Does Terra need to marry anyone?

I know it's tempting to want to pair everyone together in video games, but not everyone needs to be paired. I think she's better off on her own.

For the record, however, when I was 15 and first played this game, I thought she'd do well with Sabin. tongue.gif

I agree with this, but, more importantly, I think that everyone you'd suggest is better off without Terra. She's whiny, clingy, indecisive, and self-centered. That's only girlfriend material if she's really hot, and marriage material if she gets knocked up.

Exactly.
But it is sometimes fun to pair others. I think square made a good decision with not pairing ANYONE in VI. Except for Locke and Celes.

I think Terra would just go back to Mobliz and live with the children, as that's where she seems happy. -CSM

I beleive she doesn't need to be paired up. She's free, of her own will, and I don't think, after her being abuse and not being able to control herself when she was with the Empire, that she would want a man to control her anyway.

I believe Celes and Locke was a good match up for VI, and no one else.

I don't know. I thought somehow she and Edgar would do fairly well. After all, early on she did show at least a slight interest in him. Besides, I gotta say that, or else my best buddy would be pissed. He's always been an Edgar fan (he and I always name Edgar after him) and Terra's always been his main girl. I'm saying they'd go well from a gamer's standpoint and a friend's. thumbup.gif

This is exactly why I leave her to rot in Mobliz
I am pretty sure terra doesn't meet anyone, she found love caring for parentless children.

Ouch. So much Terra bashing sad.gif

Anyways, I think she'd do best on her own. I can't see anyone that she would watn to hook up with, as I think she's happy enough with the children, (but they will have to grow up...)

IF she has to be with someone, I think it would be either of the Figaro twins, as she seems to have a nice friendly relationship with them both.

Setzer? How do you figure that? I always thought that between Setzer being a free-spirit, and Daryl, he would stay alone with maybe's some flings here and their. Unless that Opera singer that looks like Celes that you never see decides that no one wants to listen to her sing in a destroyed world. But I can't see anything between Terra and Setzer now or in the future.

Everyone knows that the clear answer to this question is Mog. Terra would marry Mog and they would have hideously adorable Moogsper babies.

I base this conclusion on absolutely nothing, save the ramblings of a homeless man I once met.

Actually, I overheard that homeless man rambling and I recall him saying Umaro, not Mog.

Wow...... just because he saved her? alot of people save eachother and they don't fall in love. and yes, i agree with the other 2. i think the only person that is right for her would be Edgar. and Terra with mog/ or umaru is just wrong..... thumbup.gif

I like her best by herself.

Though if we're talking HAVE TO CHOOSE POSSIBILITES WITH KNOWN GAME CHARACTERS, I think there was mutual something going on with Leo. I also used to be (~10 years ago) a big fan of her with Edgar, but I've come around to thinking that such a relationship would be pretty disastrous, at least the way American Edgar is portrayed (kind of shallow and playa-ish). I see almost no argument for Sabin besides them being admittedly cute together (they hardly say two words to each other). Locke is an older-brother figure and besides, I think it's a pretty darn silly idea when he and Celes are obviously romantically paired (no flames plz). Setzer is stuck on Daryl, and if he likes anyone it's Celes. Shadow is quite old, Cyan and Strago likewise, and besides which they are boring with her. Gau, too young. Celes, see Locke; also I don't think T's sapphic. Relm, see Gau and Celes. I don't think she's a furry, either, regardless of what certain fanartists would have us believe, so Mog and Umaro are out. Clearly, the choice is Gogo.

EDIT ONE: Please to not be bashing Terra.

Leo Christophe seemed to have a very assertive, self-confident personality that was easily the opposite of the wishy-washy "Will I ever dream" persona that is Terra. They say opposites attract, but I always saw that relationship to be the beginnings of a father and a daughter. But they would have certainly looked good together, if one ignores the age difference (factor of two).

So yeah, pushed to give an answer... Terra Christophe seems to roll off the tongue.

