Looks like it's time for another weekly (or bi-weekly, or whatever) plug to the growing CoN gaming community
![]() --What is Xfire?-- Xfire is an in-game instant messaging client. It's essentially the same as any other IM client out there (like MSN, Yahoo, AIM), except it displays what games the people on your contact list are currently playing, and allows you to unobtrusively message them as they play. On installation, Xfire recognizes any supported games installed on your system (everything from Freecell to Teamspeak to Unreal Tournament--a complete list is available at the Xfire Homepage), and allows you to launch any of these games by right clicking on Xfire's system tray icon. If the games you play use private servers (e.g. Unreal Tournament, Counter Strike), Xfire also suggests servers for you to play on and will launch the game and connect you to that server with a single click. To top everything off, Xfire is able to track your gaming habits for you (and your friends) on their website. This post has been edited by Phoenix on 23rd October 2019 04:40 |

As I said in chat, as soon as I can talk to my friend who works for XFire and find out how usable it is for UT, I may check it out. Beyond that, I don't play online games nearly enough to install more software.
