Has anyone here played all the way through Xenogears and could compare the content (sexual content, nudity, language) with that of FF7? If there is any way to avoid parts of this could you please let me know? The Christian review site that I found for it wasn't much help because they got so hung up on the plot.
By the way, I don't really care whether you love it or hate it. Since you cant really trust ESRB ratings for RPGs, I just want to figure out if parts I see as negative (sexual content, language) are enough to rule out me buying it. -------------------- Status: FF6 -- Finished! i would probably say that ff7 was a great deal heavier on the bad language for sure. there is a scene or two of suggested sexual intercourse, but there's nothing graphic or tasteless, and after all, the artwork is sprite-based. the plot, of course, is fairly "anti-Christian," in that it draw direct parallels between the Christian faith and evil, manipulative, controlling churches. the plots of a number of square games share the pattern. at any rate, it shouldn't be overly offensive.

What about cutscenes? Is there nudity in those?

Also, Emeralda is naked in sprite form in one scene. Permission to speak freely, captain? If you find naked people and "bad words" more offensive than extr33m violence or the complete degradation of a widely-practiced religion, I'd rather you don't play a game as good as Xenogears, because you really don't deserve to. There is prostitution and cussing in FFVII, although the vast majority of the latter is censored. The first doesn’t make an appearance in Xenogears and the second either doesn’t at all or it was so insignificant that I can’t remember it. As long as you can hack a couple of nude images (none of which present genitals) and one implied sex scene you really shouldn't have a problem with this game.
Unless you have a problem with the use of Judeo-Christian iconography in conjunction with generally antagonistic entities; if so you’re pretty much SOL. -------------------- |

Thanks for answering my questions everybody. It looks the only game "degrading Christianity
 " I'll be playing anytime soon is Final Fantasy Tactics.If anyone has anymore comments/opinions I'd like to hear them.
