stealing my idea
![]() FF6 [3US] kicked so much ass. The characters were good. They were developed and each played a crucial role in the game. Their stories fit perfectly in the plot unlike some characters in some games ::cough:: Cait Sith, Quina ::cough:: The villain was spectacular. Kefka was the ultimate psychotic, power-hungry enemy. I could go on and on about this game but i'll spare you the reading. Final Fantasy VI (III in the U.S.) is untouchable, period. Â Definitely the high point of the series, and one of the, if not the, most memorable and spectacular RPG experiences of all time.
Basically everything about this game was executed flawlessly. Â The story was to die for, with its twists and turns. Â The characters were developed painstakingly, making each and every one unforgettable. Â Gameplay was superb, and the graphics ranked among the best of its time. Â The game's music has yet to be matched. Â Best of all, the game was incredibly fun to play, an aspect which many RPGs today lack rather conspicuously. A full ode to the many wonders of FFVI would be pointless here, because it would take up far too much space. Â Needless to say, I love this game. FFVI was definitely the pinnacle of the Final Fantasy series, and I would sing its praises on the rooftops for its brilliant excellence in every category. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. ooops I voted wrong one -_-
I like the FFIV story the best (that's why I accidenly voted that...), but overall, I didn't like the game play :( my second favorite story would be FFVI, and seriously, I don't think FFVI would cost much now -_- (only one you can get is used one probably O_o) -------------------- I will be there... |

FF7. First one i played and still my favorite. The story is so up for interpretation that debates can start just like that.
FF6= $5-10 at FuncoLand. I just played the ROM myself. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

I found Tactics to be my current favorite. I may love FF6 more overall, or maybe not, but either way Tactics just seems better right now. And 10 choice restrictions? I see 11 already...

FF9. This was the second FF i played. and I LOVED it. I couldn't put it down. The first day I had it, I stayed up all night to play it. Whenever I wasn't playing it, I was thinking about what was next in store for the characters. I've never been that interested or involved in a game than FF9.

My number one favorite overall has to be, Final Fantasy Tactics.I loved to over kill level gaining and go to the next stage ( between the castle and the first town I leveled up to around level 30 -40 and mastered squire, chemist, and a bit more. I also likied the way no matter how high your level got you still had challenging fights with chocobo's and Imps. I never lost a battle during that entire game."
My second favorite would have to be FFIV.(2 US)It was my first Final fantasy game ever.I couldn't read back then and I was so frusterated of walking in circles not knowing where or what to do.So I forced myself to learn to read. A few months later thanks to the help of my dad and mom. I learned to read. I was above reading level until grade 6. So FFII is my main reason for learning to read. Even though I love Final Fantasy III and I know it's the overall best game. I can't say it's anywhere higher then third place. ~Be nice to people, they out number you 7.0 billion to one.~ -------------------- I was thinking of Chocolate rivers flowing with candycane gum drops , and life savers made of CHEESE....Mmmmm |

I'd say 6 had my favorite story (or sums of stories...), but as far as the best overall game, I'm going with the original.  Played it back when it was new, still play it now.  The simplicity of the story was what helped it out so much.  These other games, they have to boast improved graphics, sound, and other things which quite frankly aren't that important.  That's a blanket statement for video games in general, and not so much for the FFs.  But it's still true.  But back to FFI, the option of choosing whomever you want to fight your saga to me gives it more replayability than any of the other games.  The first time through, the cutscenes of say FF7 may seem really neat, but after you've cruised through the game once they become annoying.  I have more to say about that, but I'm tired of typing and you're prob'ly tired of reading  so suffice  it to say I'm ashamed I was the only vote for the original.  Booya.
bryce oh and Bob that's funny about you not being able to read during FF4. I had the exact same problem myself, and instead of learning to read I watched my brother go through and then I'd memorize the story. But yeah, FF4 had me stumped as a young-un. -------------------- i see you've set this time aside to humiliate yourself in public. |

Final Fantasy IV
Five Reasons Why: 1. The graphics got a breakthrough. I mean, if you compare FF6 to the other SNES games, it was magic. "3D" map in the airship sequence, enemies that fade away instead of that really weird thing where enemies disappear in lines, and better sprites. 2. The songs in FF6 were Nobuo's best work, hands down. Any questions asked, we'll hang you. ![]() 3. The story was very in-depth and touching. Everyone had a reason for being there, instead of just tagging along for the adventure, which is very hard to do with so many characters. 4. The Esper system was simple to learn and hard to master, making it a very effective and successful system when considering gameplay. The down side is that you have to travel through half of the World of Balance before you can get your first Magicites. 5. If I don't either FF6 or FF4, the admins will kill me. In this case, I like FF6 better. ![]() -------------------- Nine-hundred ninety-nine billion nine-hundered ninety-nine million nine-hundred ninety-nine thousand nine-hundred ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall... |

Yeah, if I liked Final Fantasy 4 better, I'd state 5 reasons about ff6 too. ![]() -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

Why am i practically the only one voting for FF V? It was a great game:
1. Awesome music(Battle with Gilgamesh, anyone?) 2. Storyline was interesting 3. Lots of secrets and challenge4.Many classes were introduced or given trademark abilities(Mimic and others) -------------------- Bart:And of course you're fully licensed by the state of Ohio. It's probably because not many people have played it. At least not to the extent of the others. I've never played it myself, so I have no idea.

