No, it's not a lot of hassle. It can't be done.

One more confirmation from a CoN'er. Can't be done unless you shark the game.

Your problem is that you need to understand how invitation works in the context of the game, it isn't just making enemies into allies, there's a little more to it. When you invite a character, you will see speech bubbles appear above the inviter and invited. To grasp what that little conversation is about, refer to conversations Ramza had with Miluda in Chapter 1 and Meliadoul in Chapter 4. The last conversation with Meliadoul before she joins is what a successful invitation looks like. The other conversations resemble what reads as "Missed" or "Guarded". Now, by now you should be thinking about how Miluda does not join you. This is because she has convictions and will not turn sides. On the other hand, the generic troops that attack you on behalf of the Hokuten, the Nanten, Lionel, etc. are not attacking you because they hate you, they fight because they're following orders, and the monsters in the wilderness are just savages following a defensive fight or flight response. When you invite those characters, you're telling them that you are the good guy, that you do not want to hurt them, and that if they just chill and join you, it is in their best interests. Generally, successful invites occur with characters who are actually neutral but assume you're the hostile one and become hostile towards you until you set them straight. However, there are power players who will not accept your invitation because they know their way is the right way. Arch demons and Ultima demons fall into this category; they serve the Lucavi and inherently believe that you are an insignificant insect and when you try to invite them they simply laugh in your face because you are a worthless mortal who barely has any magic potential and even with that you will die in the blink of an eye compared to beings who have already been waiting a thousand years to come back from hell. Basically you can invite everything from undead to dragons because they're indifferent as to whether they kill for themselves as compared to killling for you, but demons are firm believers that their unholy masters will inherit the world, and even if you say you can stop them, they'll just wait another thousand years for another chance and in the meantime they will amuse themselves by turning you inside out and playing with your entrails.
No you can not invite demons to join you, at least not with any success whatsoever. -------------------- |
