I don't even really notice it anymore. (If only because I don't really celebrate any holidays anyway.) I suppose the fireworks are nice.

Happy Fourth of July!

You are correct, the fourth means there's gonna be a bunch of slobbering drunk people blowin' stuff up.......

Fireworks are not actually legal in the county I live in, but what the heck, that sort of thing never stops anyone.

Happy 4th of July! Up until a few years ago I'd go down to Navy Pier at my hometown of Chicago, Illinois but t'night I'll be doin' somethin' at checkin' out the fireworks from the city square jus' a few blocks down from where I live.

Actually the more the people have to drink, the more fun it is!

Jehovah's Witness eh?

They were actually going door to door today. I didn't get to answer it, but oh well.

I went to fireworks saturday, for some reason there are none anywhere tonight within a half hour. Lame....

The clouds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

Just watched our local ones and was really impressed. For a little tiny town they put on a pretty serious show only about two blocks from my building.

I just got back from working my park manager summer job. We put up a decent show for around an hour, and we sold more food than usual. That about wraps it up.

Got together with some friends for a good old-fashioned cookout, then drove down to watch the fireworks by the harbor. Fine show tonight, too, much better than I expected.

I tend to forget what this holiday actually celebrates. My patriotism-fu is weak; George Washington would be so ashamed of me.

No, I just don't really pay attention to holidays. Nothing appealing to them for me, anymore.

Don't worry, I'm sure there are still going to be drunk idiots, like always.

I actually watched the Boston fireworks from sitting on the Charles River bank of the Boston lagoon.

The fireworks were absolutely amazing, but unfortunately they kinda drowned out the music. And of course, they were deafeningly loud. It was a nice touch that they started the first round of fireworks just when the first playthrough of the 1812 Overture hit the final section, but again, unfortunately, it drowned out the music. Additionally, they said that the Boston Pops would perform it again, but I don't think they ever did--they seemed to just do a string of pop songs, among which I recognized some song by Sheryl Crow.

Most interestingly, though, the eastern end of the fireworks barge caught on fire. Nothing much more interesting happened there though, since there was no sudden brightly-multicolored explosion from that end or anything. It was put out about 20 minutes after the show ended.

That marks the first time I've actually seen fireworks live on the 4th of July. The only other time I've seen them live is at New Year's Day in Disney World's EPCOT Center.

Actually I didn't do anything for the 4th this year. I planned on goin' down to the city square, but I couldn't bring myself to go. I jus' stayed home and watched movies with the family while watching the fireworks goin' off in the neighborhood.

I can't complain about my day. I celebrated the 4th in Joyzee, where I met up with my high school girlfriend went to see some good fireworks. I had to lifeguard the first half of the day, but it was nice happy.gif .
