Hello this is my very second thread in CoN smile.gif

This thread is created to post the worst time you had in FFVII, like wandering around some areas trying to find the exit in these fake-3d backgrounds, like how many times you tryied to kill JENOVA-LIFE and so on.

On my recent playthrough,my worst time was trying to get Vincent the first time reaching Nibelheim. 1st time: Died to Lost Number when the monster's HP were around 200. 2nd time: beated Lost Number, talked to Vincent, put him into party. I was quite bored and fleed all battles. I lost Cloud and Vincent as I fled all the time. No Phoenix downs again...Then 5 steps from the exit of Shinra Mansion I entered a battle and lost!!!
The 3rd time I did it alright... thumbup.gif

Another one: trying to beat Materia Keeper. Before fighting it, I was trying to seek how to proceed...When I came back, I didn't notice that there was a ladder...And after all those meaningless battles, I lost Cloud and hadn't any Phoenix downs! The 3rd time trying to beat it (thank Big Guard, survived Trine), it's HP was reduced to 4000, Barret died, and Tifa only remained alive. I was quite lucky, she was at back row and had the Long Range materia equiped. My tactic was: trying to stay alive and raise my Limit Break bar. Used 20 Hi-potions, fought 20 minutes, but did it at last. Cure2 was a pain in the ass... thumbdown.gif

After these unfun hours of playing, I bought 20 phoenix down when I reached Rocket Town...

Trying to figure out where to press OKAY at in the Magic Pot swamp area in the Northern Cave. Ugh.

Well, at least FFVIII/IX's psuedo-3D backgrounds were alot better.

Edit: The Ice Cave! Gaia Cliffs or whatever it was called. Even the help feature on doesn't help. xD

The parts that were the most problematic, probably the first time where Cloud and Co. enter the crater after climbing Gaia's Cliff, trying to get past the swirling multicoloured whirlwinds and lightning was really annoying.

And trying to get Alexander at the Great Glacier area, must have passed out several times before i managed to even get the right path from the hot springs.

Battles aren't really that problematic as long as you keep on training and levelling up and making sure that you've got your best materia equipped.

Plus, CoN's fabulous walkthrough will always make sure that no enemy is going to be too unassailable. biggrin.gif

Mine would have to be the Wall in the Temple of The Ancients.
Only on my second playthrough I had a majorly tough time with him. And since you forced to use Aeris I lvled up so much my characters overpowered Vincent. (i brought Tifa)
Edit
Ahh yes the train graveyard drove me nuts as well biggrin.gif

My record is pretty bad, but FFVII was the first RPG (besides Pokemon for GB) that I seriously got into.

When I got to the train graveyard, I didn't see that you could walk through the trains; I had to LOOK INSIDE the strategy guide at Amazon.com (talk about a lucky break.)

I also didn't see Tifa in the sewer before you fight Aps, so I wandered around perilously low on supplies for 15 minutes.

At Gaea's cliff, I didn't get that you climb up after fighting the schizo thing. I thought I had taken a wrong turn so I climbed back down and went to find Vincent instead. Oh boy.

I think i have the worst...of all time... okay here it goes (this was my first RPG though so yeah)

I just bought the game and fought the Guard Scorpion, and the timer started so istarted to panic, and i ran to wear the save point was, and tried to get into that door with the warning tape around it, for the ten minutes...i felt like an idiot when i replayed it and remembered the stupid ladder...-.-

Believe it or not the one the onlt time, was in my first playthrough. It was the battle against the robot that reno unleashes upon you. I so didn't understand RPGs back then.
Anywho long story short. I had leveld up to level 70 and still couldn't beat this thing.
Mewanwhile I was halfway throught the chocobo side-quest. I had blue and green before entering the underwater reactor, anyways, bread for black. Then gold.
Long story short I KotR'd his ass.
But after all the leveling and attempts I had made which all ended in my patheitc defeat. i felt pretty pathetic.
Especially now looking back, but hey I was 8 years old at the time.

I kept getting horribly lost looking for the Temple of the Ancients. But it wasn't all bad, because I stumbled upon Yuffie during my travels. happy.gif

Worst time I had in FFVII was when I was at the Sector 4 Mako Reactor (at the scene where you have to press all buttons at the same time). I never really understood the part, so I just randomly kept tapping the OK button and I kept getting the error dialogue. I never really understood this until I reset the game and actually PAID attention to the dialogues, then I made it tongue.gif

Playing the first time had this problem too... darn I didn't keep much attension to the dialogues, and once I got to Safer Sephiroth said "WTF is TAHT? (taht not that xD)"

I thought I was the only one! I leveled so much by accident just because I had no idea I had to move the trains! It made me want to stop playing.

FireStorm, you should have levelled up in the Gi Cave (underneath Cosmo Canyon) before any of that tongue.gif Around 1000 exp for each battle (and they're easy battles, too).

Mine was trying to get Yuffie to Lv. 33 in order to beat Godo in the Pagoda in Wutai. That was a pain the ass... Another was actually trying to get Yuffie to appear while encountering random battles in the forests.

Are you in the right forest? You find her in the short stretch of forest near Fort Condor.

You find her in any forest after you reach Condor Fort.

I hate the snow fields. The only thing I ever look for in them is the Added Cut materia. Once, I has spent ages looking around, and kind of hoped that i'd fall down out of exhaustion, and I saw it! Then I fainted. It was so close...

My worst part of the game was the first few hours I played. I had been so hyped up about getting FF7 (I loved FF6). I bought a Playstation and reserved the game with my first paycheck from my first job. So I finally get the game, start it up, sit down on my bed and huh? WTF? These graphics are terrible! I can't see where I am at all! I had to have the little white hand over my head to get around.

I figured out the problem before too long, when I went to get something out of the tall cabinet that the TV sat on (while the game was still playing.) Ah... when I am close to the screen, the graphics aren't bad.

My mom made me an appointment with the eye doctor the next day. (I'd had perfect vision up until that year, so it was unfathomable for me to grasp that something was wrong with my eyes and not with the game!)

But boy, once I got those glasses and contacts, I could really enjoy the game!

The numerous times that i tried to kill Ruby and Emerald WEAPON without KotR aside, there was one other time i got game over in FFVII which really peeved me off, which was towards the end of the game in the northern crater when a gargoyle-like creature with an ability called level 5 death happened to use it against my party who were all at levels that were multiples of 5. As far as i remembered i hadn't saved for a while either, so naturally i was a wee bit peeved off. There was another point in the game where i thought i had lost my character when he went off screen while walking across some beams in a mako reactor during a flashback. Just as i was about to give up thinking he was stuck and restart the game he magically appeared back on screen. In fact, since i was also playing using a walkthrough to make sure i didnt miss any part of the storyline (it gets quite annoying how you have to venture out of your way to fill in little 'plot holes') i ended up spending a lot of time searching for items which would eventually become usless or just not worth the effort so the walkthrough had me waste a lot of time essentially doing nothing useful.

I always get extremely frustrated trying to find Yuffie in Wutai. I don't play the game over and over, so by the time I play it again, I've forgotten what I did last time.
