I've said this a lot of times. Zidane gets bad press. A lot of people pick on him, call him girly, whiny, etc. I don't get it. Zidane is one of the most carefree, suave, and together characters, even more so than Cecil in some ways. Remember that he only breaks down at one point in the game, and it plays to a really good song anyway so all is forgiven there. Compare him to Tidus and even Squall, and he's clearly one of the better main characters. -CSM

Heh, I replied earlier but didn't give my reasons why I picked Zidane.
(First I should say that I'm surprised that at this point, Zidane has the most votes, though that makes me a happy Zidane fan, indeed... ![]() Two main things I like about Zidane. One is that on his own, as a character, he's got a lot of great heroic qualities; he's a do-gooder but without really shoving his "righteousness" in everyone's face. He's a leader that knows he needs to be one, and isn't someone who just wound up in that position and resents it for a good part of the game. Plus I love that his advice comes without being preachy. He's just a genuinely NICE guy. The second thing I like about him comes from the saying "a hero is only as good as the villain he faces." I thought Kuja was a great villain; right up there with Kefka. The fact that Zidane found the strength to face Kuja, but also had the compassion to try to understand Kuja where no one else did...? That was something about him that I absolutely adored. Zidane does get a lot of fandom flack, mostly for the reason his character design is chibified, that people think he looks girly, the fact he has a tail, that sort of thing. Plus the emo-crowd seems to rag on him for being such a cheerful, happy person. I though he was the most charming of all the leads, and certainly the one I find has the most personality. He's a romantic dork and I love him for it. XD I also liked the fact that his growth as a character didn't mean that he had to see the error of his ways and do an attitude reversal. He had beliefs throughout the game, beliefs that were the heart of his character, and he didn't have to change them, he just had to stick by and strengthen them. My favourite character on the poll is Locke, but I'm not sure I'd consider him a 'lead' because you don't even have to have him at the end. That being said, Cecil got my vote.

Bartz Klauser first and Locke Cole second.
The reason why I chose Bartz was because in the newer FFs, all I've been seeing is lame emos that like to shake around their gunblades/buster swords in front of nostalgic fanboys/fannoobs/fanny-fanboys who act as if they've moved on to better things. Now, with Cecil and Bartz in comparison, I say Cecil was the only better character in FF4, but he had a one-sided backstory and he wasn't my type. I love going to new places, so I say Bartz is my personal favorite. What's even better is that he travels with the only chocobo that has true personality in FF itself. I also thought he was much better at women than Zidane, Irvine, and Edge. That's what made him so badass to me: Never giving a crap about the world but for himself. Locke was a decent character and I found him to be a very old school |

You know.. I dont have one. They're all pussies and chumps. Best supporting character would be alot wilder of a thread with way too many options for a poll. If you made me pick one at bullet point I'd have to go with Bartz, eventhough I hate the name, everything that NeoEx-Death said is spot on.

I voted locke but for some reason it didnt show up. Locke to me is the best because everything he stands for, how loyal he is to his friends. Not to mention the lengths he goes to protect the ones he loves. He also is fighting to protect the one he lost. His love for the one he lost drives him to not only make a world where he and his loved ones can live, but to also prove how much he loved his losted love.

Cloud's my favorite lead, and then Zidane and Cecil. I like Locke, but he's not really a lead.

Cloud's my favorite, especially the kingdom Hearts version.