Realistically... I'm with the prevailing opinion here that Terra, without further character growth, wouldn't (shouldn't?) have found a soulmate.

PS. I am a massive fan of Terra, pre-WoR.

I guess if she absolutely had to marry someone, it would probably be Leo, but well...that won't work out very well now.

Still, she should be just fine with those orphans (not marrying them, of course).

Well, they did share an "intimate" moment on the ferry, that's what got me thinking on it at first, and it is also somewhat implied at his memorial with Terra's actions (ie the flowers {a bit of a stretch, but whatever}). Also, I don't recall there ever being any mention or facts given of Leo's actual age.
Then there was also a somwhat similar moment on the ferry with Shadow, and that's kinda been my dream matchup for some reason. They're both so distant and conceited, even though they foil in some other ways, they just seemed to be a match of some kind.

I doubled checked my facts, since you called me out on them, and I was wrong about his age. It appears that Leo was only 30 rather than 36 (which is what I recalled for some reason). I collected it from a copy of FF6 Ultimania which is, sadly, thousands of kilometers away from me right now.

However, Djibriel linked this, which, if you hop links twice, will get you this tidbit:

Quote (Niu)
Leo=Cristophe
30 188cm 83kg
7/8 type O
like: knighthood
hate: contemptible people
habit: litsen to music

... I find it rather disturbing what a lightweight Leo is, considering his height and what should be a massive muscular structure. *ahem*

So Terra and Leo, only twelve years apart! That's what, 66% of Terra's lifespan?

*shudders*

Still, I guess it's the best pairing if forced.

WHY should Terra marry anyone, indeed. I don't see why she should, because that goes straight into the fanfiction phase. Terra seemed kind of close to General Leo, but

I see Terra just...returning to Mobliz and spending the remains of her life not getting any by living with orphan children and a love couple. Terra did not get any, just like Butz.

Locke?! No way in hell! Locke will always be with Celes and nothing is gonna change that! Besides, the only thing Locke did for her was save her in the Narshe caves. I don't think that would be enough for either of them to fall for each other. IMO, Locke and Celes 4EVER! I still think that Edgar fits about 10 times better than Locke. I always like the pairing of Leo and Terra but it seems like it's out of guilt! I think Leo feels remorseful because Terra had to go through all of what the Empire put her through, so he feels like he owes her something! I think it's almost like the role of the protector; in trying to be by her so she felt safe, he ended up having feelings for her! I still like them together though blush.gif wub.gif

Locke risked his life to chase Terra to Zozo, almost died infiltrating the Magitek Labs in order to wake Terra up (at Ramuh's behest) and then helped Terra find the Espers and forge a short-lived treaty. Saving her in the Caves of Narshe is the tip of the heroic iceberg.

There's clear chemistry between Locke and Celes, but don't twist Locke into something that never cared for Terra. It was during his acts of bravery to protect and save Terra that Locke met and worked with Celes; which, I might add, culminated in Celes' highly questionable tactic of 'protecting' the Returners by warping herself and Kefka away, and then reappearing some weeks later -- with Gestahl's blessing -- fully reinstated in the Imperial military. Their camaraderie at that point was strained, and this was not addressed until over a year later; well into the World of Ruin.

Locke and Celes were only at the beginning of a relationship, barely two 'dates' in. Based on so little, to say they 'fell' for each other and would be together forever is a Hollywood-cliché worthy of retching.

I haven't seen how it all ends yet, but I think that you have good points. From what I hear, it doesn't seem like Locke and Celes end their story by giving each other a soft kiss during a glorious sunrise. Rather, they go off to face inner demons, but have a strong hope of returning. And to me it seemed like Terra and Locke had a strong platonic relationship, almost like Locke was an older brother figure.

Aye. I got the same thing from it.

However, I do like Leo for the short time you get him, but I think Terra would be more admiring of him rather than "loving".

Maybe she should just marry Arvis, the true hero of VI! wink.gif
