Horror stories...everybody has heard some in their time. Be it a story of a "ghost next door", or a "downtown vampire" - urban myths, stories thought up in the meantime, tales told from time to time to have some fun and a thrill.
You remember those, don't you? Which ones are your favourites? Or maybe you made some up yourselves? Do you like them? Do you believe in them? Well? -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Figuratively, of course." - Josh "We have more, can deliver tuesday." - Del S Good old CoN |

I've always liked ghost stories that (seemingly) sane people have claimed to be real, but I don't believe in any horror stories I have heard.
My favorite horror stories involve evil clowns, though! -------------------- "Thought I was dead, eh? Not until I fulfill my dream!" Seifer Almasy "The most important part of the story is the ending." Secret Window "Peace is but a shadow of death." Kuja |

I've had my share of the supernatural, but i'm not going to share any of it.

After watching Jurassic Park, I thought there was a velociraptor waiting to attack me in my bathroom when it was dark.
Yeah, while I was peeing. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

Not that I really believe in it but the horror story that has affected me the most is the one where the lady is driving down the road and the guy behind her keeps flashing his lights and she thinks it's some lunatric behind her when really it's some guy in her backseat getting ready to stab her. To this day after hearing it, I always check the backseat of my car after I've gotten in when it's dark to make sure that no one was there. Not that I could do anything if there really was someone there, he'd just kill me then instead of while I was driving.

I don't believe them, but, to this day, if I close my eyes and picture that little girl in "The Ring" climbing out of the television...
Shudder. I can keep myself up at night with that. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

It's ridiculous now but when I was little, the whole Bloody Mary thing was popular with people in my area and for a while, I was too scared to try it. Now, I had some sadistic family members, so when I actually mustered the courage to say the name three times with a candle in the dark, in front of a bathroom mirror, my cousins took it upon themselves to scare the life out of me. That night, while sleeping over at said cousin's place, they scratched my chest with a thumb tack all over, and when I woke up, I thought it was really Mary marking me for death. Needless to say, I tried sleeping in my parents bed every night for a month after that.
I normally don't believe in these things anymore, but I do love hearing a good story about them regardless. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Quote After watching Jurassic Park, I thought there was a velociraptor waiting to attack me in my bathroom when it was dark. Holy Crap, that same thing happened to my brother. Bugged the crap out of me. no matter where he was he couldn't be alone. At first I had believed he was faking it so that he could get the top bunk. But a week later I realized that wasn't true. Personally Chucky doll got me for about a good month. Not from seeing him on TV in previews or anthing. But one day walking out of a pizza parlor a kid riding a skateboard almost mowed me down, he stopped just in time, but It scared the living daylights out of me, and what was on the bottom of his board, Chucky. It wasn't until a couple weeks later that I realized I couldn't possibly be harmed by chucky, since he didn't have movable hands, which were both two small to hold a weapon, and he can't bend his elbows or knees, etc. after haveing dreams of him chasing me around, I stareted to have dreams of kicking him around and lighting him on fire with WD40. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

For me it was a TV special about UFO's. What scared me the most was their explanation of people's abduction stories--sleep apnea. That night I had trouble going to sleep for fear of having sleep apnea.
That and reading "And Then There Were None" late at night. -------------------- Status: FF6 -- Finished! Yeah! FF7 -- Finished (easily, and without KOtR) FF8 -- End of Disc 3 Secret of Evermore--Leveling up for Salabog "Go sit over there. Put your seatbelt on."--Squall |

Ghost stories and such don't really affect me (except some of the outlandish ones make me laugh) because I don't think I believe in ghosts. However, stories with a more realistic vibe (like the one Elena1999 mentioned) can really freak me out.

I believe in ghosts. More than that, call me insane, but I'm pretty damn sure I've been in contact with a few.
Strangely, ghosts don't cause any fear to me anymore. When I was a kid I was freakin' terrified of them. Now I just think "meh, if they're there they're there. They aren't exactly going to eat me or anything." Ghost stories, though? I've always been at least slightly fascinated in the supernatural, so the fact that I read ghost stories goes without saying. As before, when I was a kid I'd read them then scare myself sleepless for about a week. Nowadays the odd story (if it's claimed to be real) can give me a few chills, but it isn't nearly as bad as before. Now, spiders, on the other hand. Christ. I'd rather be face to face with a psychopathic poltergeist than a spider. I freak out just seeing pictures of them. Which reminds me, I need to go tape some of the pages of my biology textbook together. |

I find real life to be scary enough. Just thinking about the thousands of children dieing every day in Africa is startling. Death is pretty horrendous by itself.
Poverty, AIDs, and War are way scarier than Ghosts, God, or Aliens. I always did like that story that ends with "humans lick too" though, where there was a dog skinned in the shower... On a side note when I was a little kid I told my younger cousins that Santa Claus was an evil Warlock who was frozen in Ice all year round on the moon and during Winter he came out and killed kids. I thought that was a pretty sweet scary story. This post has been edited by JesusBomb on 12th December 2006 15:45 |

There's a house about 15 miles from the town i live in thats a Minnesota version of thew Amittyville Horror. The dad went nuts and killed his wife, three daughters, and then himself. Ive never personally seen anything out there, but Ive got friends that have seen a green mist/fog where there wasnt any fog anywhere else to be seen. Ive only been out there during the day but I get weird vibes just standing by the road. If anyone wants to research it fully its known as Capaletti (i think its spelled) House.
