Has anyone completed the game 100% with only Cloud in the party (other 2 KO) with only the Buster Sword and Bronze Bangle?
Or anything similar to this, if so how did it go and what were the hardest parts of this?
I ask this because I'm thinking of doing this.

have you heard of someone doing this? because i think doing so would be really hard. also the summon phoenix would be usless. then theres fighting emerald weapon. im not saying its not possible but its gonna be pretty damn hard.

Yes, I'm sure people have done it with no materia as well. Check Gamefaqs, they have guides for different challenges.

Asshole answer: it isn't possible, because there are significant stretches of the game where Cloud isn't playable.

Realistic answer: of course it's possible, if you modify your conditions so that not using Cloud when you can't use him isn't cheating.

I suppose you could use a gameshark to swap him in and out of your party as needed.

This is highly doable, just difficult. Once you get KotR, the game's done and over with. I'm tempted to try but it's so hot out today :x My PC doesn't like heat.

That's why it's called Final Fantasy VII Challenge.

I've recently started a no-materia challenge. At the bneginning, it was OK, but just after the Don Corneo mansion bit, it got really hard. Aps was difficult, since no healing stuff except potions and Aeris' limit break.

A no-materia challenge would be BORING. Wouldn't it?

Actually, it's very challenging. It requires a lot more strategy in battles, and since you can't use the W-Item materia or the Chocobo Lure, you can't get infinite elixirs or use chocobos to get across the swamp.
I plan to try and defeat Ruby and Emerald Weapons, but without the use of the Underwater materia, I would have to level up and get higher speed and strength stats. But of course, i can't use the Morph materia in the Gelnika.

Like i said, a lot of strategy will be required.

Iv seen videos of people beatng emerald weapon like this so im sure it can be done it would just take alot of work and alot of time.

materia that would make this easier; Ice/Bolt, Morph, steal, throw, chocobo lure, restore, 2xCut, KotR, counter, and mime.
try to
level up to level 15 at the beginning (mass leveling is probably going to be neccessary)
at the bginning of the game de-equip one of youtr magic materia, then go through, once you can equip restore equip it.

Since I've never Done this I can assume the battle against Reno would be very difficult, but If you have Ice2/bolt2 and a high level you may kill him before he does pyramid.
once you get the steal materia make sure to equip it.
while leveling up you'll want to have the chocobo lure materia equipped.
Once you've reached Gongonga and have morph, morph the enemy outside the reactor for power sources.
Try to get to 255 is you feel like it.

Once you reach temple of the ancients you'll be temptedl to have the ribbon.

other source spot gelnika plane, you'll want to start with the room filled with the enemies that drop speed and luck sources, don't attach too many luck sources just yet. Then after you get mass speed move into the other rooms (Note. after you have perfect stats it'll be rather hard to fill your limit bar.) when you have perfect stats physical attacks will probably always miss and magic attacks won't be too devastating.

For a while you'll have 4xcut and restore as your materia.
you may now want to head over to Gold Saucer for omnislash. With your juiced up stats and 4xCut and guaranteed first attack, you'll destroy all in your wake. Try to get materia breaks in the slots.

You should get KotR, but mime and omnislash is the one I prefer.

If you're going to try and firght the weapons Counter and Mime will probably be your best set-up (spam omnislash) unless you want to use 7777(Very hard to get with perfect stats, if you're using an emulator abuse savestates, then heal with potions until you have 7777 before the battle), then you'll want the underwater materia and comet. (For emerald) and probably Omnislash and just mime for Ruby.

Don't get up to level 99 you'll probably have reached the 80's before you get to the glenika plane. Avoid 99 once you have perfect stats it's pointless. For sephitroth you'll want KotR and mime witha full limit gauge. First form cast KotR, second form cast omnislash then mime. third form omnislash.

In gold saucer you could spam meteorain, but if you don't the throw materia could come in handy in case you get minimized or something of the sort, and also certain boss battles early on, you'll probably have extra cash and weapons in your inventory

No materia Single character no ??? ??? ??? ... ugh, no idea. It's to "abbreviate it so the readers can say "Yeah, dude, I'm doing a NMSXfourteenXPLMNOP challenge. Dude."" The reason for this is so it's easier to remember. Uh huh. Right.

Although try a SCNMIENLNI challenge
Solo Character No materia Initial equip No Limit No items challenge.

I forgot to mention you could also use lucky 7's and comet for emerald

Luck is probably the most interesting attribute in the game it covers critical hits and evasion as far as i know, It was kind of interesting Getting a full limit gauge with max stats you'll need to manipulate an enemy that has a non-physical attack, and with Spirit at 255 it'll take a while.

also i forgot to mention why you shouldn't level to 99, at level 99 you'll fight a tougher final battle against sephiroth. In this challenge I would definatley rather face the regular.Although you could probably beat the level 99 sephiroth with the same strategy, kotr mime omnislash.

I am trying a DCNMIESC ( dual character no materia initial equipment speed challenge ) My 2 are gunna be Cid and Cloud ( Cid is the man ) I am currently on Reno ( for now I have Barrett alive ) that Bolt Plume came in handy. I have level grinded ( Cloud and Barrett are now both in the forties ) Btw, with Cloud awesome stats vs. Sephiroth, every hit of KotR does 9999, so you don't need Mime, he'll die in one shot, Bizarro and Safer both.

well im tryin to only have cure at lvl 1 only and not to change your first weapon and to only have 2 team members fight.
im still testing it through the game though but it might work but its really hard.

Wow thanks R51. Does that rule of HP addaption only apply to Safer Sephiroth throughout the game?

Update:
I am now on third disc, both of my people (Cid and Cloud) have max stats. I have defeated Diamond, Ultima and Emerald (working on Ruby he had 10,000hp left, yay limits (Dragon Dive and Omnislash))
Have defeated Sephiroth, Sephiroth and Sephiroth.
Apparently, Ultima Weapon is only worth 1 gil. (DHSXGDSEGJIDXEUWNJSB!!!!)
