Ok, i went online and found an editor because i wanted to see if i could make an ultimate materia combo, after a very long time of trial and error ideas, i came up with a combo that allows me to always be revived with full health no matter how i die, it works great i beat the emerald weapon very easily with it, but when i went to the ruby weapon i found that as long as his finger didn't hit me i could use the combo, for some reason after his finger would hit me and i die the combo would not activate, ill put my exact line up here:
Cloud, Barret, and Red XIII (lvl 99) 999HP/9999MP -Weapon: The highest one for each char. -Arm: Imperial Guard (mostly because it has the most paired slots and is decent on defenses, now that i think about it y do i need defences when i should be immortal) -Acc: Ribbon (No Status Effects!) Materia: -Weapon: (Added Effect = Hades) (Elemental = Alexander) (MP Absorb = Master Summon) (HP<->MP = Double Cut) -Arm: (Knights of the Round = MP Turbo) (Final Attack = Pheonix) (W-Summon = HP Plus) Ok for one, the Knights summon and MP turbo, not sure if thats working or not all i know is that every attack they do is 9999 dmg. The HP Plus is for the stat decreases which then gets turned in MP by the HP<->MP Materia. Added Effect and Hades is so that i do all status effects on attack (why not?). Elemental and elexander is for the holy benifit to my attacks so i do 9999 damage to the weapons. Master Summon and MP Absorb is so that i can get my mana back after every summon (works very nicely). And now for the immortal combo, its simple just a Final Attack and pheonix, it will cast pheonix after i die and bring me and the rest of my party back to full health everytime as long as i have mana (which is what the mana enhancements are for heh). Now for the Problem!! i dont get it, i have a ribbon which makes it so i cant get status effects right? well after the fingers from the ruby weapon hit me for some reason my characters wont cast pheonix when they die... anyone know whats going on? other than the ruby weapon nothing stands even the slightest chance with this setup. |

It's not the ultimate combo because you can only use final attack so many times.
But if i remember correctly once it's mastered it has unlimited uses. Isn't it easier to come with 2 characters dead at the start? I dont know, I haven't tried Ruby yet. final attack has one use per star. the maximum, at master level, is five uses.

Oh i forgot to mention, all materia up there is mastered. the question about the tenetacles is if they somhow effect my ability to use the final attack materia. and about the use of 5 times only with final attack, i sat and watched the emerald weapon kill me well over 30 times and not once did my final attack fail, so im thinkin its infinite.

I think the poblem may be that the tentacles are taking yuor mp and when you die you dont have enough mp to cast phoenix otherwise it sounds pretty wierd.

And blaze, i have 9999 MP and when the tentacles hit me they take 400-600 MP. ive played him 4 times now and eveytime my pheonix-final attack combo only fails after the tentacles have hit me. but hey, even if i can figure out y the tentacles are doing that, the cover trick may work heh. |

I had exactly the same problem. When Ruby Whirlsands your guys away it somehow screws up the Final Attack. If you kill two characters before the battle and keep them dead throughout (until they are obviously revived), the problem is fixed. I don't think it has anything to do with the Ribbon however. This method worked for me so it should do for you. Not that I ever use Final Attack anymore... *cough* -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |
