So for the past couple of months I keep hearing about the new transformer movie coming out in July (also seen a couple trailers). The trailer looks kinda dark though (as in dark plots/storyline). So my question to you guys is, do you think Steven Spielberg can do the cartoon justice?

I'm excited for the movie no matter what.

With the way Marvel's been butchered (yet, still entertaining) compared to the original comics, I would not be one bit surprised if the storyline is way out of whack as opposed to the original comics/cartoons save for the good/bad guys, but I'm lookin' forward to it all the same. The graphics look cool as does some of the camera shots, plus I'm a Transformers fan and former figure-collector. I hope Starscream's in it!

The trailers I've seen definitely have me interested, despite the fact that they gave Optimus Prime a frigging flame paint job. I think the storyline will be a bit off from the cartoon, but it looks like it will be entertaining nonetheless.

Spielberg is merely an executive producer to the movie. If he were in fact directing instead of Michael Bay, I'd feel more comfortable about the project in general.

I'll probably go see it anyway.

I find your lack of faith disturbing...

I'm going to see it because of loyalty, a thank you for those years of entertainment in those cool saturday mornings, man, saturday morning cartoons are not the way they used to be. The movie LOOKS fine, I guess will have to see what Michael Bay has done with the story, I hope nothing will be changed drastictly. So far is what you might expect, humans been crushed by gigantic robotic warriors that can be anything from a mustang to the latest military helicopter.
