So I got FF5 Advance for Christmas. I was really excited about the present, but in the back of my mind I was wondering if it would be like the other FF Advance titles. What I mean is a lot easier and a lot faster-moving than the original/PS versions.
For example - to those of you that played Dawn of Souls - did you all notice that you were on your way to the Swamp Cave after an hour of playing? Did you notice that the FF Origins version of FF2 was twice as hard as the DoS version? I guess my question is - have you all noticed that the GBA versions of FF titles are easier than other versions and take a lot less time to complete, even with the extra dungeons? I ask because FF6 is my favorite, and I want improvements, not just extra features. -------------------- You don't scare me, you talking blobs of oozing slop! I am impervious to pain! |

Out of all the FF remakes for the GBA (Dawn of Souls, IV Advance, V Advance, and VI Advance), I think FF5a came out better than them all and most people would agree, and I've only played FF6a in the jap rom up to Thamasa, and to be quite honest it was nicely ported but didn't play as smooth as FFVa did. I also have played DoS and realized they increased Gil drops and EXP gains in battles, aswell as being able to save anywhere.
I wouldn't say they all were easier than before since I havent got to the bonus dungeons of FF1a, FF2a, and FF6a yet. As for the FF5a bonus dungeon, that one was actually quite hard and annoyed me to death with random battles. Nothing has been butchered in that game (except for the distasteful GBA quality music and the overtoned bright graphics which in other words werent as good as the SNES original). FF5a's difficulty and speed are the same as of the SNES original. So you can have high hopes for FFVIa when it comes out. The battlesystem and gameplay has not been degraded. |

I think if they are any easier, it's not because they were programed deliberately that way, but because slight flaws in the programs from before were fixed.
On a side note, FFIII on the DS apparently isn't easy at all. =P -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

I've messed around with the final fantasy's on the GBA (well my roommates GBA) and noticed that they are pretty easy to complete. I myself haven't actually finished a final fantasy title on the GBA. I have played enough of final fantasy on emulation and on the gameboy to notice a difference.
I can see Mu's point, that is a definite possibility, not to mention the upgrade in technology that allows them to run at much faster speeds. -------------------- Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward.
