The esper world was a little bland... I do think it would be cool if you could go back there during the world of ruin and access new things. thats where the could put that Czar Dragon Lunar Dungeon everyone wants.

First a note on the death of general leo, his death is vital to the progression, just like that of arith of final fantasy 7.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
In final fantsy 7 arith (if i am spelling her name right) had to die and stay dead in order for holy to be summoned. Thats why she says her materia was completely useless, it was because it didnt have the lifeforce needed to activate it.
In Final Fantasy 6 leo needs to die, he weakens kefka enough to keep him from doing major damage to the town, he saves the town people, and he shows that there are still people with in the military ranks of the empire that care for the little guy. His death is an important part of the game. And his grave is a symbol of caring and love towards people who are considered the little people.
Now that my rant is over i will say what i want to see new to the game. I'd like to see something about what happened to the rest of the moogles, maybe have a side quest of having to retreat them from narshe while the world is breaking apart, or something like that. This always bothered me, the moogles were a big part in the beginning of the game, then suddenly all but one vanishes.
Umaro would be something i'd like to see changed, i'd honestly like him to have special armor that only he can equip but can be changed at will. I dont mind so much having him be a berserker, but he needs to have a few ablities that arent given to him by relics. For example he could have a berserker charge or some manner of kicks and punches and what not. Umaro had a potental to be a very good charecter, the problem was that he couldnt equip armor, and there for he died to just about every attack. I have to say i liked the fact that he couldnt equip espers or anything like that.
Also think they need to have a point in the game where you can interact with live espers rather than just in flash backs of the esper world with terra or when they go beserk or even when you see ramha (sp?). You need to be able to find some that are hidden in the human world, maybe they unlock side quests or give you more story content about the war of the magi.They could also teach you charecters ablities or something like that. they dont nessicarly have to join you but they could be a good fresh element in the game that gives more depth to the spicies and maybe answers a few questions about certain aspects of the game.
I have to agree with alot of people on the auction house items, it would be nice to beable to get those "usless items" espically the imp robot, though i could see a practical application for him. He could be a shop owner on the falcon and also heal you like on the black jack with those two guys. The chocobo could just be a steed you have on your ship that can give you lift should you need to get to a part quickly and dont have the money to buy one to ride. The model of the airship could have an intersting aspect to it, setzer could take it back to daryls tomb and give it as a special little tribute to her or something, maybe it would unlock a few side things deviling into setzers past and how he became what he is after daryls death. They also need to add a much wider varitoity of items the auctions, maybe not all relics and espers but just fun little extra things, like key items that unlock side quests or just items that are unless other than amusement (like a merchant and solider outfits to wear with locke. people could have strange reactions to them when you change into them.) Just something fun that would make it alot more enjoyable to get zoneseek and golem.
Some more charecter cut scenes and story would be nice, they work alot on how certian things made the charecters what they are today but they dont have much story on the charecter themselves, i've always been curious for example why locke is a theif and why sabin became a monk. How shadow became a ninja would be an intersting fact, also how he got interceptor. More about the actual charecter would make them game seem fun to me, then you'd have a much better understanding about that charecter.
The idea of never being able to rebuild towns always bugged me, i really think they need to have that be a manditory part of the game, it'd add some story to the game in the world of ruin and would make it seem less like it was just a filler area (which in essence is all that it really is.) Plus it would make things in that world seem more important. For example doma might slowly be fixed up and you could run something with cyan to have people move there again, and eventaly have a full revival of the kingdom, or make have poor people be housed there or something.
I also really think they need to make sidequests in the world of balance. Since that is when alot of the story deveolpment goes on they could make a few side quests affect main parts of the story and even change things about it. One side quest i could think of is to make smashing hit of an opera, then later on in the game you could learn new dances for mog from the opera house or something like that. That was something that really bugged me, it was important like two times in the game (once if you werent fighting the eight dragons) then you never have a need for that place again. I personally dont like that aspect. They could even make a feature in the opera house where the opera people act out battles from different games, kinda movie experince. It wouldnt have an effect on the game really but it would be something fun to do in between battles and story and what not. If you see all of them maybe some aspect of the game could change like unlocking a sidequest or something.
I really think they need to add ???????? to your party as a perminate playable charecter, and they need to add bannon, it would not only finishes off the charecters you actually get to play with, but it would affect the story to much anyways. All they'd have to do for example with ????????? is have him be greatful that you are willing to help his kind and as his thanks he joins you. Though they could tweak it that the one you finally do get has the ablity to posses over and over again and maybe change an aspect of posses. Just and idea on that.
Extra bosses like the czar dragon would be cool but not for the sake of just having extra bosses to fight, there would have to be good reasons for fighting them. For example what would be the purpos to fighting the czar dragon, you already have cursader after beating the eight dragons so what good would it do you to beat this 9th dragon?
It would also be nice to play with your team members as they fall off of the airship, maybe see what makes each of them end up there and how they help or change the area, it seem like they were just placed in certain areas randomly.
I wont bore you anymore with long text though i think those are just a few ways they could make things even better.

