Can anyone give me a list of playable characters in order of their base magic power?

IIRC, Relm is at the top, followed by Terra, Celes, and Strago (not necessarily in that order).
At the bottom is either Cyan or Gogo, and I think Edgar, Sabin, and Locke's base magic stats aren't that great either. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Cyan is below Gogo.
And I think Mog may be above Strago. -CSM -------------------- The NEW Final Fantasy Wiki! Join us! |

I think Strago's on the low side, actually. The highest three are Relm, Terra, Celes, though, definitely.

Celes rocked at using magic, not that I used her that much. I remember
Possible spoilers: highlight to view and using her Runic ability to rape it up. fighting the boss in Darryl's Tomb (the one that casts Pearl) Quote I think Strago's on the low side, actually. And I'm surprised Strago is on the low side of magic considering that's all he is good for (barely). Quote And I think Mog may be above Strago. Mog seems like a worthy candidate though for sure. ![]() This post has been edited by w00tah86 on 3rd October 2006 21:20 -------------------- " Video Games are bad for you? I was actually interested for character development... That is, who I should pay most attention to... I've already beaten FFVI at least twice, I just wanted to know so I had to level minimally...
So estimations aren't going to really help much, I most desire to know exact numbers, and I know some people have them for Terra and Celes and Relm (see the favorite female char thread), so I was wondering if anyone had a complete list of all the characters in the game. |

And now, from the "Character FAQ" by "Meeple Lard" of GameFAQs's Final Fantasy III FAQs:
Terra Magic Power: 39 Locke Magic Power: 28 Mog Magic Power: 35 Edgar Magic Power: 29 Sabin Magic Power: 28 Shadow Magic Power: 33 Cyan Magic Power: 25 Celes Magic Power: 36 Setzer Magic Power: 29 Strago Magic Power: 34 Relm Magic Power: 44 Umaro Magic Power: 37 Gogo Magic Power: 26 Unfortunately, this list is missing one character: Gau. The person apparntly refused to do a character profile of Gau because it would be way too much work and length, and thus forces me to dig deeper into the other FAQs just to try to find Gau's base magic stat. You know what, I won't. Someone else here has GOT to know. (Djibriel? Caesar? Silverlance? Master ZED?) So...final conclusions? Relm's magic power is actually unreasonably through the roof, probably to make up for a sucky skill. Umaro's turns out to be pretty good (probably why Storm isn't bad). Cyan really does have lower base magic power than Gogo, but Strago still ranks high. Final ranking (without Gau, of course) Relm: 44 Terra: 39 (Umaro: 37) Celes: 36 Mog: 35 Strago: 34 Shadow: 33 Edgar: 29 Setzer: 29 Locke: 28 Sabin: 28 Gogo: 26 Cyan: 25 -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Gau's base Magic is 34.
I have base magic stats for temporary characters as well; here they are. Leo: 36. Banon: 32. That's what I wrote down years ago, anyways. I don't remember if I remembered to account for equipment bonuses correctly. Vicks: 28 Wedge: 29 Moogles: I recorded 33 for all but that could be wrong. Ghost: 30 The second ghost is probably the same, only five levels lower. "Choose a scenario, kupo" Mog: 12 This post has been edited by DragonKnight Zero on 9th October 2006 18:52 |

Too bad Leo can't join for at least a sidestory involving him and Celes. In addition to everything he has that's good, he has 21% MBlock for a base, the highest for a character. And assuming he can equip the same stuff Terra, Edgar, and Celes can use, he can get 128% easily.
Enhancer: 41% Aegis Shield: 81% Bard's Hat: 91% Force Armor: 121% White Cape: 128% So he still has room for a Relic! If you opt for Force Shield instead of Aegis, he can equip two relics! Too bad Leo isn't around for very long. -CSM Moderator Edit What does that have to do with the topic? -R51 This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 7th October 2006 13:13 -------------------- The NEW Final Fantasy Wiki! Quote (DragonKnight Zero @ 5th October 2006 01:36) Gau's base Magic is 34. Leo has a base of 36. Banon has 32. That's what I wrote down years ago, anyways. I don't remember if I remembered to account for the +1 Magic that the Silk Robe gives. Does Leo's base magic stat really matter anyway, or is Shock considered a magical attack (i.e. one whose algorithm uses magic power)? And I always thought that Gau wasn't bad at all. But do his stats change depending on which Rage he chooses? Also, I assume that Banon uses that magic power for his Health skill. And anyone got stats on Vicks, Wedge, the two ????? ghosts, and the non-Mog moogles, just for completeness's sake? Edit DragonKnight Zero has edited his post to include the stats of the temporary characters, except possibly non-Mog moogles that have magic stats different from 33 (perhaps "that one moogle in Mog's group"?). He has also informed me that Shock and Health use the magic power stat.
