Im going to create a guild soon and would like some suggestions. This is for a mmorpg. I am sorta hoping for names associated with any of the Final Fantasy series ( FF 7 - 9 please) eg. Ancients (from ff7) and ShinraInc (ff7 again) but these names were already taken.

Please if you could suggest some names, it would be appreciated. (names such as Infinity and Celestial also appeal to me , so if you can think of names such as those please post)

Thanxx,

Might be good if you, y'know, tell us what MMORPG it's for, so we have a better idea as to how to suit your needs.

I suggest "Valentine" since you want lame FF7 junk.

Oooh, I like that one. Maybe I'll use it somewhere, someday.

How about...

"GUARDIAN FORCES"
or
"SeeD"

Something witty like that.

Is this a WoW guild, ST: Galaxies, or what?

Like ZH said, could you elaborate more about this "MMORPG" you are working on. I don't know what names would be suitable. Final Heaven is probably the best out of the list.

Well, I'll actually weigh in on this, as opposed to just giving you a joke name that could actually be used as a real name, however hilarious.

Personally,
+ I don't like names that have multiple words bunched together without spaces, unless you're not allowed to use spaces.
+ I don't like names that are [letters][numbers]. They look very much like AOL screen names, which of course suggest AOLspeak, which does not present a pretty picture to me.
+ I generally avoid names that can be too strongly associated with something that already exists, real or fictional. Calling oneself "The Returners" after the FFVI political group kinda obligates your clan/guild/team/party/gang/band to live up to certain expectations, and I personally don't like to do that.
+ Since I'm not very creative, I end up thinking about fictional characters/groups/etc. while trying to come up with names. Where applicable, I might simply string together bits and pieces, or use synonyms (or similar--e.g., "Cyclone" instead of "Avalanche"), or invent new characters based on but different from existing ones.
+ I am biased in favor of names that don't sound as blatantly ripped from some other context, unless the name is used respectfully of the other context's usage. For example, a clan of good guys should not be named "The Shinra", and a clan of low-life bad thugs probably shouldn't be either, but a gang of white-collar criminals could be appropriately named The Shinra.
+ I dO nOt, EvEr, LiKe To SeE aNy WoRdS tYpEd LiKe ThIs.
+ I dislike unnecessary underscores, tildes, stars, "<3"s, "xox", etc. anywhere in internet names--screen names, community names, etc.. They make for trouble in vocal pronunciation as well as reflect a sense of nonseriousness. Well, okay, since when was the internet a serious place. But I definitely find it more excusable to see "Clan Nutsy" (a sucky enough name) than "Clan ~*~thelovely~*~".
+ I like to see proper capitalization unless there's good reason to do otherwise. ("eLawnmowers" could be a hilarious but properly capitalized name.)

From your list, I like Tantalus and Final Heaven the most, but Tantalus carries with it negative connotations from (Greek?) mythology. Given your choices, I'd pick Tantalus, though, because it looks best and it sounds interesting.

What about Seventh Heaven, Tifa's bar? How about "Seventh Heaven Bar Association" (sounds like a lawyer's association!), if you're looking for humor. Or just Seventh Heaven. Another possibility is "Mognet Postal Service", or just "Mognet". For those who don't know who Mog is, it even sounds like Magnet. Or you could throw a pun at people and use "Magnet Stiltzkin". (Or something like that. I haven't played FFIX; I've only heard about bits and pieces of it.)

Back to FFVII, though. There are a vast number of possibilities even within this one game. "Canyon Warriors" and "Highwind" are serious-sounding possibilities; more humorous possibilities include "Golden Flying Saucers" and "Bigger Bronco". If your guild plans to be themed undead/monsters, you could call it "Vincent's Coffin" or something like that. Other names are possible for other themes. There are an absolute multitude of possibilities.

*I admit to being about to say "sounds like a lawyer's association, kupo!".

Heh, 'Clan Nutsy'. Was the reasoning for that clan name ever given? I always wondered
if it was some kind of in-joke. I can't say I remember one, but then I never played FFTA
for the storyline (that was what it's Playstation elder-brother was for!).
