Ok, this is similar to the song game. Same rules but the difference is it is for game music lyrics. Use songs that you have found in games and you must atleast give the game but you can also give the name and the artist if there is an artist.

I'll start with an easy one:

Quote
Hold me
Whatever lies beyond this morning
Is a little later on
Regardless of warnings the future doesn't scare me at all
Nothing's like before

Should be simple enough.

Just a comment about the idea of the topic itself: I like the idea personally, but would it actually work? How many video game music songs are there that actually have lyrics? I can only think of six off the top of my head (RmX4, CvSotN, MGS, KH, FFVIII, FFVII, seven if you count MMPR (SNES)), so I just have doubts about whether the topic would work.

Now, if only there were a way to get people to name the game and context based on just the music...hmm...maybe we could post links to individual game music tracks? (Although I'm not sure how CoN staff would react given the potential copyright issue, unfortunately.)

If all else fails, you could find a way to link to a midi...

Yeah, a similar game that I saw like that used midi samples that people guessed the name of the song and the game to.

If it's ok to do midis, I'll download and rename some that I can find.

Midi is a bad decision if you are going to post a song based off a Super Nintendo game. Spc is the way to go. www.snesmusic.org

midi is a bad decision if you're going to post a song of any format other than midi. But what's convenient about them is that most video game tracks are simple and layered enough for a midi remix to be easy to make, while pretty much all media players can handle midi format. You can also find midi remixes of video game tunes all over the internet, while it's sometimes a wit of a bitch to play .spc files without installing plugins or downloading an spc player.

that's right, and if this were like a trivia game, it would be your turn to post a midi for other's to guess. I'm not sure if we could work that to last long though, but I guess you should post some sort of game song.

It MIGHT help if the name of the game wasn't in the file.

This game is off to an auspicious start.

yeah, that's why I made a geocities account. If you notice, the file name same What's that song, instead of mario64blahblah. It's a cool idea, but I doubt this will really work.

I could easily come up with a lot more, but it won't have the setup of a real CoN trivia game like the ill-fated FFVI trivia if I'm the only one that has midis.

so... um... everyone got caught up with how to make it work and forgot to comment on the original quote.

I'm about 90% sure it's from Kingdom Hearts 1, but I'm at work, and too lazy to check any other references, so am I right?
