I vote Cecil because he did something he didn't want to do,and that was murder the Mysidians and retrieve the water crystal for his king. On the airship he wasn't pleased with his sin that he had done, but when he came back the king gave him a ring to go to the Summoners Town *forget name.* At the town
Possible spoilers: highlight to view the ring was a bomb ring and sent the village on fire, and when Cecil and Kain killed the Mist Dragon it killed a little girls mom, since the summons have a connection to the summoner. But when Leviathan attacked, Cecil was at Mysidia and the Elder said he had more light then last time he came and said he could become a palidan, not only to recieve holy light but it would lighten his grief for what he has done in the past. And so he did become a paldian, and for those reasons i voted Other for Cecil. ![]() This post has been edited by Dragon King on 4th July 2006 13:47 -------------------- Kel'Thuzad: She is persistent. I'd say Ramza is the best FF hero. Yes, I'm partial to Tactics, but, one of the reasons for that is that Ramza is such an interesting character. He goes ffrom a spoiled, innocent kid to a brave warrior who looks out for those weaker than himself

Cecil is a main role character, he's the main character in FFIV, the only character with a 100% gurantee to be in your party.

Doesn't that make this the worst poll ever? Seriously, polls like this make me want to take away the priviledge. Ahhh im getting confused because i did have a Golbez one untill he said that l> I ALMOST picked Zidane but i rather Cecil, and someone named Zidane ruined the Twin Towers, by crashing the air plane in Canada. ![]() I fine Squall is to much of a Sissy, the only thing i like about him is his final weapon, his limit breaks, and he has a awesome jacket. Terra i must admit she was a so-so hero. The biggest part of her being a hero was opening the Esper gate.....which was a waste. Cloud well.....if you think about his past him being someone else well.....no, he pretty well much NEEDED Tifa to help him to well "remember" the real him and his "real" past. Well i guess i'll post a Golbez one because he was the hero i chose untill the above. He was a great hero because of all the trouble he caused to the party, confused? well here this will prove he is a fantastic hero. Possible spoilers: highlight to view After all he did to Cecil and friends, there was that one day in the Giant of Babil that Zemus' controll over Golbez lifted. Golbez realized all of the sins he had done in the past, and at the moment bringing the Giant of Babil to rise he chose to "try" to make up for all he has done by going with FuSoYa to the moon to kill Zemus. Another reason he went to the moon because he wanted his brother to forgive him (Cecil) But at the moon when he and FuSoYa killed Zemus, he arose and KO'd them. Then when Cecil,Rosa,Kain,Edge and Rydia defeat Zeromus, Golbez said he can't go back because of what he has done in the past, and decides to stay behind with FuSoYa for the Lunar Sleep. I dont know about you but i find thats pretty Heroic. ![]() This post has been edited by Dragon King on 5th July 2006 14:27 -------------------- Kel'Thuzad: She is persistent. I say Ramza Beoulve. The naive son of one of the most well-known and respected Ivalice families-turned into a selfless knight who'd make his father proud beyond compare for ridding the world of the true evil that threatened the land without neither getting anything nor asking for anything in return. If I ever played FFIV Cecil might be a second-choice pick for me.
I actually loved Zidane as a main character after Cloud and Squall went from moody loners to noble heroes and Tidus for his upbeat and cocky personality despite his whining. Most definately Cecil. The fact that he was so confused (but not melodramatically like Squall) made him a hero that you WANT to achieve, so when he wins he can give a big "up yours" to the people of Baron.
Also, for a person that has a Golbez avitar, I'm pretty surprised that you would leave out the hero of FFIV... Zidane is good, but I really liked Squall. Just for the change that he goes through in the game. I think he's the only character who goes through such a subtle yet major alteration of his personality. If FFVIII was made into a book it'd be a seriously good read.
Plus he has a BIG SWORD, with a GUN on it! I mean come on... -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Cecil is my absolute favourite. He's the man who refuses to quietly go along with something that he believes is wrong--it's like Atticus Finch with a sword.

Ramza, hands down.
He is an everyman. He shunned a life of nobility and shady political dealings for a life of persecution from all angles and factions, jsut for the purpose of spreading the truth. He is not some pumped up stud, out to save the world. He just happens to be the only one with the balls to do it, and the charisma to get willing followers to join his cause. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

Everyone likes Squall. And Cloud. Zidane broke from teh mold of emo-ness with a good leading character who wasn't suffering emotional heartache and psychological issues. He just gave off a sense of leadership along with empathy because he's a good character with a strong character and general sense of good-heartedness.

Generalizations are generalizations for a reason. They're mostly correct. Too many people take "mostly" for "absolutely all." As a person who frequently searches search engines on topics such as these, I use my own past experience as my basis. Cloud and Squall frequently dominate favorite FF hero topics while Zidane is often forgotten almost completely unless someone wants to make a stupid remark on how much he "sucks."

Quote Zidane is often forgotten almost completely unless someone wants to make a stupid remark on how much he "sucks." Too true. I also fail to see WHY Zidane gets as much flack as he does. Becuase Square gave him a "sprite" look? Becuase he lacks t3h Uber Big Swr0d? Becuase he's got a tail? Hmm. So yeah, Zidane's my favorite character (so I'm pretty sure I voted for him... heh, I voted two days ago and didn't have time to write a response). Terra, Celes, and Locke would all also be contenders for my favorite lead, but Zidane always comes out on top fer me. This post has been edited by Kurohime on 11th July 2006 05:57 |

Terra/Celes or Zidane.
Terra/Celes because they share the "main character" role, imo, and because they're two of the best FF characters ever. They both have emotional junk to work through, and the both manage to cope without being emo. Zidane is in the same boat as Terra and Celes. His "love interest" in FFIX is far better than pretty much any other FF "love interest," and he works through a believeable identity crisis--all the while refraining from turning into this boring emo character. He's also wicked funny---"ooh, soft!" edit for Kuro: You beat me to the punch!! ![]() This post has been edited by CyanCyde on 11th July 2006 05:58 |

Cecil, hands down. Terra, Celes, and most of the other females in the series go through a period where they hide from their problems, and Cecil is the only male that doesn't go through periods of being extremely unmanly.

No doubt Squall is one of the downright coolest heroes, what with the leather, scar, hair in the face, and don't care personality before he warmed up and became a true hero that people could look up to and respect. I was ecstatic when I found out he was in the Kingdom Hearts games.
On the other hand, Cloud is overrated, but I think for good reason. Awesome in battle and very versatile with good magic power (at least in my game) and super-powerful swords and limits, but he is a person that I, for one, can relate to. The both of us did something life-changing for the affections of one woman (except in my case, she couldn't have cared less) yet not strong enough. Just an everyman who lived in another man's life by no fault of his own and conjured the admiration and respect of comrades to vanquish the evil of the world. My vote still stays with Ramza bar none, but I thought I'd share my take on pros for Squall and Cloud. -------------------- "Thought I was dead, eh? Not until I fulfill my dream!" hmph...Delita is arguably a main character...but nevermind...
I guess I would have to say Ramza and Zidane...I mean Ramza is this regular guy who goes the extra mile to fix what is wrong with the world, in his eyes. While Zidane is a complex character who refrains from falling into his own trap of feelings of worthlessness 'emo-ness' etc. I do enjoy some of the female leads, perfect example being Terra and well...Terra ![]() This post has been edited by Nytecrawla on 15th July 2006 18:20 -------------------- This is a webcomic and gaming blog where I rant about nonsense.