Pretty much all I would like to see is harder opponents/monster and bosses. They all just seem to easy to me and I would like a better challenge.

"New character and a New Game + would be pretty cool to me", but that's just my opinion! thumbup.gif

but seriously, the dragons were muy weak. and to that whole bosses from old games thing, maybe put a few in the colloseum that can be fought when u wager special items but all of them in a row would be stupid...

After you complete the game: A story arc where you play the empire...the whole infusion with magic thing added for this part instead of espers... and Kefka!

well i don't expect much from the rerelease for gameboy in ways of new charaters or additional storyline or anything of that sort although probably an unlockable dungeon somewhere in the world of ruin with better weapons and such... the only thing i really want from this game is sightly updated graphics like FF4 advance has towns looking completely updated like what appear to be windows or the buildings look more sophisticated and advanced and i'm hoping for new menu pictures and i dunno something completely odd and random like the cecil rosa kissing sprite something random that we wouldn't expect like that

but that's about all i really care about biggrin.gif the game is too great to change too much


lol ohhhh annd i hope they leave the paper thing in the returns headquarters in cuz that always amuses me biggrin.gif

yelanates, how can you complain about Thanos suggesting restoring Leo to life when you suggest restoring the ENTIRE WORLD to life? Reverting back to the World of Balance in any fashion other than some kind of flashback or Cave of Trials-esque thing would be blasphemous. Sure, maybe the WoB was "more fun to traverse," but that doesn't mean you weren't a pot calling the kettle black.

When your right, your right. You cant redo a classic title. If they screw this up, im gonna be down right depressed. this game is responsible for any liking of the series in the first place.

ok so i'm doing a quick playthru using the speed up button on zsnes not really paying too much attention to anything (esspecially leveling up lol) and i just got the blackjack... and i think it would be cool if they accually made gambling side games in that area of the airship... like a blackjack mini game and a poker mini game etc. etc. like that would be freaking cool kinda like lufia or super mario RPG thumbup.gif

Well, you can just rename the characters anyway.

But on that note, it'd be cool if they gave a few more letter spaces, since I have a hard time fitting 'Cayenne' into six spaces.

And I'm not even going to mention the weird way they fit in the letters for the Anthology version. Although I'm sure monster names will have many more letter spaces in their box, like the other GBA ports.

I kind of wonder how Square plans on adding things that haven't already been accomplished through hacks (save for dungeons). It seems obvious that Czar Dragon will be in this game, but I'm not sure how much that'll impress me since I've already fought him numerous times in various hacks. After playing through FFIVA, it seems likely that this game will actually be made easier, so I'm not expecting big things out of Czar Dragon or any extra bosses. Speaking of bosses, I hope they don't tease us again by promising "a final encounter with an enemy familiar to fans" only to have it be another Kefka. What a letdown ZeromusEG was.

And Square-Enix, if I asked nicely, would you be so kind as to get rid of the EngliJap? I can handle PhantomBeast and Cayenne, but not Thundaga. I'm sure that in Japanese it sounds like angels in heaven, but in English it sounds like William Hung singing "Oh my Draco..."

I do look forward to new dungeons and new weapons, though. They were totally awesome in IVA and I can't wait to see what's in store this time. I'm also looking forward to seeing how the Colosseum will be changed. I'm assuming that it will be, since it probably takes minimal effort to modify that part of the game.

