Im wondering, coz ive seen a few people who say there characters do 9999 damage, an that there in the mid 90's on there character level up, im only on 25, and i am half way through the game, im wondering how people get that high without months on end of random encounters to do it.
so is there any hotspots or anythin in the game where it is faster or easier to level up? many thanks... |

You're going to have to be quite a bit more specific on where you are in the game... for your own sake really, since otherwise you'll hit things that seem so benign to us that we'd never consider them as spoilers.

Honestly, after beating this game several times, there is no point in leveling up past 50-60. The game is SO easy to beat in mid levels as it is IMO. Perfect saves are useless. I only did that like 8 years ago =o

Yeah...Dinosaur Forest (?). Not sure exactly what its called...but in the WoR, its located on the north part of the world. Its kindof near Narshe. (Its a forest, in like, the middle of nowhere.) I always used the floating continent as a leveling up tool. They gave around 5 or magic points for you to learn esper spells. My four people learned every esper there was. Then I would trade out people and do it again.
The forest north of the veldt is a good place. The dinosaurs are tought though |

IF you do fight in the forest of the dinosaurs, make sure one of your mages has Life 3 and Ultima. Brachosaurs will destroy you most of the time with their ultima spells and their disaster spell. They also use the Sneeze attack, which is very annoying. I think at least one character should be around level 50-60 with 6000 HP if you want to fight Brachosaurs.

Are you using an emulator, or an actual game console? Cause if you're using an emulator, I prefer to set it to turbo mode, which speeds up the game, run around, and fight on the Triangle Island on the World of Ruin, just keep attacking...

I'm using the game console but it seems like it's alot different on an emulator than playing it on ps1.

If you're behind on magic, just head to the Vedt. You don't gain experience, but you still gain the points for magic.

Well, it depends on whether you're looking for level gaining or magic. If it's leveling up you want, yeah, follow the Dinosaur Forest advice. if you're trying to get lots of spells, go into the deset near Maranda. There's only two enemies there, Hoover and Cactrot. Hoover gives exp and 5 magic points, while the Cactrot hands out 10 magic points. Hoovers are vulnerable to instant death, Cactrots don't fare well aginst barrier-piercing attacks. Throw the Atma Weapon and a Sniper Sight on a character, and slay, slay, slay. or use Shadow's throw and the like. Youll get x1 rate magics done in 20-15 fights, sometimes less if you're really lucky and encounter mostly Cactrots.
Hope this helps if you haven't gotten what you wanted already. This post has been edited by Malag N on 17th November 2006 03:03 -------------------- Giggidy giggidy giggidy! All riiight! :D FFVIA Progress Report: Game completed, Dragon's Den cleared. Second playthrough in progress. |

I think Dinosaur Forest is the best location to level up,Tyranosaur has 8800 EXP and Brachosaur has 14396. If you are so lucky, you can receive a Economizer from Brachosaur. Oh~~,Economizer, hehehehe.

It doesn't take too long to maximize levels in the Dinosaur Forest, provided you have one strong enough character with an Experience Egg.

Go to the desert south of Miranda to fight a cactus that gives you 10 magic points and dies in one hit. There's also a big worm there that will kick your ass, so equip Thunder Shields to absorb its attacks and cast Ice3 for instant 9999, he gives a ton of experience and 5 magic points.

mmm, there's actually a sort of cheat you can do. If you have a turbo controller, you can leave the game on and walk away and it will level up for you.
At the raft area, make sure your cursor is set to "Memory," or you might die slowly and painfully. Then go into battle and have it set so that everyone does "Fight" except Banon, who does "Health." SInce your cursor is on "Memory," it will remember these settings. Now... there's an infinite loop on the raft area where if you pick the default direction every time, you'll go in a circle forever. Make sure your controller is on turbo-fire and tape down the button (or put something heavy on it or something) and your characters will just repeat this infinite loop forever, fighting monsters, healing via Banon, and gaining experience. If you leave it like that for a loooooong time (probably a couple of days,) you can get to level 99. :) I've heard that it can be done during the diving helmet sequence as well, but I can't think of how you would heal your characters in that case. You'd just have to be lucky and gain high enough levels that even hours and hours of being damaged wasn't going to be enough to kill your characters. (Unless there's a no-MP, no-item, no-button-combo healing maneuver that I'm not thinking of.) As has been said earlier, though, it's really not necessary-- FFVI is an easy game. I like to keep a spare lvl99 save near the beginning of the game like that, though, because if I feel randomly like replaying it just to see the story again, it's faster to whip through it with lvl99 (and it's not like I play this game for the challenge anyway.) -------------------- - Sagiri - "It is difficult to find happiness within oneself, and impossible to find it anywhere else." :) |

