What is everyone's favorite summon, esper, GF, etc. from the FF series? For me, I would have to say the Brothers GF from FFVIII. The whole paper-rock-scissor thing is always good for a chuckle. A close second would be Anima from FFX.

I'd say Bahamut from IV, because IV's Summons are the only ones with a personal story, and Bahamut is ultimate. Besides, the PSX ones did a horrible job remembering he was the king of Dragons/Summons by definition. If he's the king, then shouldn't he be the best?

pfft why are you so critical of everything? The King needs strong lackeys. and whos to say that something didn't happen during the time lines of ff4 and ff7 that made him not so great, or made a better version of him? perhaps there were materia splicings. Anyways the magus sisters in FFX OWNED if you got lucky (And had them strong enough) Then the bee girls (Cindy?) would hit for 99999 each shot! -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! I loved every version of Shiva, but my favorite one was of Shiva in FFX. You get to do a lot more with her, and she looks a whole lot cooler too.

The first time I saw it, KOR was awesome. I also like Neo Bahamut, ZERO was more like "meh" to me. The clouds action was cool. Hades gets honorable mention from FF7.
Eden was cool, even though I don't know what it was. Just a big roboty thing that you'd think would be a garden. Alexander prolly would've been cool in FF9 if it didnt just die or whatever. And why was Alexander so good all of a sudden anyways? The holy Saint Alexander, fully equipped with missiles filled with holy water, all built into a robot for who knows why. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

I've always loved all forms of Alexandr, particularly the FMV-ized one in Anthology. That one is just dang cool.

Well I guess I would also have to say Bahumant from FF4. And I would to say that the only useful summon from FF6 was Carbunkl (why waste relic slots when you can just do a summon)

When I played the game, I was wondering about that too, but then it hit me. When Alexander died, that left the gap open for a Holy based Summon, which is filled by Madeen (the most powerful Summon in the game) I mean, if you look at FFIX, a Holy based Summon would be appropriate as the most powerful one. Here's another thing I thought of. Of all the Summons, which would be the most appropriate to protect the castle. No other Summon is as big as Alexander, so he would be the perfect choice. -------------------- "The Master of Past, Present, and Future has returned." |

Anima from FFX is my favorite. He's a chained up ownage machine who killed the last boss for me, and also the only one I ever got to do more than 9999 damage, I think.

Anima from FFX is definatly one of my favorite.
Dunno though... Odin has always been very cool IMO Oh, and Knights of the Round (I think that was what it was called...) from FF7. -------------------- "And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped” -Sir Bedevere the Wise |

Perhaps they chose to summon Alexander because the castle being protected is ALEXANDRIA!!!  ![]()     Personally, I like Valefor.  The newest sommon is often always the coolest!     Eddy  ![]() -------------------- "How can there be any meaning in the memory of such a being. Valefor was a cool new summon in FFX. Anima was definitely the coolest looking in that game.
Bahamut, particularly in FF8, was really amazing. Golem and Carbuncle were very useful in FF5. Knights of the Round was ok, but I only used it once because it took so damn long. My favorite has to be Alexander. He's a big robot castle thing. EDIT: Oh, and for favorite animation? Tonberry, FF8. OOH BOY!
Some things: I love Alexander, he's the biggest summon I ever saw! He's not that cool in FF6 but he'll do. In FF9 he RULES! Bahamut is cool, too. I mean, he always rocks, more or less, and in FF9 the scene Bahamut vs. Alexander... wooh... Personal fave's, since 1st appearance, to "the grave": Maduin (duh!), he gets cooler and cooler... ![]() And Ifrit. Personally, I just like fire. And he looks freaking cool! -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. The greatest summon ever has to be Arc from FF IX.
Now is it just me or does anyone else think this is a reincarnated version of Alexander. For those who don't know you get it when you give Hades 2 Pumice Pieces.
Arc is the most powerful summon, but he is holy elemental. -------------------- "Son of a submariner" Â Â Â Â Â -Kefka |

Wouldn't it be more sensible to name the castle after the Summon. I don't think Square named teh castle and then went, "Oh! Alexander shares the same name, so he should be the guardian!" I think they chose Alexander and then named the castle.
Ark is Dark elemental-based, and, technically, neither Ark nor Madeen are the most powerful since they deal the same amount of damage (9999). -------------------- "The Master of Past, Present, and Future has returned." |

Just go and replay Oeilvert and see who the last boss there is. I don't know why, but that's how it is, I didn't make the game.
Further comments on where Ark is/isn't should be made in a new thread or PM. Let the favourite discussions continue. |

Ah, screw Hades. Two pumice pieces and 50000 gil...Bah! Just go whack the super bouncy ball. That'll get you an Ark summon. I like to keep my pumice pieces around.
Back on topic: Bahamut all the way. From the oldest to the newest, he's been a summon of incredible power. I was really impressed when I saw Bahamut in FF VII : to me, this is what Bahamut should look like, at least at that moment. Neo Bahamut was really cool, but I didn't really like Bahamut Zero (sure he can aim at a toad from space, but...). Bahamut from FF IX was power at its full extent, and an important part of the plot; it's a close call, but FF VII's Bahamut gets my vote.
Other than the Bahamut summons, I really like Anima in FF X : it's nice to have a big bad summon on your side instead of only seeing it in the villains' hands... |

Any Bahamut, all of them are the best (in my opinion at least) in their own games.