Okay. I can't stress enough how much I would like General Leo in the game. But everyone is right. It is so important for him to die. Think about it this way. He's such a bad ass charecter that when he dies you get extreamly pissed off! You want to march into kefka's tower woop his ass and say, this ones for leo. They should add a few extras in the game itself. but heres my ideas.

Someone mentioned fighting all the major bosses in the game and from past game. Well..Yes and no.
No you should fight main bosses from past games. Thats pointless. Yes, you should fight the major bosses. think castlevania for gba people. they had a boss run where if you did it in so much time you got a prize. They could do the same thing. kill as many bosses as possible and get a reward. who knows if you get them all, you get an ultimate weapon or a new game mode(see after boss mode). This is how I would do it...

Boss Mode:
Enter Boss Mode.
Load a saved game.
Select your party.
Start fighting, Earn some prizes.

Why load a saved game you ask? Well a couple of reasons. 1. Your using your characters levels, weapons, and skills. This will make you want to build your levels up so you dont get owned by the bosses.

Hero Mode:
You are General Leo! You play through the game up untill the point where he dies. This would be fun for all the people that want to bring leo back without ruining the game. if you beat hero mode, maybe you unlock leo's sword and its a super powerful sword you can get in the WoR.

Monster Book:
Every Monster you beat, you get full stats on them. what level they are, what they're weak agasint, what they may drop.

These things and most things people have already writen in here I would like to see. like a new dragon, espers, dungouns and so on.

They did a good job with ffIv advance, so im hopin gthey do the same thing with this.

First of all, I would like the game to be a little bit harder, but not as extreme that you die alll the time without leveling 20 levels above.

Also, I would like to see some of the extra characters return as permanent. IE. The ghosts or Banon, maybe even Maduin or Seigfried.

The new dungeons have to be there, its one of the easiest ways to spiff up the game. Maybe unlock more then just extreme equipment., dont ask me what though.

A bestiary would be nice.

As for the boss gauntlet, its not such a bad idea, but instead of every boss, why not just the final bosses from 1-10. Chaos, (enemies from 2 and 3 which i dont know) Zeromus, Sepiroth, Ultimicea, Kuja or Necron, and maybe even Sin. Thatd be cool. On that note they could add czardragon and collosus, but not just them. I want some new enemies, some intensely hard ones. Not ones that every internet using ff6 player knows about. Someone mentioned new WEAPONS, Im all for it.

Oh and for cripes sake, change Atma to Ultima, and leave the witty remarks that woosly put in,(kefka's lines) (Thou art such a pain in the...) theyre part of the game's charm.

Oh i forgot, maybe some new spells or espers too, since theyre not limited to such a small memory space as the snes

Uh, why not? They've been like that in the Japanese versions. They've named the spells properly since FFVIII and up, why would they stop now? Maybe it's just me, but 'Thundaga' sounds alot more magical than 'Bolt 3'.

And what is EngliJap?

I've been pondering what limitations the superbosses would have. Would it be unreasonable to ask for a 1,000,000 HP superboss? FFVI is a bit more broken than IV or V, so that'd be interesting to see what they can pull off with the GBA.

Yes, I am posting this at 3:25 AM because it took me a while to go through this thread completely, now, for my opinion. I think some of the translations that were edited for censorship *hiss* must go. Others such as Espers and Fire 2 and Bolt 3 should stay because they sound cool, Thundaga and Fira sound retarded, sorry. If you dont like the charater names, change em, i'm kinda neutural either way on that... oh and EngliJap are direct translation words from japaneese that have NO meaning in english if i am not mistaken (try finding "blizzaga" in an english dictionary). As for gameplay, I am about 90% sure that they are gonna add new dungeons. As for Leo coming back, not gonna happen, altho you never know with Square-Enix, they manage to screw up alotta good things (ala crapfest X-2). Back to translation, ima shoot someone if they change Atma to Ultima, there is an ATMA for weapons and bosses, ULTIMA for spell, lets keep it simple people. Let's see, what else can I hit on in one post...
CzarDragon is an unknown factor, I like how one of the earlier posts said "fake boss" altho it was just an incomplete thought really. Squenix may or may not implement it to make fans happy. Extra charaters might be interesting as an "Clear Game" extra, you know, some extra people to just play around with but have nothing to do with the story.

