Well lets see.

Relm: mostly becouse sketch isn't very powerfu and prefer to use the characters skill rather than magic.
Gau: not being able to heal himself when in a good rage

So pretty much only the kids on this one.

Personally i can't stand Umaro because his attack power despite being in auto beserk isn't as good as it should be.

Gau is good if you can get the Stray Cat move Catscratch.

Relm is rubbish plain and simple.

Cyan's sword technique wouldn't be so bad if you could switch charactors while its building up and then switch back and use it.

Who I do not use eh....well, here we go!

Terra: I'm forced to use her so long that by the time I have a choice, she is not it.
Locke: Same as above, though steal is nice later on in the game.
Strago: His lore's are good at first, but after the higher tier magics kick in, he can be replaced easily by Gau and Celes
Edgar: I can't stand him...he is a useful character, that much is true, and closest thing to a Draggon/Lancer in the game with the Dragoon Boots and his natural inclination for spears, but...he is annoying! His mere presence makes me want to vomit sometimes.

I actually use Umaro and Mog all the time, their my core party with either a Celes Gau combo or a Gogo/Cyan/Sabin thing. Sometimes I just use Mog and Umaro...then I make Mog dance..two berserked characters against a Storm Dragon..whoo boy.

Mine would easily be...

Relm (can't stand that little brat)
Strago (his Lores are only good if you have them all)
Gau (never trust someone you can't control)
Cyan (I hate waiting for his Swordtechs to load)

WEAK?!? What have you been smokin'? Have you ever nailed a critter with Cleave? That's a one-hit kill, dude! Plus, the Stunner technique can do some major damage AND cause Stop! You definitely can't call SwdTech weak, now, can you?

Yes, but other characters can do so much more damage by comparison that Sword Techniques are weaker. sad.gif

I still like Quadra-Slice though.

Compare it to most of the other skillsets in the game and it's terrible. I'm sure it edges out 'Sketch', 'Runic' and possibly 'Dance'...

But that's about it.

Cyan's swordtech's aren't necessarily weak, but the wait makes the skill not worth your time, i tried to use cyan and had him with autohaste, athen i would have everyone execute there moves adn then start the skill, by the time you could get quadra slice, two other characters could have had another turn. It has been suggested before that tehy should have made the gamer wait after they selected the move, therefore not having to wait on Cyan to execute moves.

Other than Cyans SwdTech being slow..

Cyan is probrably the strongest character of BatPwr in the entire game (besides umaro). Think about it, you say he is "slow"? well maybe thats because you never leveled him up 30+ times with odin? tongue.gif He does not seem slow to me, because his speed on my quest is fairly high. His SwdTech is a pain in the ass for a wait, yes, but it sure as hell is worth it if you build the guy right. I would say he is in the top 5 easy.

I would say Cyan is probrably stronger than Edgar,Sabin, and Shadow as BatPwr wise. I mean hell, the guy lost his family(such a sad scene that was), wouldnt you think he is like some fanatic of strength when needed? tongue.gif A buddy of mine had Cyan lv 99 doing like 9999 Damage on his quadraslice. He is a VERY underrated character.

Relm - Probrably has the best magic power next to Terra. I never liked to use her much either, but I was thinking about it this time because people were telling me years ago Relm was quite interesting when leveled pretty high for magic wise.

Gau - His rages can deal massive damage... real massive if you ask me. Some of his rages I havent even seen yet because it is so hard to find them all. From Rages, he can do physical attacks, powerful magic attacks, lore attacks, earth attacks, heal attacks, and specialties. He gets boring though, I hardly use him each time I play (simply because I'm too lazy to go get all of his rages).

I honestly would say that Gau and Umaro are the least usable characters in the game. But seriously, theres like 10 rages Gau can get that are like.. super super powerful.

Those of you who do not use relm you are missing out on some very powerful magic.

Characters of non-choice for me would be...

Cyan - Swrdtech is like watching glue dry only to find out you need to reapply it to make sure it sticks. Cyan's strat is basically spamming Dispatch. I'll pass.

Gogo - He uses rods and has weak physical damage. His mimic skill is good, but requires you to pay attention to who attacks what and where, not something I care to do. Other then that, he's fine I guess, but... I'll pass.

Relm - Learn2fight. Her normal move is a 25% hit rate for the enemy to use a weak attack and not to mention glitch the game. Her 'upgraded' form is a channeled ability that was completely unfinished by Square. She's not good for anything but magic, so I leave her as a dedicated healer. I'll pass.

Mog - Originally I was going to say Terra, but I came back and changed it because I realized Mog is basically crap after WoB. His dances are a pathetic form of Umaro's beserk. Most because instead of doing damage he'll do something stupid like heal your party or try to throw an instant death move on something that's immune. Sorry Mog, I like you, but, I'm passing.

On a side note, I will use Umaro on occassion because he's actually very good. He hits the damage cap fairly early, but he just 'seems' ineffective at later levels because once Edgar can hit 9999 with autocrossbow, you're going to be looking for different qualities in a character. Maybe if people didn't overlevel...
Setzer's slots are amazing, LLG's made me realize that.
And Terra would've been #5.

"Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm
"..." - Shadow
"I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes

Personally, I usually don't use Umaro, as I like having control of my characters. I also don't have much use for Gogo, and Gau, even though I am just recently discovering Gau's strengths.

Some of you are really underrating Mog. Sure he's not the best Magic User, but his dances come in extremely handy in the WOB, and later in the game, if you equip him with the Merit Award, Ribbon, Illumina, Paladin Shield, and the Snow Muffler, he's basically indestructible to any standard enemy or boss. You just can't hurt him.

Merit Award. He still won't be a top-tier fighter, but the Scimitar triggers instant death for Gogo just as well as it does for anyone else, plus it gives him(?) a few more armor options. Combine it with Running Shoes or Marvel Shoes, and he's not too terrible. Still one of the last four I'd pick, as anyone else can do this too, but hey.
