Hm.... Hello.
I was wondering: I saw, here in CoN, that I HAVE to use a Carob Nut in order to get a Blue, a Green and a Black Chocobo, but to obtain the Gold one I MUST use the Zeio. Ok, that's the way it is, but... why? I've been searching for tables that could explain me that "Carob is used for a better rate of success in order to get a colored Chocobo" or "Only Zeio makes a Gold one", but didn't find. And what about all the other Nuts? The Greens are well explained: some gives some turns of advantage, and some reduces the percentage of flee. But... the Nuts? ------ Another thing that annoys me: why do I have to get a "B" with a "C" Yellow Chocobo to get a Green? Wouldn't be easier doing it with 2 "A"s? Or then: Did anyone try crossing... "F" with "A"... or "E" with "D", in order of getting different results? ------ Again, I thank you all for everything. And please, be patient: my English isn't good. ![]() |

It's just a fact of the game that you need the Carob Nut to get a Blue, Green or Black Chocobo, and the Zeio Nut to get a Gold. If you use a different type, you just get a regular Chocobo.
Great + Good + Carob = Blue/Green Chocobo Blue + Green + Carob = Black Chocobo Black + Wonderful + Zeio = Gold Chocobo That's the system, just the way it is unfortunately. -------------------- I like stories! Just because I have a low post count does not mean I lack knowledge. |

Thanks for the reply, Lenny. ^^ The thing that makes me wonder is: how would a person that doesn't read Walkthroughs get a Gold Chocobo by breeding? Well, the first parts are easy.. "Well... If I breed this kind of Yellow with this I get... A blue one! Nice!" "And if I try it again? Maybe I can get something different... Oh, a green!" "Hmmm... And if I breed'em themselves? Do I get something? Wow, a Black one!" Well, until here we can make a logical thinking that we could get here. But... HOW would a person think that, for getting the Gold one, she should get the Black one and breed with a YELLOW again? This kind of think that makes me think.." Maybe... MAYBE there's a unknown color!" Then i think again and... "No, a game like this must have been all discovered... There's much time since it's releasing!" But I insist and think: "There are A, B, C, D, E, and F types, and a great variety of Greens also... There are numerous possibilities of crossings! Maybe there's something new there.." But it would take A LOT of work... =P |

One to go under the swamp and find an Onyx (WTF?) Weapon? Even less logical. Hmmm... But maybe a super racer race... xD But yeah... That Mideel's White Chocobo freaks me out... =P |

The use of greens has been documented already. Poke around in the forum search function, I posted a thread about it at some point. I think it made it in the FF7 section, too, so you might want to look for it there.
As for undiscovered colors, I can say this much. Unless Square went through the effort of burying a new kind of chocobo in the code, totally seperated from the other colors, there are none. In fact, you can verify this with a gameshark code easily by going through the possible IDs. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

It's true, the use of greens can be seen in many places, but the use of Nuts (besides of Zeio and Carob - even if there is no "written" reason that says "This one is for Gold ones" and so) isn't. And that's what I'm looking for. About the colors, as I don't have a Gameshark neither my PS has a place to put it, I can't discover it. =/ Edit: I think I found a table of it... It is almost what I wanted: Nuts: NAME: | PRICE: | PURCHASED: | SUCCESS: Pepio Nut | 100 Gil | Farm | Possible Luchile Nut | 200 Gil | Farm | Possible Sahara Nut | 400 Gil | Farm | Possible Lasan Nut | 600 Gil | Farm | Likely Param Nut | 1500 Gil | Sage | Very Likely Porov Nut | 2000 Gil | Sage | Very Likely Carob Nut | N/A | N/A | Near 100% Zeio Nut | N/A | N/A | Near 100% ^^ This post has been edited by Falassion on 15th September 2006 21:14 |

Quote (w00tah86 @ 17th September 2006 20:02) Jesus I remember doing that for the first time back in 8th grade. Was so fun ![]() I can say exactly the same... And I had fun yesterday.. xD Well, now I gotta post the results of my researches: Grear I started with the old combination of a Great Yellow Female with a Good Yellow Male. Feeding'em with 99 Sylkis Greens each (no W-Item yet - my Mastered All were sold. =P) and running with'em 'till S Class, I mated'em and got a Blue Male. I tried to use other Nuts (like Zeio or Porov), but all I got was Yellow ones. It must be the way to improve Yellow in order to get fast Colored chocobos. After, I combined a Great Yellow Male with a Good Yellow Female. Feeding'em with 99 Sylkis Greens each and running with'em 'till S Class again, I mated'em and got a Green Female. Then, combining the Blue Male and the Green Female (Both feeded with 99 Sylkis and in S-Class), I got a Black Female. At last, I hunted for a Wonderful Male and feeded it with 99 Sylkis and uped it to S-Class and did the same to the Black one. With both well-trained, I mated'em and got a Gold Female. ^^ Here is the table of atributes: _Name__|_Top Speed_|__Stamina__|Sylkis G._|__Cor/Classe F-Grea |____95_____|___999____|___99___|__Ye / B M-Good |____89_____|___999____|___99___|__Ye / C M-Blue |____105____|___999____|___99___|__Blue F-Good |____82_____|___999____|___99___|__Ye / C M-Grea |____89_____|___999____|___99___|__Ye / B F-Gree |____105____|___999____|___99___|__Green F-Blac |____116____|___999____|___99___|__Black M-Wond |____105____|___999____|___99___|__Ye / A Goldie |____163____|___999____|___99___|__Golden Well, I see that I can improve It, but... It will cost a lot more. =P Total Cost of it = 891 Sylkis Greens = 4.455.000 Well, I'd like to see your opinions about It... I'm thinking about "breeding back" (Mate the Gold with a Improved F, in order of getting a even more improved yellow, and the re-breed all back.)... Or then, mate the Gold with an overpowered Wonderful Yellow (made mating 2 Wonderful Yellows), getting a Suberb Wonderful One, and then mating it with the Black one again. What do you think? Thank you for your answers. =) This post has been edited by Falassion on 18th September 2006 16:56 |
