Phoenix Caves Mystery

Dunno if anyone else notices this, but at the end of the Phoenix Cave Dungeon there is a short sequence where Locke gets esper of the same name. during this, the lowest part of the screen seems to show an area, though I have found no way to access this. I recall a chest there. any thoughts?

no no this is to the southern edge of the screen. i believe text covers it for most of the time...does anyone know what im referring to?

i dont recall seeing a chest but i do recall seeing a red light? any idea on that?

Well yeah, but what about the red light? I've always wondered about it, but I've never actually gone through the cave again to find out.

yeah i tried it 3 times before and on the third time a glitch came up and when i turned the game back on all mycharacters had maxed out stats lvl 99 and all magic learned. It was crazy and nothing bad happened afterwards either

I mapped out the Phoenix Caves awhile back, so maybe you can locate the phantom chest there.