While its suitable for leveling up, you'll be missing out on your esper bonuses. I usually like to play a low-level game until I get into the world of ruin, then I plan how I would like to level up my characters. -------------------- Oh sure, I don't have to get kicked in the junk to activate it, but I like it anyway. -- Thief commenting on the difference between Throw and Blue Magic. |

I find that to be more fun (and kind of addictive) than just levelling, because you need to keep an eye on things and switch the Espers around and stuff. It's more interesting than just plowing through random battles (which is the part I'd prefer to avoid...) -------------------- - Sagiri - "It is difficult to find happiness within oneself, and impossible to find it anywhere else." :) |

Dinosaur Forest is definitely the best place to level up. Just make sure you have one strong character, Life 3, and Cure. I always get Sabin's Bum Rush, if I am to that point, then I head to Dinosaur Forest. Your weak characters will easily catch up.

Here are some ways to get better in FFVIA since some bugs are fixed. This post has spoilers so don't read if you don't wanna spoil your fun.
The level up trick in the world of balance. Doesn't work anymore since blind works now. Also, Evade works, so some enemys later in the game that was easy might seem harder now. Vanish/death(doom) and Vanish/Banish(x-zone) are now gone. Plus the invisable monster in the WoR is now a pill too. you must ether drain his magic away or fight him till the death. He cannot be doomed or X-zone while vanished. But he's isn't to hard if you have a party of level 25 and above and have cure2. Dino Forest is still a go. For magic points.. the Cactuar are good, but i wouldn't suggest taking one person to the desert until you beat Jumbo Cactuar. Stratagy: Make sure you have a 4 party members with a total over 10000 hp anything lower than that..... you're going to see a Game Over Screen. Life 3 might help if the party members has 9001 hp. Trust me you need alot of hp when you beat that monster. after you get him, it pretty much safe to level magic in the desert. If you're going for a low level party and want good spells and money. The Velt will give you that. Monsters from all over the world form Both WoB and WoR gather there. Gives from no magic points to 10 magic points and from small amount of gil to tons of it. No exp. Also a point of intrest is, the Phantom Forest. for easy Magic Points. kill single ghost. if the ghost appears with anything else, like 3 ghost or a ghost and two spirit thingys you get 1 magic point instead of 3. Gold is good, exp sucks. but constantly getting 1 or 3 magic points. Also for the dino forest, I would suggest you get the pheonix esper to get life 3 or rearise. and cure 3 I'd also suggest getting best equipment too. offering and genji glove will give you 8x hits to the monsters and if that doesn't kill them, i suggest you could cast quick. to get 16x hits per turn. It might be important for you to get to level 99 before fighting Omega and Shinryu or Cesar. These guys are packed with tons of stuff. Also it's possible now to have infinate supply of Ragnarok swords and Atma weapons. So instead of wasting an esper to get a sword. steal it from the final battle, and then you can have both esper and sword without cheating. Hope this works for everyone when FFVIA comes out in 55 days. This post has been edited by Shinrin on 12th December 2006 16:44 -------------------- |

Yeah, I realize I have no idea how hard Ff3 would be if I played it without any support at all. Are there any points in the game that you just wouldn't get through without at least some guidance? And God knows how you'd get through things like the banquet, or acquire more than three or four lores.

Get through it? Sure, why not? That's what my friend and I did shortly after it came out. No strategy guides, no online forums, just one weekend with our wits and a lot of sugar and caffeine. Oh, the days of no responsibliites...
Find every little bonus, secret, and power up? Probably not. We never fought in dinosaur forest, and debated the merits of the Gem Box and Economizer for some time. I honestly don't remember what we decided on anymore. -------------------- "Getting upset over a trifle would indeed be unmannerly." -Afra to Damia |
