, anyone?), but I don't recall the puzzles to be too frequent or annoying all the time.

Backtracking to get Anima was annoying, though. pinch.gif

Bevelle was uberirritating. Though, overall the puzzles were fun and a welcome break from the kill things+watch fmv=get loot formula of the usual run of things (post VII FF, that is).

I have mixed reactions on the puzzles. Bevelle was the most irritating, especially since

you have to break the walkway after you finally finish it off if you want the prize item
but the puzzle at Zanarkand was a lot of fun.

Edit
I meant Macalania, the icy temple. Thanks for refreshing my memory, Neal. Bevelle wasn't too bad, now that I remember which temple I'm talking about.

The puzzles weren't too bad, they gave a break from battleing, something they forgot to do in final fantasy VIII. not wanting to repeat the same mistake they obviously made some pure puzzle parts of the game. None of them are all too difficult to solve, the puzzles give a break from battling, and they're short.

The one puzzle that did irritate me was Djose temple. all the bright lights gave me a headache. it was definitely annoying.

Triple Triad Card Game? I loved that game, really fun anytime I needed a break.

I found the puzzles alright, they weren't that bad but it just wasn't my cup of tea because of how frustrating the later ones got. Bevelle was the worst.

Hmm, I seem to remember you being forced to get the Destruction Sphere item to complete the Bevelle Temple so you wouldn't have to go back. That was always fortunate for me, because that was the only temple I really hated out of the six.

I loved the puzzles. The graphics kept them interesting even after the aggrevation factor had set in.

The Macalania temple was the worst. Some mistakes can cause you to have to restart the entire challenge. Also I stood on the symbol at the beginning of the walkway, after getting the secret treasure, and on the way out which meant I had to start all over again! Nightmare.

Overall the puzzles were dire. Tidus made that whole game terrible. The problem was, for me, knowing that at the end of the maze there would be a long, unnecessary wait (in which you had to try to leave before you could continue) followed by a cocky speech in his irritating voice.

Sorry guys. I'll turn my hearing aid up and put on my glasses.

I wasn't overly keen on the puzzles. But it stops your brain from going totally numb if you're one of these people that plays these games for hours at a time, so it's not all bad.

I've played games with more enjoyable puzzles though I must admit. The original Tomb Raider springs to mind.

I didn't really mind any of the puzzles except Zanarkand, where you have to do the floor Tetris matchup puzzle. Bevelle wasn't that hard for me, just really slow-moving. In fact, I always found the game to be a bit on the easy side with respect to the puzzle-solving...

I definately enjoyed the puzzles in FFX. Then again I liked blitzball too so maybe my tastes are just messed up.

I wouldn't say your tastes are mixed up. Blitzball was my favorite part of that game. Actually I find myself completing a good amount of the storyline just so I can pick up a certain blitzball player.

I didn't find the puzzles to be hard, just tedious and a little too frequent.

Not at all, man. I played Blitzball long after the game was beaten. I enjoyed the crap out of Blitzing.

I don't think FF is a real puzzle oriented game. They should leave the puzzles to other games. Blitzball, though, that's a different story. -CSM
