FFII is definatley one of my least favorites, at least It's not as bad as 8, but II wasn't fun.

FF II is my least favorite game in the series. The plot is uninteresting, the music and visuals forgettable, and the static gameplay elements were so awful that it spawned an entire terrible series dedicated to the level-up system (SaGa). Overall, I wouldn't say that FF II is worth playing.

i do agree that the battle system was annoying, the worse is the magic. not to mention you basically only use cure.

I love the game. But I have to admit it can be very hard since all the bosses have uber defence. But i level up right below Altair, you fight mega enimies, i fought a behemoth (hurray for magic) I'm not far, im looking for Deist, and Guy almost has 2000 HP. The plot so far, i cant wait untill the ultima seal is broken, but i dont want Minwu the badass whitemage who looks like a ninja to
Possible spoilers: highlight to view

But hey as long as i get to play him in Soul of Rebirth...........Yes i am playing GBA version but you can still fight tough enimies at the bottom of Altair where the sea is. *you can only move 3 squares left and right beware of brains*

This game did not even compare to the REAL* FFII (FFIV). Storyline... yawn. Characters... *BIG YAWN*. magic annoying; ice 13, fire 15, bolt 7, etc...

I liked the plot of FF2. I liked how the fourth character kept switching out.

I didn't like the leveling. It could be incredibly cheap...but it had to be incredibly tedious.

I liked it. I just thought that it was weird that Leon was evil for like, two seconds.

Seriously, he didn't do anything but kill one random messager... thumbdown.gif

Actually, SaGa was based off of this game's system, not the other way around. (The producer who designed the game's system later went on to produce the SaGa games.)

The plot was okay, I suppose. You can't honestly expect a novel out of a NES game. The fourth character switching out being neat I second.

The system itself was pretty tedious, as was most of the game. Still, nothing like a good dungeon crawl. (And dwindling healing items. smile.gif)

And, it gets props for introducing the staple 'surreal outer space crystalline final dungeon' with Pandaemonium. Which had awesome music, btw.

Firion: Well, we're out of items again.
Lionheart: Uh-oh.
Maria: I just got turned into a toad.
Firion: Well, you know what that means! Killing our party members to heal status ailments!
*kills Maria*
Guy: But Maria have Life.
Firion:....****.

I know, that's what I said. FF II's gameplay system spawned the SaGa system. As in gave birth to the SaGa system.

I think it was good in that the fourth party member was always switching out, but it always made me feel reluctant to give them good stuff fearing they ever-coming death.

But luckily, this is in the GBA version, so it's paying off in Soul of Rebirth...kinda...

Also, I second what Zeromus said about Pandaemonium. thumbup.gif

I like it. I have yet to finish it, but I like the alternating 4th party member and the more you use a particular weapon and magic it raises in power and individual stats increase gradually as opposed to traditional leveling.

Oh...don't tell them that the first time through the game. :/