Eh? True and all, but I much prefer the original names (as in the Americanised) over the Jap names any day honestly, Esper and Atma sound cool, and I always much preferred Atma to Ultima anyways. Looking at what they did to FFIV Advanced, I think they may change the names of a few things, but no, I really dont want a direct translation, I mean, it was the first FF I played and it would kinda be ruined for me if Squenix changed all the names of everything. But, I think that it'll just be a wait and see thing, half the fans will be in an uproar either way, just putting my 2 cents in.
As for the New Game +, that would be kinda interesting.

Of all things previously mentioned:

-I would like to see the CzarDragon.
-More dungeons would be nice.
-More difficulty or a difficulty option wouldn't hurt.
-No reviving Leo, but maybe have an optional sidequest where you can go into a flashback and control him for a short while thus developing his past storyline a little more or something of that sort.
-Character names doesn't matter since you can rename, but adding more spaces would be helpful.
-Spell names doesn't bother me that much, but Fire2 sounds kind of googfy, as if they didn't feel like thinking of another name so they gave it a 2 instead. Think of how goofy Steal2 would sound instead of Mug. personally I like Fira better, but it isn't important and wouldn'st really bother me.
-Give a hinting towards Gogo's background without giving it away, similar to the way Shadow is thought by some people to be Relm's father.
-There should be more to Siegfried. I like the thought of him as an optional character, but just having a little more storyline with him would be fine.
-Of course, fix the bugs and graphics.
-Get real instrument sounds instead of MIDI. If I want MIDI sounds I'll play the original. Music was still great as MIDI though.
-Moogle sidequest was a good idea.
-PvP would be fun.
-I like the opera house idea and the idea of rebuilding towns.
-Banon should be in WoR. Maybe as a character, or have him in the Falcon to heal you.

My thoughts:
-Make it possible to choose which character to be starting in the WoR. This would add a little more story to each character and give the game a lot more replay value since you would wan't to play as all of them and would have to restart for each one.
-Make it possible to keep playing the game after you beat the final boss and add more character storyline developement for what happens afterwards.
-Make it possible to fight Ultros in the colliseum, though he would be much more difficult. You could win something like Octopus Tentacle. It could be a rare item that has a random chance of Ultros popping up at the beginning of a battle and attacking the enemy with his tentacle-whip attack. I forgot the name of the attack, but I'm sure you know what I mean. Just a thought.
-Add more story to Umaro. He was just kind of there.
-Make a library somewhere. Have a quests for it. Like make it haunted and you have to kill the demon in it or something.
-Make Interceptor start protecting Relm if you don't save Shadow.
-Make it so if you don't save Shadow, a glimpse of his ghost is seen at Kekfa's tower whenever you kill a goddess statue, but it disappears abruptly. I just thought it would be cool.
-Make it possible for me to get this game for free along with a GBA.

I pretty much agree with almost everything al of ya'll said, but one other thing I would like to see is a "relic" that allows you to break the damage limit! That would be awesome, but I wouldn't want them to put that in until they give the mosters and bosses more HP because like many have said before: Snes may be 16 bit, but GBA is 32 bit so you are able to give larger amounts of health to monster instead of just 65535!! thumbup.gif

hmm... I was reading some stuff on gamespot.com and found the following improvements for the GBA version:
-Deep and compelling story includes a diverse cast of playable characters
-Enhanced graphics breathe fresh life into an already beautiful world
-New dungeons and other features add value for new and returning players alike
-Portability—a classic adventure makes its first-ever appearance on a handheld platform

new dungeons
bestiary
czar dragon
further develop some characters stories (gogo/leo)
no changes in story
new items
more esper world
more to collosium
rebuilding towns
new game +
increased difficulty
sound updates
sprite updates (more poses would be nice... ya know, so its not just the same 5(i think) basic animations to cater to everything)

i think those are the essentials

i mean everyone knows PVP would be amazing... and it'd seriously increase replay value
