I can confirm the existence of, if the question "does the magic counter materia exist on Chocobo Square" still stands as it says it does on the FFVII webpage, under Golden Square>games>Chocobo Square. If this question has already been answered, I apologize, but it hadn't been changed on the CoN FFVII page, so i don't know. I had a screenshot, but crap happens and it didn't take right. Apparently Alt+PrintScreen doesn't work, which I should have known. Alas, I'll have another screenshot soon, taken with other methods. It occured with a Gold Chocobo, with Joe riding his black chocobo, which I won't attempt to spell. Ok, I'll attempt it Teioh. Don't laugh.

Glad to be here at the forums, been watching and reading for a long time, just been too lazy to register. Hello to all

[EDIT] didn't bother to search the forums. Apparently the question isn't still standing, and so mods feel free to remove this post. Still good to be here tho :-)

[EDIT] I have that screenshot now though :-)

p.s., I promise the rest of my posts won't have this many edits. it's 1:51 A.M. I'm tired.

Yes, there is a materia called Countermagic in Chocobo Square, I saw it in Class S races, but I couldn't get it from there ,because of Teioh ( or TouhouFuKai, in Jap version). You can get a Counter Magic materia, though, in CD3 : In the crater there is a certain place ( a blue-light waterfall in a mountain-like path..) when you can get one pressing circle ( you can't see that materia, by the way). Its a cool materia, works with a paired magic or summon. Anyway, welcome to da Caves.

Thanks for the welcoming to the board.

Is this materia in the crater past the "point of no return"?

Also, where is the last piece of magic materia that i'm missing? I've gotten all the others and mastered them, but I saw that I'm missing one, and it's in the crater. Is it past the PNR?

No it's not, you,re not on your way down to Sephiroth when you can get taht materia. Since it's hidden well, I only got it after 400+ chocobo races since I didn't know it was there in the crater. blink.gif

There's no extra item/materia/etc. when you are at your "PNR".

You shouldn't worry about it and try to exploit the duping bug of the crater, it's useful laugh.gif

You know taking a way, getting back in the Highwind, taking the other path and talk to your party members...

Obviously, we rarely get members of your "quality" in the FFVII forum, it looks like you red the rules not like many people here...

Welcome to CoN and enjoy your stay!

I made sure to read the rules; the last thing I want is to upset anyone on this board. You all seem like well mannered, helpful, polite people who are doing this for fun, and yet take it seriously. I've been playing this game for years and haven't come across a forum, or a website (CoN) even close to the quality of this one.

Thanks for the compliment btw. Means a lot coming from the "Master" of FFT :-) I love that game and consider it the best FF game yet, despite it's drastic difference in gameplay from the others.

I will definitely enjoy my stay and am particularly interested in starting to post in the trivia thread. I've been reading up on that and have it set to email alert me, so I'll know when a new question has been asked, etc.

Thanks for having me

i repeat again what others have said, you seem like a well reasoned individual with some valid views to add to this forum smile.gif

It seemed to me that the "Magic Counter" materia had a much higher droprate in the chocobo square than many has estimated... dropped to me quite frequently thumbup.gif

I'd also like to add my admiration for the other CoN posters, as there has been no flaming, just well explained, and well answered posts throughout. blush.gif

Welcome thumbup.gif

Wasn't there a Magic Counter Materia at the North Cave (before the ending battles with the last Jenova, Bizzaro Sephiroth and Safer Sephiroth), givin' to Cloud by a party member from the team that took the opposite path, or am I thinking of something else? All three members of the opposite team gave Cloud something randomly if I remember correctly. Magic Counter materia might have been one of those.

About that last magic materia that Jordosaxman said he was missing. That's 'SHIELD' materia. It's in the place where the music is different from all of Nothern Crater...

AND complete the Chocobo Sidequest, with the Black Chocobo at least you'll be able to relax against Teioh. While sprinting the fastest your chocobo is able to, press the stamina recovery button, that way you'll always go FAST and loose very lil stamina! You'll eventualy win the COUNTER materia!

I know how to beat Teioh, he's not an issue, it's the fact that the chances of getting the materia as a prize is a slim chance. Even with an emulator. Trust me I've tried. I managed to get all the others, but not the magic counter...yet. Thanks for the info on the North Crater materia. Anyone know which path it's on? Left or right?

Fabulous Freebird: I don't THINK that any important materia is given to Cloud at that point. I will check though.

Diziskitzo: counter materia or magic counter?

Moglv99: do you know which path it's on; left or right?

Zodiac: Yeeah i know about the crater bug it rocks. I used it to fight the magic pots after using the W-Item trick to rack up on Elixirs. Freakin rocks.

To all: The cheat for the Chocobo Races is false; You need only hold R1+R2. This made a big difference to me when using a gaming controller for a computer. Something else that's interesting; All chocobo races that you can bet on are all calculated before the race ever starts. What I mean is, no matter how many times you go through a race on an emulator, using the save/load function, it will always end the same way. Same 1'st, 2'nd, 3'rd place and so on. I thought this was interesting.

The long path!, don't know wich left or right is, let's say go down! and then right! the music should be different, like the one from when just before the WEAPONS woke up!

In chocobo racing its just a matter of luck to get the magic counter materia
It took me like 30 races in class s before i finally got it
And if you have your chocobo well trained that teome guy should be no problem

You can increase your chances of getting the materia in the chocobo square by racing for it in the second disc before you get the submarine. You might think all you get are Counter-Attack materia but there's also Magic-Counter. So yeah, it's easier this way.
