Alright first off, do Leo, the Ghost, Banon, Vicks, and Wedge have Death Blow/Limit Breaks ?
Has anyone like tried to see if it works? Also.. why does Leo have a sprite where he casts magic? Did Amano not know the plot before he sprited him, or was there a possibility that at one point they were intending to make Leo a playable character? Last thing I'm wondering... If you look at Sigfrieds sprite when he's facing left and right, is he wearing a mask? Or is that circle thing his mouth and that little dot at the top his eye? It looks like that thing comes up on an angle could be a visor for his eyes (which would make him look cool) but if it's his mouth then he just looks ridiculous. |

Quote (JesusBomb) Did Amano not know the plot before he sprited him, or was there a possibility that at one point they were intending to make Leo a playable character? Did Amano do the sprite design work at all? I know Amano contributed the concept art, but somehow I doubt (without knowing for sure) that he also did the spriting. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Quote Alright first off, do Leo, the Ghost, Banon, Vicks, and Wedge have Death Blow/Limit Breaks ? I am downright sure that they do not, since they are temporary characters. However I don't have any concrete evidence, maybe Caesar, Djibiral, Runelancer, or Master Zed can give some concrete evidence supporting or refuting my claim. Edit Quote as they were choreographing the fight with kefka and Leo square may have thought of having him use magic, or maybe there is the possibility you would have had him in your party at thamasa, but that idea was cut out. There are many probable reasons. but unless somebody knows someone who was involved in FFVI then we won't ever know the real reason.why does Leo have a sprite where he casts magic? Alrighty thanks guys. I'm not sure about Amano spriting everybody, I just knew that he was the lead character design so I guess I assumed it a little too quickly.
Anybody know if Sigfrieds wearing a mask or if that's his a really odd looking face that he has? |

Amano's an artist who on occassion works for Square-Enix. He's no sprite developer, and his concept art sketches aren't definite either; just take a look at how Sabin has a beard and Galuf doesn't in his concept art.
Only the fourteen permanent characters minus Gau have Desperation Attacks, the others do not. On the sprites: for every temporary character, as well as the Imp and Esper Terra, almost complete sets of sprites exist. The ghost, Banon, Merchant Locke, Imperial Soldier Locke, Leo; they all have the same possible expresions as your permanent characters. It's just that you can't acces them in the game. I suppose creating sprites really isn't that much work when you know the design/palettes, so they probably created them before coding the out-battle events in the game. Siegfried's mask is a matter of interpretation. We're still not sure on his gun either ![]() -------------------- |

I'm going to comment on the spirte-designs having other animations then what you can access in the game: If you were to alter the game, and potentially make Vicks, Wedge, the ghost, Baron, etc. cast spells, or get to a point in the game where they were supposed to do a certain action, and they weren't able to, I'd imagine this to potentially have negative effects on the game (perhaps crashing?).
Or maybe they made the sprites in advance of the scripting, so they had the ability to move the characters as they wanted to without having to go "wait, we have to go back and make a different sprite animation". Just my thoughts. On a side note, Gogo's face always confused me as a little kid. I could never figure out where his eyes were. -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. On various sprite pages, all FFVI characters were given the same animations (casting, angry, suprised, etc.) in order to prevent having to delay progress in the event they wanted a sprite to do something, but couldn't because they had to make the animation. One of those being prepared things.
