well, my character rangeds from level 32 to 36, its not that hard, especially not if you have 3 pretty strong characters to carry the rest of the parties through the tower, besides that, you can just vanish / x-zone the bosses there if your party is too weak, thought that is a little cheap.

40 is the max you will want to begin the tower. I only go to the tower in my early levels just to kill the last 2 dragons so I can get Crusader.

When most of my characters are level 90-99, I make sure I have the perfect of everything, THEN I go into the tower.

The best place to level up is the dinosaur forest right next to the veldt, you should see Gau's fathers house near by it, and the forest looks like a dragon head on the map. Start your characters from level 50-60 when you begin to fight in the forest, Brachosaurs can be tough if you do not have the right equipment. I wouldnt recommend beating the game that quick at those levels, it is kinda cheap.

Explore around a bit, you will find so many good things to use. People do not realize some espers have bonus's that get added to your character each time they level up. Use these to your advantage. If you think your at a peak, try leveling up Shadow or Cyan with Odin (+2 speed) 50 times, and watch the amazing speed. Or even leveling up +2 stre about 50 times with a char. My personal favorite is the +2 Mag pwr. Your mages will be godly at level 99.

but to what use? Kefka is easy as hell anyways, the only reason i could see for levelling to 99 is for beating that kether thing, or perhaps some new boss in the advance version, or perhaps if you like having a perfect save smile.gif

Kether is a hacked monster that doesn't exist in the normal game. You'll have to patch the IPS file to the standard ROM if you want to fight him

Your actually kind of...overleveled. But if you feel like you really want to be higher, go at Doma Castle or Dinosaur Forest.

Yes, those levels are far more than adequate enough to clear the game. If you are losing, then it's probably just your equipment/spells that aren't adequate enough, because those levels are very high.

Can you use the same ips patch used for translating FF5 on FF6 to face the kether monster?

No not really, but if you desire to, find the EXP egg and head to the dinosaur head shaped forest.

It actually makes the game less fun in the sense that it removes strategy. And you are trifled with the monotony of repetitive battles.

Basically what i was planning to say, but I wouldn't have used the words "adequate enough". When I was young and playing FFVI for the first timer I believed everything was solved by power-leveling, But as the years as have passed I learned that there were many items I overlooked and had for a long time. Strategies developed as I no longer would waste my time mass-leveling, and I found the game experience much more entertaining. so you probably do have the "right stuff" to win the battles, you may just not realize it.

You can do it either way, the game is still fun. I've beaten the game under level 50 too, but after you've done it that way, theres nothing wrong with going for a perfect save a couple of quests. Also, having power levels actually helps you realize that, for example: Cyan, people think he is poor in battle because of his low level of stats when all of your chars are level 40 at the end. At his level 40ish, he is not that strong, yet, he could be the stongest character in the game if you choose to. Same thing with Gau and his rages..

Getting to the max peak a few times (in any game) in life reveals the biggest secrets IMO.

I mean, look at FF2 (FF4). What level does Rydia need to be to learn Meteo? (Oh god this was so long ago) ("The secret spell") 70? 75? 80? (im sure its close) and when you rush through FF4 being in your level 40's and 50's, she isnt nearly as powerful as she is supposed to be. But, that game DOES take a shitload of time to get at high levels. happy.gif

My Advice for overlevelling on FF6 , during the world of ruin, would be solo training at the Dinosaur Forest

Just simply take your need raising caracter, make sure thay can actually survive sleep.gif have them able to cast ice magic (preferably ice 3) , and definitely at all times, have an exp egg equipped (obtainable from Daryls tomb after doing a little run about or alternatively from the colliseum) having 2 of these is just greedy cool.gif (yes, i'm a greedy one)

( a very simple way to beat these tyrannos alto with 4 party members, give everyone a reflect ring, and cast ice 3 of yourslves, thats , 1 ice 3 due to the reflects = 4 times per every one you use, a total of16 ice 3's on 1 or 2 tyrannos? buh bai dino butt laugh.gif

but, if you feel you can't yet solo a fight against 2 tyranno's

then you could always train up around the area of Narshe with 1 character, make sure they have a minimum of fire 2, and fight the mantis lookalikes, (with the exp. eggs rolleyes.gif) and levels will soon be yours

although its a little sidetracking, you can also level a bit when fighting with Cactrots, aside from gaining all that wonderful Gil and magic points for your darling ultima spell, you will occasionally encounter a zone eater lookalike, merely cast x-zone on it, if with a solo character thats around 7,500 exp, with a couple of exp. eggs, over 20k exp in a flash

^^; was i the only one on here who actually had trouble with kefka*has a flash back* way back when my sister and i knew a guy who had codes for the game that made you pratically invincible. We used the game genie to get all the spells right away and all our charecters to level 99 right away, and i'd have to say beating kefka was hard for me ^^; oh well that was then this is now. I cant say i've been able to pull off a low level game as of yet, though i havent had much time to try either.

50s - 60s is okay to actually go in and beat the tower. More important than the levels is how everyone is equipped, if they have all of their skills (Sabin, Cyan) and what magic they have.

I beat the game with my characters levels 45-51.

It all depends on how much challenge you want to have. You can overlevel your characters and play it safe, or you can mess with those low-level game challenges, where people are able to beat the game at around level 20-something or lower, I think (I don't remember exactly, because I never researched it).

I just beat the game with with Terra on level 40 and most in the mid-high 30's, without Ultima. If you can get through the tower, then you can beat the last boss no problem.

I tend to collect everything, then overlevel. I had a bad habit of completely maxing out my SNES FF games.

The save on my copy of FFII has over 200 hours on it.