I really hate to sound like an arrogant jerk here, but I really do have a serious case against FFV (which I consider one of the low points of the series).
The game just had no character development whatsoever. Bartz (or Butz, or Buntz, whichever translation you enjoy using) had quite literally no personality. I suppose he was made out to be your typical adventuring hero with a mysterious past, but he did it in such a bland way as to make any sort of relation towards him utterly impossible. Galuf's backstory was half-interesting, but only to the point where you could tolerate it until he was replaced by Krile. Speaking of Krile, her personality was even more non-existant than Bartz, and she seemed to exist only for the purpose of filling in an empty character slot. Reina was such a blatant princess/damsel-in-distress stereotype that it makes me nauseous just thinking about it. The one person who came closest to being a decent, well-developed character was Faris, and they decided to ruin the entire thing by giving her a faux pirate accent. It's both eerie and almost humorous to note that the only character I truly liked in the game was Gilgamesh. You do make valid points about the gameplay (one of the best ATB Job Systems), music (great battle theme), and challenge (Shinryu was one tough customer). Even the storyline was very entertaining, to an extent. But I just couldn't stand the utter lack of character personality. Sorry, but I just had to say that. Please don't hurt me. ![]() -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. I personally think that wasd done intentionally. If, say, Shadow from FF6 was in FF5, and they developed him as a cold-hearted assassin, it would be odd to make him into a knight, bard, etc. They left the characters' personalities to the job system. However, you do make good points. Ha, I'm probably only defending it because I loved it so much. -------------------- Lou: There's a couple of guys fighting down at the aquarium, Chief. i would of picked FFX but it's not original style so it's outta the question even though it's an amazing game.
i never finished FF3 yet so i can't pick it... FF8 sucks, never played 2 or 4 or 1... but im working on it, 9 was excellent and it brought back the classic FF style... FF8 sucked, but i prefered FF7 cuz it was the first FF game i played and it started me on RPGs so yeah it an obvious choice, FF7!!!! Two things in particular bug me in FF6. Actually 3, that vanish/doom is actually viable. The other two are the evade bug, which I find to be extremely annoying, and the esper stats at level up. Stats at level up are annoying, making the game more stressful then it really should have to be. In order to get really high stats, you have to stay a low level until you pick up everyone in the WoR, and then you have to watch where the espers are. I rather just level and actually get stat upgrades at level up. Of course, this would probably result in lower long-term stats, but if higher stats weren't possible, then it wouldn't matter would it? =) Also, those unable to equip espers also get left out. Therefore, this game, FF8 and FF9 take more constant effort than a game like FF7 or FF10 where your long-term status is reasonably set. For this reason alone I had to vote FF7 over FF6, though I wish FF7 was more difficult... it's -too- brainless. =)
Also, all the cartridge bugs... bug. Relm sketch is evil, and then there's a bug I always get in the Phoenix Cave. The only way I can ever get through is to level one character like mad and Atma/offering my way through while the other group moogle charms. That's the only way to keep the battles short and from bugging at 30-40 seconds. Anyway, if I could tweak about 10 things FF6 would be number 1, but as is, it's close, but not quite there. |

FF6 always has benn, is, and always will be my fav. FF game.
There was a diverse range of characters all of whom(except for Gogo and Umaro, who were hidden characters)added something unique and individual to the story, for instance, throgh most of the game you are confronted with many of Locke's problems. Also, you are left to wonder why Intercepter took an instant liking to Relm, when he is supposed to bite, dis-like strangers, trust only those people who have proven themselves in some way to him, and is, in general, one of the best guard dogs anyone could hope for. The magic system was better(you had to pick which esper would be best for any given situation, and un-like 7 where you could slap on as many as 16 pieces of materia at a time you could only equip one esper at a time). One thing that I did not like about the game was that there were not very many character specific weapons, i.e. most people could use swords, everyone could use daggers(excepting Umaro, because he didn't need one) Overall FF6 was definitely the best installment of the series( if you can really call it that since the games aren't really connected to one another) |

I actually love games where there are little or no character-specific weapons. Â I find it more realistic in that sense. Think of it this way: what are the odds that every shop in every town you come accross happens to carry the exact sort of weapons and items that your specific characters know precisely how to use? Â For me, I think, the ideal sort of shop would be one that sells all sorts of weapons and armor that is interchangeable between your characters, and a good number of items that you can't really use at all. I liked FFVI, and a good number of other RPGs, because most of its characters were trained in at least a few basic martial weapons. Â Of course, there were still a few class-specific weapons, but at least these made sense. Â (Cyan's katana and Shadow's ninja swords, for example). -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. I didn't choose FFVI because I knew it would be pretty much moot. So, I chose VII, a very close 2nd in my opinion.
I loved the dark storyline of a forgotten past and revenge. Character development was good(for most characters) and the soundtrack was superb, especially the songs having to do somehow with Sephiroth and Cloud's past. The materia system was fun and easy to learn. Honorable mention has to go to V and Tactics for their great takes on the job system. Also, I know I'll be hated for this, but I really enjoyed Mystic Quest. It was the first FF I ever played, and it will always have a place in my library. ![]() -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |
