Ok, for those of you who have played Square's awesome game, Final Fantasy VIII, I seem to be having a bit of trouble with the battle with Adel the Sorceress in Lunatic Pandora. Well, she's absorbed Rinoa, and sucks here energy and you can't let Rinoa die or else it's GameOver...
Current Strategy: Ok, well, as far as my team goes, I've got Squall, Quistis and Zell. Squall: HP/7000 give or take Quistis: HP/ 4700 give or take Zell: HP/ Around high 2000 Ok, so my strategy is, I'm pretty tight as far as offensive items go, and I can't really risk using too many Multiple Hit spells. After around 500 damage, Adel will zap energy from Rinoa, causing her to drop HP, and she usually drains about 700 HP. Rinoa has about 9000 HP to give, and I usually end up using Cerberus to cast Triple and Double, and then get Zell to cast Shell on everyone including Rinoa. Then start hitting him with high level spells such as Firaga, Blizzaga and Thundaga, and I have a few rounds of Meteor Stones and Flare Stones, which do around 700 - 1000 damage each. So, after about 3 attacks from my team, Adel casts some sort of attack that usually hurts one party member, but then she'll cast either Meteor or Flare. Then, she'll gather magic and cast Ultima, which does around 3000 damage, 1500 with Shell... My main problem here, is that I can't beat her! It takes me so fergin long to get her HP down, and Scan doesn't give an HP, so I'm totally blind as to how much HP she has. After about 10 minutes of fighting, and about 30 Mega-Potions and a bunch of Limit Breaks later, she totally annihilates one of my characters, and I don't heal then fast enough, and I'm dead. My question is, is there a specific set HP amount for this son of a b****??? And is there a better strategy??? -------------------- We, who cannot see into tomorrow, have no way of knowing... But... Well, it depends on your levels. Enemies' stats, magic, and items all vary depending on the levels of your characters.
Cast Regen on Rinoa, and heal her if she should take damage. You can Mug a Megalixir from her if I recall, but I wouldn't really risk it. Use only single-targetting attacks against Adel. Don't risk Renzokuken because Squall might hit Rinoa with one of his multi-targetting finishing moves. Use Duel with Zell, and more specifically Armageddon Fist (chaining Punch Rush and Booya) to maximize damage. Quistis can aid the team with Mighty Guard and act as a support character. Also, use Aura to get the Limit Break status, and cast Meltdown to reduce Adel's defense to 0 (a strategy which will serve you well for almost all of the bosses in the game). I would also recommend Junctioning something to Zell's HP to get him up with the rest of the party HP-wise. Regen, Curaga, and Full-Life are good spells to up your HP. -------------------- |

I'd say Adel has roughly 55,000 or more (if my calculation are right.) You can mug a Soul of Samantha (rare item) from Adel, and mug 8 megalixirs from Rinoa.
Here's my strategy: Do not use any GFs or all-attack spells in this battle. Use Protect and Shield magic to raise your defence against magic. Cast Aura on Squall. Let him unleash the Renzokuken. Do not trigger the special attack! Cure Rinoa if her HP is low (if she dies, you'll lose automatically). Draw Regen from her and use it on yourself. You can also use Triple and cast Flare three times (use GF Eden Expendx3-1 to reduce magic usage). Don't forget to mug Soul of Samantha from Adel (rare item). Quote Rinoa has about 9000 HP She has 6,245 HP. Well, good luck! I always use meltdown, it works really well to reduce Adel's vitality (physical defense), after the spell works like it should(Adel will go a shade of purple), then just attack with Limit breaks, preferably Squall's. Defensive magic is also vital to heal Rinoa and your team.

I usually summon Cerberus, cast Regen on Rinoa, Meltdown on Adel, and wail away with powerful single-hitting magics, double Aura and limits. I tried Renzokuken and Rinoa was clobbered so I wouldn't use that, but Zell's Armageddon Fist with souped-up strength and Meltdown on Adel works extraordinarily well for me as does Irvine's limit and Quistis' Mighty Guard and White Wind if you bring her along. Triple Shell and Protect for her one or two physical attacks never hurts, either.

Thanks guys, that whole Meltdown thing helped A LOT! I didn't know it even did anything, and it was a good thing I was stocked up on it.

I made sure to draw a ton of Auras from Seifer earlier in the Lunatic Pandora, and then have Irvine blast Adel with AP Ammo. The one time I played through FF8 I experienced no difficulty from her.

You should steal from Rinoa too, If I'm correct, you can get a Megalixir from her. Yeah, I too had problems with Adel when I first played the greates FF ever **wind blows**, I had to play through again, from the beggining.

For my first playthrough, I found her nigh impossible and the first time I've ever had to call the help hotline. With their assistance and a few tips and tricks of my own, I haven't had a problem against her since. The only problem I have is getting my PS2 to read disc 3.

Actually, I don't ever remember having any trouble with her, or any boss in the game for that matter. Although I'll be damned if I can remember my strategy. I, too, might have used Meltdown as well. I loved that spell once I figured out what it did
